    This guy is a personal hero to me. A few years ago, I was 617 lbs., basically bedridden, with my doctor telling me, "If you can't start breathing normally, we'll have to put you on a ventilator. If you don't make some spiritual changes in how you're living, I'll be signing you death certificate the next time you get sick." I took it to heart, mostly because I want to see my daughter grow up. I'm still a fat ass, but I've lost over 300 lbs, and still working on myself. I feel like Ralphie May: "Don't cheer for that. You know you're fucked when you lose a whole fat guy and you're still fat as hell." But I'm not going to end up like him. I may never be a good-looking guy again, I may never be as strong as I was in my youth, but damnit, I'm going to live to be an old man because I finally decided to have some fucking self respect. Good luck to everyone on the same journey I'm taking.

      Thanks, first of all. Mainly, cut out any processed carbs, especially corn syrups and anything beginning with word "enriched." Drink. More. Water. My doctor, who literally saved my life, gave me the "Rule of Two Hands."
      "You need a handful of protein, and handful of starch, and that's enough food to nourish you all day. Otherwise, go ape shit on fruits and vegetables."
      Again, he saved my life. I'm far away from perfect, but he helped me un-fuck myself in a big way.

      @@ferndawg91 I started out on my first day cleaning my body out. I fasted for a little over 3 days. Helped reset my eating cycle, and also helped get rid of the bad food I ate before. I’d say start off with a fast you can do and then make sure to get some healthier foods. Remember you may fuck up but don’t let that fuck up throw you back into eating like shit again and also if you can’t workout or lazy to workout just take a walk around the block. I was told I had a kidney infection, vitals horrible at age 29, couldn't stop drinking after my college party life and if I continued down that path I wouldn't make it til 40. I'm 36, still sober and watching my diet / working out which is a heather addiction 😊
    That was my story to make the change, everyone has their own and should be proud of it too. Because sometimes it requires giving up what your addicted to which is nearly impossible in some cases but trust me it's POSSIBLE. I was the type of person who would wake up searching for a beer and if I ran out I'd go to the store, didn't matter what time or the weather. My point is the mind is a powerful thing, gain control of it and don't let bad habits own you.

    I was 175lbs at my physical peak in my mid-20s. I ballooned to 230lbs in my 30s, resting heart rate 70, not extreme obesity but I had the recipe for overweight mediocrity. Got into cycling, and learned diet moderation. When your workout is your hobby, it really helps. The more weight you lose, the faster you get on the bike, the better you look in tight cycling clothes, all good motivation. Now I can climb mountains I never dreamed of and am down to 209lbs. I am dialed in and consistent right now that I'm losing a pound a week, resting heart rate is 58, and gained an extra 2 mph avg over the last two months which is HUGE. Goal is get under 200lbs, over 20 mph avg, and resting HR of 55. It can be done.

    Thank you Ethan! For your work on and off the screen! In 2018 I stepped on a scale at work for the first time in years. I was shocked when it said 375lbs. I was thinking I was overestimating at 310-320. I had the same convo with myself, "how will I feel like at 40, 50, will I make it to 60, 70?". I'm now at 250lb (6'2"). My Goal Weight is 225, but as I continue lifting I'm finding this may be more my natural weight. From a 46" waist and 3x, to a 36" waist and an XL, Button-ups in I'm a Large. Just had my yearly physical and bloodwork Doc- "I wish all my patients had these numbers. These are the convos I want to have". Proud of it, and will never let anyone tell me I cant do something ever again, Including Myself!

      Being overweight is basically the same as being on drugs. It’s all about trying to fill a hole in your heart. Some people try to fill it with drugs some try to fill it with food some try to fill it by shopping but it’s all the same. I was 355 got down to 208 in my late 20s. By mid 30s I went back up to 325. Now I’m 41 and back down to 225. It was a lot easier to do when I was 27 but I’m getting it done

    • @kJ922-h3j
      @kJ922-h3j 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@skullcrackers187 to a point, a lot of very overweight people have at best insulin resistance but probably type 2 diabetes. Which makes it very difficult to burn fat when you are running on glucose and insulin. Not to mention your body adjusts it’s metabolism to what you drop your daily calories too, and it can do it permanently if you eat 1000 calories a day for example, as it thinks you only have access to that amount of food so it’s a survival mechanism. If you fast, and pretty much everyone has more than enough extra body fat to fast, it switches to using ketones instead of insulin, and you have an abundance of them so it can actually improve metabolism. There’s a reason properly overweight people always put the weight back on when they think it’s JUST calories in vs calories out

    Relatable
    I was a 250 pounder last year, pasty and pudgy and lazy, past my prime. Fast forward to today - 190lbs, lean, yoked and stoked.
    Diet: more protein, less overall calories
    Exercise: gym 3-4 times a week
    Supplements: daily multivitamin, glucosamine, apple cider vinegar, bcaa

    I got inspired because I could not climb up a small hiking hill with my nephew....I still have problems with yoyoing my diet but ever since then I realized how important health is.

    He was one of my inspirations to lose weight. Since December 2019 I have lost 147lbs. 8 oz lean protein a day and all the non starch vegetables I care to eat and walk 5 miles a day. I've got 30 lbs to goal weight.
