There's a CSPAN interview from around the first gulf war and Christopher Hitchens is asked how long America will be involved there and he says 100 years. Sounds about right. Looking like 30 years now with no end in sight
I like how Sarge shoots off controlled bursts even in this moment of careless shooting. His fantasy is of on target shooting. Actual combat. Everyone else it's just playing with toys.
His character was in charge of targets and acquisitions. Plus he looked like he was plenty enjoying himself he's just more saltier than the rest of his marines under his command
This literally sums up the last week of Catholic high school and finals before graduation. Passing finals with the skin of your teeth, burning all of your school uniform shirts with your classmates and just acting a fool😂
why wouldn't they just ride back with the Major that called in the airstrike? and communicate with the pickup they're going back with them? i never understood that.
While we're on the subject, I wonder what percentage of the troops in this scene, would have decided they had "The Pee Tee Ess Dee" a few months after returning to civilian life in the land of the big PX?
Thank you for sharing. Full support. Have you seen the most beautiful place in the world by helicopter and walking? See you always together. Greetings to all from Portugal and Brazil 💯👍🇧🇷🗺️🇵🇹💯👍
And in the deleted scene you get to see a poor innocent village not even a mile away start dropping like flies because these Marines forgot about Newton’s first law….
3.23 ughhh you didn't ? not then, a decade later... im confused is this a big mistake by the director ? is the soldier just saying we killed Saddam because they left Kuwait ? This is about the first golf war not the second right ?
@@redelre476 « watch the movie » open a book and look at the history first! Saddam Hussein died in 2006, the movie jarhead is set in 1989, the first gulf war. They didn’t kill Hussein, all they did was manage to push the Iraqis out of Kuwait and force them to pay reparations. Either the director is trying to point out how the soldier is a bit stupid and out of the loop, or it’s just a way of saying « we did it he’s out of Kuwait ». He was still in control of Iraq after the us left so no he was not dead or history at that time. I’m still clueless as to why the soldier said that.
Special thanks to the men and women who died for our country and fighting for our freedom while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Jamie Foxx holding a cigar in his mouth while firing an M60 E4 the most American thing I've ever seen
he was enjoying that
No, its an African warlord thing.
It would be american if instead of cigar it was a crack pipe
I think thats the E3 not E4
That's not an m60, it's a SAW, squad automatic weapon
jack gyllenhaal is one of the best,
I still don't know why his movies are so underated.

Indeed 😂😂
Jamie Foxx shooting that M60 was was the most bad ass thing i've seen in a movie
I love that we can't hear any of them screaming
I have a question. Do bullets ever come back down or do they evaporate into a 'puff of happyness'?
yeah, those bullets travel back down faster and harder than when they’re fired, they can land on people too.

Donnie Darko's days in the Marines.

Great scene!! Public Enemy playing tops it off!!!
