when Saki signed for the UFC i thought hed do well but Rountree finished him in like 2 minutes its the defense with the smaller gloves aswell

Gohkan Saki was cashing in with is UFC tenure. He didn't seem im prime condition whatsoever.
Still a kickboxing legend in his prime. Some guys struggle when they hit 30 because of the amount of years training.

*Stefan "Blitz" Leko* (wins over Peter Arts [twice], Badr Hari, Remy Bonasjy, Francisco Filho, Ray Sefo, Mike Bernardo, Alexey Ignashov [twice]...) also failed pretty badly in MMA, losing his 3 fights in 2004/2005.
His second loss was to the _"K1 Killa"_ Minowaman, via heel hook in 27 seconds.
However it must be stated that Leko didn't exactly get easy match-ups against fellow strikers... he was immediately fed to Judo Olympic Silver Medalist Naoya Ogawa, then to submission grappler specialist Minowaman, and then to elite Judoka "King Kaz" Nakamura (who was Yoshida's top Judo student).
It's stuff like this that makes Mirko Cro Cop's success in MMA look so impressive, he was one of the rare K1 guys to make a smooth transition to MMA
(thanks to his impressive sprawl and having invited Fabricio Werbum to come live in Croatia when he made his move to PRIDE), while almost all the others struggled badly and were submitted/had guys lay on top on them for the full fight, time and time again, by grapplers that Mirko would easily dispatch.
Sure he struggled badly in the UFC, but at that point his body had crazy mileage, having been an amateur boxer, an elite kickboxer and then an elite MMArtist since he was so young, and had had many injuries... in retrospect it's not that surprising that his body started to shut down.
Still a shame that we didn't get that fight against Randy Couture in the UFC, that would have happened had Mirko beaten Gonzaga instead of getting Cro Cop'd himself.
What a shock it was a the time, still one of my biggest heartbreaks in MMA.
I feel Rico Verhoven would do well in mma because he is so down to earth. He is so smart and fights that way that I think he'd do it the right way like Izzy. If Rico did especially with the lack of Heavyweight wrestlers these days in the UFC. He could do really well.
I'd like to see him in MMA as well.

9:00 Overeem and Hari were one and one in kickboxing before Overeem won the trilogy. Overeem was also K-1 Heavyweight Champion.( 2010 ) a little convenient to leave that part out huh ?
You Hari fanboys are so salty... at that point Overeem's last kickboxing bout was *12 years* ago (when he won the 2010 K1WGP), and he had had *22 MMA fights* in the meantime.

It was a short video in which they left a bunch of small details out for every fighter, Badr wasn't targeted in particular.
And yes they were 1-1, but Ubereem had won via devastating first round KO when he was a 2-2 kickboxing nobody with half his fights having taken place ages ago (1999, 2001, 2004...).
Huge upset.
Badr had talked so much shit about Allistair before their fight, and got brutally KTFO in 2 minutes, karma at its finest.
Hari's later win over him was nice, but less emblematic.
Overeem being called Hari's MMA demon when he came back to kickboxing to beat him in their trilogy fight 13 years after their last encounter (and 12 years without a single kickboxing bout) is accurate.

Saki was not a K-1 world grandprix champion. He won the k-1 USA qualifying grandprix, not the world grandprix. Lebanner also only won 2 preliminary grandprix not the world grandprix, though he was the runner up 2x.

Some officials had to known that this chick was pregnant prior to the bout. Fetus endangerment. Or even her team as well. Why would they let her do this? If something were to happen were she lost it due to getting punched in the belly, imagine how her opponent would feel knowing she caused a mis carriage unintentionally. Ppl don't think about this stuff

I always loved Gokhan Saki, I can see why he tried MMA but it was clear he wasn't ready for it when he made the jump. His Kickboxing career was gold, though, dude had amazing hand speed and his combinations were a work of art.
