Spring & Autumn used to be longer in length, but since the geo engineering of the weather it's changed, South Dakota doesn't have natural weather anymore, it's all man made! I know because I lived here most of my life (50+ years) many other good reasons not to move to South Dakota, one being is there is no Constitutional courts here ( meaning they don't honor the United States Constitution or your God given rights!

I would like to add that South Dakota doesn't have a state income tax and they also don't have a inheritance tax, low excise tax, low vehicle registration and no estate tax. We became residents of SD this year because they make it easy to travel (we are on the road full time) and have residency in a state. It dropped out vehicle insurance by half and with better insurance. Love South Dakota
Briggs: The best part of South Dakota is the people. We honestly love our neighbor South Dakotans. I live in one of the small towns (that you may be doing a video on soon) and the only time we lock up our vehicle is early fall……because if you don’t lock your vehicle, you may find a box of zucchini, tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers in your front seat from the guy that over planted last spring.. Seriously - I’m not exaggerating. 55 year resident of Hamlin County. And we welcome EVERYONE to become sodaks.
We moved here from Las Vegas, 4 years ago. We bought a home, last year for under 200k in Canton. We love the schools, parks and people. We've made so many friends and live our neighbors. Should have made the move a decade ago, but glad to be here. We get cold, cold weather and a lot of snow but it's a lifestyle and we love it. The other 3 seasons are heavenly and we love what each season offers. We buy our beef from local farmers. We have had 4 successful gardens, we have beautiful wildlife and our children have agriculture classes in school. South Dakota has a lot to offer and a wonderful history. We love it. Our town has just 3,000 people and just love that!
Yeah but homes in Canton shouldn't be near 200k in the first place. It used to be much more affordable here and not that long ago either. The property taxes here are ridiculous, especially in Lincoln County where they like to complete assessments every.single.year therefore homeowners end up having their property taxes go up as well.

South Dakota is very underrated. Its not perfect but I would recommend it to anyone from Milwaukee, Chicago, Detroit, and Minneapolis that is sick of the crime and high taxes in those cities. It was the probably one of the few places in America where you could eat and drink at a bar when the entire nation was on lock down. The sense of freedom, the people there, the outdoors is amazing.

The Dakotas are highly rated. I made the mistake of moving to Florida last year to be closer to family but I'm heading back to fantastic Fargo where I had the highest quality of life out of anywhere I ever lived.
So I drove to Montana this past November from New Jersey. And I drove through South Dakota for the first time ever. I stopped at Mount Rushmore in Badlands national Park, and I just wanna say the Black Hills national Forest area of South Dakota is one of the most beautiful places America has to offer
Grew up in SD, lived there 20+ years. Some things good, some things bad. Winter is 6+ months long, bone-chilling cold, always windy. Spring is wet and sloppy. Fall is really nice for 2 weeks. Summer is humid and windy, but that blows the mosquitos away. I have live in bone dry Utah for the last 30+ years. Love going back to SD for 2 weeks for fishing, seeing the color green, quick hunting trip, but the winters make it uninhabitable for me. I'll visit, but no way am I staying. Other than hunting or fishing there isn't much to do. Alcohol flows freely. You decide if that is good or bad.

Nice to hear. I grew up in Southern CA. Wife and I are conservative and looking for somewhere where we can enjoy the outdoors and a little bit of property. Tired of the people here. They are hostile, unfriendly and drive like shit. The stated is a money sucker crime friendly and should win a trophy for the stupidest governor the state has ever had.
South Dakota does fly under the radar. The weather is on the extreme end of the spectrum for most Americans to consider it as a relocation hotspot but it’s worth talking about as a place to raise a family or spend part of the year in retirement. I spent an extended period of time there in 2021, specifically the northeast part of the state. It’s distinctly more “Midwest” with a strong sense of community and high quality of life even for people making average incomes. It surprised me that most families owned a boat or an ATV for example. It was hard to go anywhere without encountering talkative, friendly people and genuine, helpful customer service. Eastern SD is distinctly different compared with western SD, though, which looks and has a culture more in line with Wyoming or Montana. Cross the Missouri River and the corn fields turn into cattle ranches, towns into villages and houses into homesteads. It’s not for everyone, but if it is there are few places better.

