So a thing that might have been overlooked. Sol and Luna can trigger/reset penguin soldier. Also, I think the intent with fiendish rhino was for it to load the gy with fiends for necrofear to banish. I already see a possible combo line: rhino goes to gy, send sangan, summon doomdog, then when doomdog goes to gy you add necrofear with all 3 sacrifices needed ready in the gy.

Something not talked about enough is amazoness. It’s more than just playable. This was a tier 0 deck in duel links and now it has everything back with more tools to utilize.
ive been playing duel links lately, and despite a few meta decks being quite overpowered *and costly* my speed duel experience has been quite enjoyable. its made me think of picking up some of the irl product
King of the swamp makes so many fusion decks better. You can technically main deck dragoon in destiny hero now. Elemental heroes have another poly searcher. Dark paladin is way less bricky. Evil hero is more playable. Cyber dragon can otk faster. And what’s probably the biggest winner of this is roids.
@TopsyTurnip they are more concerned now because there are more TCGs and they are not sold like Pokemon cards. MTG is not doing to greatly either and they show it. The sanctions on Russia and others have been doing a lot of harm to the economy.
I also missed out on the og battle city box so am really happy at kaiba's deck basically being reprints of his two deck. Weird they ignored the yz dragon tank, like they couldn't print one more card? I like joey's deck but it's weird they didn't give more nostalgia cards for joey because you'd think that's the one you do it with. And I don't like panther warrior but it should be for joey. Oh my gosh i freaked out seeing sphere mode and then didn't see god slime and just would it really be that powerful together? I wouldn't think so compared to some of the other additions to speed duel and the slime is super iconic for the big finale duel of marik vs yugi. Their decision making is so weird because sometimes it feels they added things despite the power due to nostalgia but then avoid doing some nostalgia choices despite them not being strong. Tribe infecting virus is mind blowing. I don't think it had been printed since like 2005. So that's just wild

So speaking from personal experience, we had a speed duel tournament at my locals around the time of midterm paradox and 2 people (myself and the other more knowledgeable speed duel player) both ran XYZ. We found that YZ was actually a good card for the format because putting monsters face down with book of moon and flooodgate trap holes was our main way of interrupting our opponents, so combining that with a monster that let us then get rid of the monsters we flipped for a direct attack was big. Enough to where we both placed in the top 2. So they might have intentionally kept YZ out to balance the deck in a sealed enviornment, which also makes sense when you consider the amount of flip monsters they incorporated into the set.

-some great additions that i wanted to see, mostly in the tiki's and gravekeeper's (uria trap monsters seems very playable rn) -weird that destiny board is in a deck since they require 5 spell/trap zones -wouldve loved to see more great additions to speed duel in the future, truly a shame we won't see them (soon?). -the base of six samurai for example wouldve been amazing (pre synchro era) karate man/secret pass to the treasures , gravekeepers vassal, mystical beast cerberus as throwbacks to the early release days of duel links, also some cards that wouldve round out flavor combo's like holding legs etc.... i think they mostly struggled wether to go for flavor for the characters or to build upon the format while running into the fact that the most well known characters are practically returning in every part of the main story.
I feel like Konami just didn't really know what they wanted to do with speed duels. I have however tried to take over the mantel and continue making my own custom speed duel boxes
- Love Yugis Deck, So much suport for Slifer and Dark Magician in one 20 card deck :) So much new stuff, Monster reborn, mirror force, kuroboh, suport for slifer!!! - Kaiba is for me weak reprinted deck. Even Kaiba woll have 3 blue eyes and obelisk on one deck it feels he will brick so much. Depends on Skill. I dilo not like Union reprint, if they gave us something more suport for unions ot would be cool and i hate that we did not get any obelisk support (while we got slifer and ra support) Love his rong of destruction version. - Joey is cool but it is not Joey, it random warriors. Loved to have panter warrior, new giltia (that works woth all Joeys boss monsters that he gaind in BS tournament). His deck will be dismenteld and made into other character decks. - I love Marik, All 3 Ra! and other cards that are not printed for him in starter deck! Love all of them, only one missing for me is Slime God! But i giess it is to powerfull! Also we will get monster reborn in Mariks deck! - For Bakura we already know the skill must be Dark Sencuary! Love that Love Sangan as well one that was missing is Diabound and one ritual ZORC!!! Final will be fun to play, finaly first win condition :) - Ishizu will be crazy with Necrovally, GK Spy and recurter is cool as well! - Odion will probably get skill that will work with Scorpion, skill temple of the kings. Mirage will be so broken haha, MST repront is also cool! I hoped for new Aposis card from Odion. Order of a Trader is strong trap! - Mai is cool and not cool for me, love support from harpies, but i do not like amazoness suport for Mai, She did not even play some of those amazoness cards, but one that she played they did not give us. But i hear that amazoness deck will be meta. - Noah will be fun to make, finaly Spirits and Shinato. - Duke as well cool cards, we can now build his deck woth dice cards we got from older sets. - Big 5/Tristan is geting only few cards (penguins, liliy, jinzo) i am missing Juge man, Abyss warrrior, Robotic Knight and 5 headed dragon their boss monster!
@@MightySuki as a whole this set feels pretty good and yeah I agree I wasn't as big of a fan of Joey's and Kaibas decks, would have love to see a bit more direction from but I still am glad to see some of the cards they got because of what could be made from the broader card pool. Also I fully expect Amazons to be a top tier start, it's going to far too consistent and the power output is going to ridiculous

Also I thought there was supposed to be some Tristan support in the box, which could have been the battleguards or the Super Robo cards. A lot of hits and some misses, I'd say. Overall, I'm happy with it. Yugi's deck looks great, Mai's deck makes both Harpies and Amazoness actually exciting, Odion's deck does something really interesting going all-in on the PACKMAN strategy (I hope there's a skill that supports flipping), and while the fairy part of Ishizu's deck is boring, the Gravekeeper's part has got me giddy. Bakura and Marik also seem fine, nothing too exciting when looking at the decks as a whole, but they be cooking with Ra and Destiny Board. And while Kaiba's deck does look like a random pile, I think it'll run really well, especially in constructed, just because of how strong Trade-In and all the musical instruments that the King of D. gets to blow on. The YZ Union fusion is the one you summon with the one card combo with Union Hanger, so I don't know what they were thinking excluding that, but I'll get over it so long as Blue-Eyes finally becomes viable. But then what the fuck is Joey's deck? It's inexcusably bad! If they didn't know what to print, they could have just given us the few cool cards in the extra pile and then given little Yugi's deck with gadget's and silent magician/swordman a slot. Yeah, overall, the set looks great, but I just hate how they've wasted a deck slot on "Joey's" random pile. Can't wait for the Skill reveals

Also the joey deck kinda just looks like his streets of Battle City deck again. With a lot of random warrior crap. Really wish they would have leaned in more on the anime aspect of his deck if they were going ti have him in the set at least.
