If I were on a jury and Dan told me he slaughtered 38 innocent people because he had to watch a bunch of Transformers movies over again for work and it wasn't his fault, I'd definitely vote for acquittal.

I think at the heart of why the "stories" are bad, cause seemingly with each new one that comes along, it's like they're saying "okay, here's what's REALLY been going on the entire time"... they keep changing what the core mythology of Transformers is in relation to the human race and the planet Earth, for just whatever new convoluted story they want to tell. And like Dan said, they don't even give a half-hearted attempt to retcon things, they simply 100% ignore whatever's come before, no matter how much it conflicts on a basic factual, logical level.