Lived in Rapid City for 3 years while in the military and loved it. Its the closest you'll ever get to a city in a Hallmark Christmas movie. People are super friendly, it has a small town feel but its large enough to have all the major big box stores/retail you want. Good food scene for the size city, breakfast at Tally's was *muah*. And the bike festival brings in some of the biggest names in concerts. Saw Blink 182 live at the Buffalo Chip for free.
A lot of these residents don’t actually stay and live in South Dakota. It’s extremely easy to establish residency in SD. All you have to do is stay for a day or two in a hotel or campground and you can declare residency, get a license, address, etc. This is extremely appealing to a growing population of retirees and “Nomads” who live in RVs and travel around the country full time. They need a domicile and South Dakota has favorable tax rates as well as making it easy to “reside” there so it’s become a popular place to “move” to and that is undoubtedly skewing the population numbers. If you doubt this, go to an RV campground in a popular recreational area and half the license plates are from South Dakota.
I was born in Texas but grew up in South Dakota since I was 4. After being around the US in Virginia and California, and being around the world in Mexico and Africa I always miss my state. Low cost of living and the people themselves are great. Plus for me personally I actually like the cold lol
I honestly can't blame people for moving to South Dakota. It's an incredibly beautiful state and not all that many people living there. I could be mistaken but I think Sioux Falls is the most populated city in the state and it only has around 200k people living there, which is up a ton since I last visited.
My parents want to move out there, and at first I was hesitant, but after I visited the state near Yankton, I realized that there is a lot of charm South Dakota has to offer. The people seem to be friendlier than any other state I've visited
For the most part that is true especially the smaller towns and cities. I have lived near sioux falls for 71 years and have noticed a steady decline in curious drivers and if I happen to remark about something to a shopper in wall mart I get that " your weird" look. Still in all, if you smile and say hi you will likely get a pleasant response and a smile in return. I'm guessing the ones with the your weird attitude didn't grow up here.
Let's see........ the current leadership in SD is protecting the family unit, protecting children from adults trying to prey on them through the "trans" movement, keeping taxes and regulation to a minimum, protecting their natural resources while not destroying businesses in the process, and keep people as free as possible. Believe it or not, a lot of people still want to live in a place where they are free and don't have a burdensome government to deal with at every turn.
I've met people from South Dakota that have moved to Wisconsin before I moved from thete. They are some of the friendliest people I have met. I would recommend moving there if you're looking for a new direction in life. Whether you're young or retired.
I grew up in so cal as well. When I moved to Washington in my mid twenties I fell in love with how leaves started small, grew bigger, changed color and fell off. Who knew? LOL

NC taxes you anyway it can. $500+ auto registration tax, high state income tax, very high gas tax, $800 doc fee to buy a car, they even charge you extra fees just to pay your bills online, annoying yearly auto inspections. Here in SD there's no state income tax, no auto inspections, cheap auto registrations, houses are cheaper, not crowded, more open space.
I moved to Sioux Falls earlier this year and I don't regret it all.Friendly folks,low cost of living and low crime rate.The westside of the state is the more prettier side and it brings all the tourists and has the national parks but the eastern part is more populated and has the better shopping and restaurants.
Moved to Pierre, SD 2 years ago. Very friendly place! Now have lots of good friends. Beautiful scenery and high quality of life. My only regret is not moving here sooner.
South Dakota is cheap because wages are so low across all sectors of the economy. Local businesses can't charge as much for services because people can't afford to pay higher prices. People save for years to put a 20% down-payment on a $150,000 home. If everything was really cheaper, it would be fine, but you're still paying the same as everyone else in the country for a new car, your health insurance, your cell phone bill, online retail, ... the list goes on. Some things like gas are marginally cheaper, other things like higher education are way cheaper, but then you have high property tax and heating bills. It's not as cheap as you'd think unless you're already retired or living off passive income. And as far as cheap hobbies go, there's not much across most of the state besides hunting, fishing, and internet stuff.
SD is huge for pheasant Hunting. People come from all over the world. Born and raised here. Good place to raise a family. Humid hot summers,cold winters. Spring and fall are nice when we have them.
Some of your comments seem to relate more to East River South Dakota as opposed to West River South Dakota. And yes, that's a thing. I live West River in the Black Hills and housing here is really expensive. Not NYC expensive, but way more than the average for the state. I live in the southern part of the Black Hills and our weather is very similar to Denver. It gets cold, dang cold, and snows. But the snow tends to melt quickly due to the strong sunshine. I grew up in a state with the "Midwest gloom" during the winter. Yes, that's a thing too. I love the sunny days here. North Dakota and Minnesota have far more brutal winters then we do.
North Dakotan here. West North Dakota is great but just large towns mostly. The Black Hills are even more beautiful but they have Rapid City which is an actual significant city. When I'm done living everywhere I plan on settling there!

