Epic descent to a fishing mark, and stopping to launch a drone. Hell, it was worth it though, captured those dolphins brilliantly and so professionally. Well done with the new lures. You're right about the coalies, I've seen John Locker pull a 4lb'er in and I bet it gave a hell of a scrap. I was actually trying to catch a perch this weekend so will be hitting the northerlies this week.

You thought about some studs for those boots? Seen you slipping all over the place lol Supatracks sell the best-grip brand studs. Size 1100 works for me all over the east coast of Scotland. Pair of cheap Dunlop safety boots from sports direct and a pack of twenty studs. They don’t fall out, unlike other brands which are just hex head self tapping screws
I've had some spikes before but found they gave no warning if they did slip. They were the hex type, though, so might give those Supatracks a go. Cheers for the info!
Thanks mate. I like boat fishing but love fishing from the shore more, means you can really focus on how to fish certain spots and improve techniques. Boat fishing tends to be a lot more vertical jigging which isn't quite as much fun
Always think it’s weird how here on Isle of Man I fish almost the same ground but we get barely any coalies just pollock after pollock! Should come over sometime soon !! 🎣

It's a Cobra HH500 VHF, great model because it can connect to your phone via Bluetooth and make and take calls. It floats as well for a bit of extra convenience. Hope this helps

Nice one! welcome to the channel. There's a canny few mark, not tried the beacons with lures but it's got deep water close in, so worth a shot. Beadnell, dunstaburgh, Cresswell skeers, sea houses are all good. Just need to find deep water close to shore.

I've fished there a couple of times, had a small codling from the east shore and a sea trout from the north. Hard going with lures though, the water is so shallow at low tide and the ground is really heavy. Doable though👍🎣
If you're fishing from rocks you've never fished before, what sort of things do you look out for, when you go lure/ LRF fishing, that might draw you to a spot?
Great question! There are 3 main things I look for- deep water, current and structure. If you can get all 3 then you're laughing. If you can't get the depth then structure and current are key. Hope this helps
They're called cheburaska or chebs for short. The have a built in clip so you can change weight or hook easily and the allow the hook to move more freely than a tradition texas rig

Great video my friend. It really encourages me to keep using the lures during the winter months. May I ask what weights you used? I usually use plugs and lures for Bass and never used those soft plastic lures before for non-bass species.
The weights are called cheburashka weights, Spro make a version called a Bottom Weight, they're a great alternative to cone weights, typically used on a texas rig, it means you can change weight easily without having to cut your line. Always use a lure clip though, the chebs can cut through your leader if not. Glad you like the video and tight lines👍🎣
@@SlippyLimpets Cool thanks, I did buy some Berkley Cheb weights in 7 gram for soft plastic fishing. So never tie the leader directly to the Cheb weight then? Always use a lure clip. P.s I couldn't see a method of changing weight without cutting the leader unless you use a lure clip to the weight,
Yep you got it. Always use lureclip. That's kne of the reasons why method is better than fishing with a texts rig, even if you use a lure clip you need to cut your leader to change weight or hook size
Sorry, autocorrect mucked that response up. If you're using a texas rig then you need to cut your line to change weight but not your hook/lure. The only benefit of a Texas rig is that you can use a glass bead to add some audio attraction to the set up.

I've tried it a couple of times but no success. One of my goals is to catch a bass of 5+lb on the fly so will keep trying

I've had a lot of Pollock on the green silver HTO Schluggs, look very similar to yours.
That colour combination is lethal, very natural. Not tried the Schluggs but might get a pack and add to the collection.

They're called cheburaska or chebs for short. The have a built in clip so you can change weight or hook easily and the allow the hook to move more freely than a tradition texas rig

@@SlippyLimpets It actually happens again about 19 seconds later but it's in the same place. It's definitely not your camera and it's very bright white so I don't think it's the sun. Maybe you were getting watched by someone or something Nathan lol

Great video my friend. It really encourages me to keep using the lures during the winter months. May I ask what weights you used? I usually use plugs and lures for Bass and never used those soft plastic lures before for non-bass species.
The weights are called cheburashka weights, Spro make a version called a Bottom Weight, they're a great alternative to cone weights, typically used on a texas rig, it means you can change weight easily without having to cut your line. Always use a lure clip though, the chebs can cut through your leader if not. Glad you like the video and tight lines👍🎣

So never tie the leader directly to the Cheb weight then? Always use a lure clip.
P.s I couldn't see a method of changing weight without cutting the leader unless you use a lure clip to the weight,
Yep you got it. Always use lureclip. That's kne of the reasons why method is better than fishing with a texts rig, even if you use a lure clip you need to cut your leader to change weight or hook size

Sorry, autocorrect mucked that response up. If you're using a texas rig then you need to cut your line to change weight but not your hook/lure. The only benefit of a Texas rig is that you can use a glass bead to add some audio attraction to the set up.
I never get any luck on lures, maybe the area I'm fishing 🎣
There will be fish there, just need to find the right lures and technique. Keep chucking and changing up and you'll find them👍🎣
