- Edgewater, NJ is a New Jersey town that gets a lot of attention from young people who want to maintain the NYC lifestyle, without actually living in NYC. Many people look at Edgewater as an escape from their Brooklyn or Queens abode. And a lot of other people seek Edgewater as they try to get away from Jersey City, Hoboken, or Weekhawken. Edgewater has a very lively atmosphere and youthful energy, however it is slightly more "grown up" than the rowdy and rambunctious neighboring towns.

My dad worked there when it was still a heavy industrial town. Factories, railroads, but not many apartments. People lived up on top of the cliffs.
Nice Asian and Caucasian mix in Edgewater. Good schools, clean, everything is orderly. Good restaurant and stores and convenient buses and ferries to NYC.

Beautiful town. For families considering moving there, be sure to check out the change in property taxes and school ratings in the last 10 years. Also, be aware of the large development projects in some parts of town, some of which require remediation of contaminated soil which affects air quality. Make sure you want to live in the town that Edgewater will become when those projects are complete. Restaurants have great views, but honestly the food is just ok. Still enjoyable.