What will be significant is the looming water problems on the horizon. Yes, there are far too many people there for that kind of carrying capacity.

Just so you guys know the winters here are brutal they are long, dark, It doesn't snow that much and it's just bitterly cold. At least a few times a year it gets down to -40 actual temp, and the wind blows all the time. Literally all the time, you notice when it stops. If you do move here, remember South Dakota is the way it is because of what we believe, do not try and change it. Otherwise South Dakota will just turn into whatever crappy place it was that you moved from.
Don't forget there is a 3 hour drive to any bigger towns for medical, any shopping or even kids sports teams have to take day off school to drive up to 5hrs just for basketball or any other school sports. Very windy here sometimes it is nice out but cant do anything outside because of the wind. If your thinking of moving here please stay awhile first then decide if this is for you.
Medical care is now telemedicine. Technology can put a specialist in the room with you no matter where you are. When I was 70 I was hospitalized in a tiny rural hospital with a diagnosis of sepsis. A nurse practitioner was responsible for my medical care, but she was in frequent contact with an internist in Sioux Falls. That diagnosis, in a patient of that age, would never have been managed that way in the past. Air transport is available for people who must get to a tertiary care facility in a hurry.
Only a small percentage of South Dakota's population lives 3 hours from a city with medical facilities and shopping. Most of South Dakota's counties are very sparsely populated (especially in the western half) and much of the state's population is very concentrated. Over 20% of the state's population is in Sioux Falls and probably somewhere around another 20% is within an hour or so drive of it. Well over half of the state's population is in or around Sioux Falls or Rapid City. In the eastern half where a large percentage of the rest of the population is there are some smaller cities (relative to Sioux Falls and Rapid City) scattered about that have medical facilities and shopping (although for major medical issues Sioux Falls is obviously better).
@@deepdude4719 exaggerating The furthest distance between Walmart Supercenters is between the stores located in Pierre and Rapid City, and google maps says they are 2 1/2 hours apart. Wherever you are in South Dakota, there is probably a Walmart nearby. If you are in the northern part of South Dakota, there are 6 walmarts spread out across I-94 in North Dakota. Western Nebraska, however, doesn't seem to have any, so residents of the southwest corner of South Dakota might find it more convenient to go to one in Wyoming

I’ve lived in South Dakota my whole life ❤ I believe its overall just a nice place to live you got a little of everything you got cities like Minneapolis that are really like the “Big City“but there’s just enough here in Sioux Falls where you have all you really need and west river feels like you’re in a totally different state when you’re not way different scenery and different atmosphere and for that matter even different weather. Then if you want to get away from the “city“ life it’s not that far of a drive away from Sioux Falls. Proud to live here ❤😊

The Black Hills have a lot of national forest land, with free camping everywhere... also, we have recently legalized medical cannabis, so this is great for people who want a medicine that is safe and efficacious... and our first cannabis dispensary was opened in flandreau, South Dakota, by Native Americans. The Indians are way ahead of us w h i t e s on some things.
Didn’t the Native dispensaries get shut down in Flandreau? It’s been a while since I’ve kept up with SD politics, but I know that Kristi Noem shut down the will of the people who voted for legal medical cannabis, because she received word from law enforcement that it would be difficult to distinguish hemp from marijuana. Also, is Mad Mary’s in Flandreau still the best steakhouse ever? I miss that place.

