    drifting into tackle tart territory here, kids. don't forget you'll catch exactly the same fish with a £10 rod and reel, some half decent line, a £2.50 plug with a sabiki mackerel feather trailing behind it. Making fishing cheap is as joyous as the art itself.In fact it makes you think more about clever hacks. I've fished for 47 yrs and use a £15 telescopic for all rock adventures. Caught one or two, too.

      Yep, never used to be this way. Always fished with best value for money tackle. Turned 40 and treated my self to some good rods, guess it was cheaper than buying a sports car🤣

    Heyup lad,nice to see you in N Wales.My stomping ground.Can't help saying you have only had 20% of catch rate using only lures.I fish the shores and I have a boat,there's plenty of fish around North Wales.There are plenty of spots along the Menia straits that have easy access.You name it,and it is in the straits. Talking to the locals is always a good bet.We take three boats and camp out at benlech for the week,great access to loads of fishing spots.The inland sea at 4 mile bridge is worth looking at,you could get your Kayak in on both sides of the bridge.

    You are fishing right below my house down there in the second video. You walked along the bottom lane through the farm yard and I’m on the end of the top lane. Call for a cuppa next time you’re down here and I’ll join you at the water’s edge👍🏻
    Anyway It’s a fantastic place to fish for big bass, big pollock and big wrasse. However it fishes it’s best 2 hours up and 2 hours down. The rest of the tide is a complete waste of time. Also it fishes best from July- November with October-November being the best period for double figure pollock and bass approaching double digits!
    The very end fishes very well for very big tope and they’re caught up to 60lbs every summer.
    The far headland to the right is just as good for the big tope.
    It’s worth my mentioning that summer 2021 & 22 has been very very poor for mackerel and decent pollock as the sea down there appears to be absolutely infested with tiny pollock of about 8” in length. Throw in the feathers and they come back full of these little buggers every cast over high tide. Maybe a good sign for the future 🤷‍♂️

      Haha yeah, hunger and beer rules over the fishing. Hope you have a clear day on Snowden, been up there 34 times and only one clear day. Guess the fishing is the most important thing though. The mark you fished (maen gweonwy) tends to fish better in late summer.. no idea why it just does. The large headland opposite the side you fished from for the pollock is what us locals call Rhiw or trwyn penarfynydd is one of the best shore tope marks in north wales and holds some very decent pollock close in on metals. Good to see you over this way pal 👌

Also retired through ill health after a 33 year NHS career that ended up being a real dirty exit that totally destroyed me. Although I live near the sea in Bournemouth, I'm just not able to even consider going crabbing in Christchurch harbour! I'm literally looking at my old Kayak that's sat in the garden so what you do is really important for people like me. Physically, I can't do what I used to do so you are providing a public service as I can have a whale (I'm sorry) of a time, in the comfort of my chair. Well done fella, a really classy production. Oh it is, me and the better half went there for a 4 night stay mid April to check it out and the place is lovely. Did a little fishing in one of the bigger pools and it was rammed with small trout about 8 inches long. Great fun on my bfs gear so be a hoot on 2-3wt fly rod and a box of drys. The site itself is very family orientated with a playground for the kids in the middle, and no car access on the site once you have finished setting up, but they have a very large carpark at the entrance of the site. With that said there are a couple of nice and quiet pitches that are tucked out of the way. The one me and the OH had was right in the far corner out the way. Which has a lovely view of the big pool I fished, so spent the evenings next to the fire with a beer just watching the trout rise. There is also a bistro on-site, we never used it but it did look very nice so will pop in next time we are there.

    ive always wanted to catch wrasse, bur never knew how until recently in norway, I was experimenting. they seem to always be super tight into very sharp structure. Best luck I've had is tying wee buck tails or using small plastics in very bright colours literally dropped at my feet on a sharp drop.
    had some monster ballan wrasse in the west of Norway and the North west of Scotland.

    Definately better bass marks on the north coast of the llyn. Those deep water headlands can be hard at best of times on lures. tho there's usually a couple of pollack to save a blank. Hi Anthony, That'll be my accent! I'm saying "tombolo" and it's spit of land that joins the island as the tide falls (Lucie used to be a geography teacher. Hope this helps.

      @@SlippyLimpets That is especially interesting because the island I know is so close to shore you could throw a rock and hit it. Not sure if you can walk to it at low tide though. I'll have to ask someone who's been there at low tide if it runs dry. Thanks for the update!

    I must admit I watched this video much earlier but got completely sidelined by the Wigwam website as I found myself trying to book dates early June (Mrs birthday) and unable. What an awesome (and affordable) accommodation concept, thank you for that.

    Quick question.. do you ever night lure? If so do you have any luck?. Thanks.. Great video. Tight lines

    • @SlippyLimpets
      @SlippyLimpets  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can't see a reason to leave Cornwall, the fishing looks amazing. Yes, lure fishing for bass at night is awesome and can be really productive. A very different technique to fishing in the daylight, ans can be hard mentally when there's no visual stimulation, but the takes can be savage and bass are more active hunters at night. Sometimes they bite in inches of water which provides an amazing fight. Hope this helps and tight lines👍🎣

      Aye, I know mate but I like using an FG knot with a long leader so the swivel can get caught in the eyes, guess there's no reason why I can't stick it on the end of the leader, between the lure clip and leader. Makes sense so will give it a blast

    • @SlippyLimpets
      @SlippyLimpets  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi John, I don't like to give away other peoples marks, which is why I've not mentioned exactly where this is.
      I'm guessing that you recognise it because you've fished it so much, but 9999 people who might watch the video haven't fished there before, so won't recognise it like you do.
      Also, somebody a lot closer to home has been outing your marks for a very long time. I'm not sure if you're aware, and I'm not going to give publish the URL for the above reason, but there is a website under a local village name with a map of the marks I've fished on and many more plus a lot more information available like tides to fish where to collect bait etc.

    • @johnh6964
      @johnh6964 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I know the source referred to and I respect your reasoning. The terrain in the background is quite distinct tho!