@@samgould8567 they were shut down briefly but not by the governor. The state doesn't have jurisdiction on the reservations It's complicated. The reservations are under federal jurisdiction so I guess they have to be set up outside the rez in order to be legal. Everybody blames the state government for what the federal government does on the reservations.
@@samgould8567 The governor didn't throw out the law that legalized recreational marijuana, the state supreme court did. I think it was law enforcement that challenged it on constitutional grounds. As usual the proponents of an initiated measure didn't bother to write a viable bill, we have a legislative research council which will look over bills before they go on ballots as initiated measures or before they are introduced to the legislature, and they can make recommendations and explain "you wrote it wrong," but they can't force anybody to make corrections, (the stupid is strong here at times) and in the case of initiated measures, the Attorney General will write up a paragraph explaining what an initiated measure will do and that's printed on the ballot right above the measure. unfortunately the voters don't bother to read caveats like "if passed, this will be challenged on constitutional grounds." which is just legalese for "this f--king thing is crap." I mean, if you want to put a measure on the ballot re-establishing slavery here you can do it, you can actually get enough signatures from idiots to put such a thing on the ballot. Really. We get a lot of crap measures on the ballot, and then people who didn't bother to read what they were voting for complain when the state supreme court tosses it out, or the legislature passes an emergency measure to nullify it. If you want to write a viable bill you need to listen to the lawyers when they tell you what you need to fix. On the other hand, if you want to craft an initiated measure requiring the state treasurer to give you a million bucks every year on your birthday, and then tell people it's a poverty-relief measure, you can easily get enough bone-headed people to sign the petition, get it on the ballot and vote for it. And then you, too, can complain that "they're ignoring the will of the people!" when it gets tossed because only the legislature is allowed to make appropriations.
yes well we have seen what marijuana does to people:,it makes them unemployable It's an excellent drug for somebody in hospice care because it induces the apathy of demerol, and the euphoria of morphine, without all the negative side effects of either. It's fine for a retiree of 81 years of age, go ahead. But nobody wants to hire stoners. Nobody wants to work with stoners. And therein lies the trouble with it. The same effects that it has on somebody dying of a terminal disease are the effects that make a user unemployable: the combination of apathy and euphoria aren't good on the job. While an employee with euphoria might be fun at times, couple that with apathy and you have an absolutely worthless person on your staff. They aren't going to do a good job, if they even bother to show up.

Basically it sux everywhere. One can find awesomeness anywhere they live. The problem is so many of us have moved from our nest to others nests. And then expect everyone in new nest to have same views. Obviously won't happen so what has happened is too many kids born in the 90s /early 2000 and even now moved. We use to get along better. But some odd reason kids thought about a better life elsewhere under the thinking life would be better. Never really is. Remember the place you want to Vaca or move to is usually someone else's hell they want out of.

There's a lot of information missing in this video. The biggest problem they didn't mention was the wages. Most ppl can't afford the housing and utilities because wages are extremely low. Don't be fooled into thinking it's cheap and easy here.
My home state was South Dakota. I was born and raised in the Black Hills region. I attended elementary school, Middle School, and most of high school in Rapid City South Dakota. Alot of what I learned in South Dakota has come in handy here in Medford Oregon. One example is to dress for the weather and to not let the harsh elements slow you down. Not that it gets anywhere near as extreme here in Medford Oregon as it does in Rapid City South Dakota, but still good skills 👍 ro have.
Glad you pointed this out. In most parts of the world, dressing for the weather is instinctual and just common sense. But in South Dakota, it is an acquired skill. Hmmmm. That pretty much says it all.
The other thing to think about, in terms of statistics, is that a lot of vanlifers and RVers domicile in South Dakota... Meaning on paper they 'live' in SD, but in reality, they're all over the country.
South Dakota has many dif types of land, mountain forest in the far west (Blackhills), desert like (the Badland), Grasslands and flatland that is some of the best farmland anywere.
As of 2021, Bill Gates owns farmland in Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska (plus many states to the west and east) and the North Dakota government just facilitated his buying up farmland there. The North Dakota government argued that he said he'd lease it out to locals. Lol. Hopefully, South Dakota will keep him out. Gates absolutely is working overtime to get his hands on that South Dakota farmland.

My brother lived in California his whole adult life, he brought his friend who was born in California here one summer. He wanted to know how we knew how much food we'd need for the winter! When we got done laughing we explained we are not bears, we don't hibernate.
I’ve lived in SD my whole life and when I was younger we took a class trip to NYC and someone actually asked me if we “ride Buffalo to school” and if we had brought them with to NYC! 🤦🏼♂️ I told him that we had to rent out a huge storage unit to house our Buffalo. I went to South Dakota last year, and had such a pleasant time I went again a couple months ago. I absolutely love it there and want to move there when I’m older. Yeah there’s some parts where there’s nothing but grass for as far as the eye can see, but it’s a really interesting and serene state! Perfect place to get away from the madness. And for those wanting to visit, I was in Box Elder, just outside Rapid City, early September… it was 105 degrees! Also there’s this town quite literally in the middle of nowhere in near Murdo that is completely the original buildings from the 1880s. It’s a whole small town with train cars, a museum, gas station, and old school vibes. Dancing with Wolves was filmed there! I really hope South Dakota doesn’t get too touristy, but I know for myself I’ll definitely be going back when I have the chance again. I love the state.
I left Seattle and moved to smithwick SD and I got a home for $350,000 on five acres of land. In seattle area the same home would cost 2.5 millions to 3 million dollars. Property taxes in seatlle for that land would be $12,000. And in smithwick property tax is $ 4,400 a year.
Moved here from CA in 2021 (due to the Pandemic shuttering my family business of 17 years and forcing our kids out of school for over 1.5 years). I had never been here before in my life and moved to it for literally all the reasons in this video - additionally though, no income tax was a big factor as well. Yes the seasons can be extreme with 110* heat with 90% humidity during summer and winters with -30*/-40*/50* wind-chill but we do have 4 seasons and it makes you appreciate the pleasant days of both summer and winter time. Really wished I had moved here sooner in my life, being middle aged and from CA I had never owned a home, that only happened once I moved to SD!
Rarely will you get 90% humidity west River-I was born west River but went to college east river….. recently lived in Rapid City 2007-2020. Never humid- moving back from MT - I love SD

I will say this though, if you live here and/or from here, folks have no idea the tides that are turning in this state. It's disheartening and soon enough Sioux Falls (which is highly liberal with 20 something year olds) will be the voting block for this entire state. Folks never believe me when I say this but Sioux Falls is very similar to San Francisco and how folks are. If something doesn't change, there is going to be huge changes to SD and that will be very unfortunate to say the least.

I was born in sd and the one of the bad things that I don’t like about a lot of people moving here is that not a lot of them are used to driving in the snow or know how to. Also there’s more crime
I agree. I grew up in SD every once in a while before many people started moving here. I would come across gang members in bars down town. On more than one occasion. They stick out like a sore thumb running there mouth act all tuff. I'd ask them why did you come here. To quit gang life. Unfortunately they seem to bring it with them. In jail in a couple months or weeks.
Moved here in early 2021 despite being penniless because I thought, hey, even if RvW will never be overturned, at least I can live somewhere a majority of people want it to be. As things turned out, within a year or so I was now living in a fundamentally sane place for the first time in my life. Pretty good move I'd say.
I may choose to live here if I retire on a 2200/month social sec at 63. Apartments seem to be lower than everywhere else. Used to snow, being that I'm in idaho.
I moved to hot springs 2 yrs ago and love it . Almost too quiet. But being from Colorado where its dry i hate the humidity for a few months in summer. Everyone says its nothing compared to their state but I was spoiled.
Depending on where you got your data, it's quite possible many took advantage of the nomad life and set up residency in SD in 24hrs. That means the increase in numbers could encompass those who relocate to SD.
Good point. Lots of full-times take advantage of our residency laws. Wish it was that easy to establish residency for in-state tuition rates. USD requires a full year.

Yes, let's see digital nomads make yet another innocent state too expensive. The trend now seems to be remote workers moving in, driving up costs in an area, and then leaving because the new place is now too expensive. Remote workers have been cited to be the primary cause of the national housing crisis. NBC News wrote an article, called, "The remote workers have left, but the housing havoc they created remains." Look it up. There are many other news outlets that've written about the problem. "Geographic arbitrage," ruins communities and backfires in the end. Worse, high rents are driving our current inflation. Look that up, too. There is no such thing as free money. You win in the short run but in the long run, everybody loses, including yourself. Also, some of these areas will be left with a high cost of living for years even after you leave. If you move in and wonder why locals don't like you, look to see if your area has a housing crisis. Don't write off the scorn you receive with stupid stereotypes about the state you've relocated to. Stereotypes are for ignorant people. This is an important issue, which deserves due consideration because it's even making people with good jobs homeless. Vice Magazine did a lovely video on remote workers and gentrification. The video is about how local workers a digital nomad hot spot in Colorado are forced into homelessness and or leaving. The irony is that town, like so many similar to it, is running out of people to run the restaurants, schools, and other town businesses. What is happening right now with our national crisis is causing untold damage to countless lives. It's very vexing to see that the only thing seem to care about is their wallets, while forgetting that there are other people who deserve shelter.
My favorite thing about South Dakota is the wether especially eintet and hunting and fishing and any thing outdoors we saw a big big buck and go on a fishing trip every year so fun
If you're just traveling through SD and going by way of Sioux Falls you really want to stop and see Falls Park. The pink quartz water falls are beautiful.
South Dakota is just cheap real estate and endless highways between small towns. If "everyone" is moving to SD why is the population so small? A considerable percentage of South Dakota newbies are white flight/right flight. The state is beautiful; I'd put it up there with Greenland.
Already live here we've expanded so much and so many houses have come up since I moved here in 2014. It's so beautiful here. Even tho we retired the air force we stuck around here. Winter this year hasn't been showing itself much yet. 💜🌻 if your a crafter and move here we should be friends. Haha 😄 Ugh sturgis is awesome and sucks at the same time because the traffic gets insane. I love Deadwood ❤️ 😍 try the all you can eat prime rib and crab buffet.
I grew up in South Dakota... and the Healthcare isn't great in South Dakota. Healthcare is great in Sioux Falls, and Rapid City. There isn't even a doctor on the floor full time in some of these hospitals.
I agree, the healthcare totally sucks here! At least in Rapid, there are no good primary doctors and specialists are very rare to find. And it is EXPENSIVE! I'm trying to move out of state so I can have my health issues properly addressed and treated.
By national standards, Sioux Falls healthcare is pretty good. Rapid City is a notch below. In the other larger towns the quality is uneven. And in the smaller towns there may be no doctor at all, for miles.
Just moved to South Dakota this month! Al beit, for military. However, I grew up in SoCal myself and moved to Nebraska 12 years ago and absolutely loved the midwest vibe.
Half of South Dakota is part of the Midwest. Anything East of the Missouri River is the Midwest as its just corn and soy fields, anything west of it is the Great Plains/West

Residency requirement is that you stay one night in a motel or campground and take your receipt from your stay to the driver's license bureau. You state you plan to settle in SD and pay a mail service to act as your "home address" and you don't have to stay in the state to be considered a resident from then on.
I want to add (as a disabled vet) that the Black Hills VA Healthcare System is awesome. I would consider the Black Hills VA one of the best in the country. They care about the vets here.
I will add that South Dakota is not entirely a “Midwestern” state like Minnesota, Wisconsin, or Michigan. The eastern half shares many similarities in terms of Midwest culture, farming, lots of small towns, etc. However, western South Dakota is much more similar to Wyoming & Montana, is in the Mountain time zone, and has a very different culture and economy than the “Midwest” has. That’s why I simply put SD in the “Northern Plains” region. It’s really not the Midwest or the Mountain West.

I’m currently living in South Dakota and you can always adventure and enjoy the summer warm. Most of crimes in South Dakota are in Sioux Falls. You can visit South Dakota’s Landmarks (Mount Rushmore) we have some great water parks like wild water west in Sioux Falls, splash central in Huron and much more. Huron features the worlds largest statue pheasant with some fine dining in the city as well. Mitchell features the Worlds only Corn palace! In the summer there are many campgrounds and hotels. South Dakota’s state fair is featured in Huron. Storybook land in Aberdeen. And much more in between With Brookings, Watertown, Yankton, + much more!

The problem is that people move here and expect the residents of South Dakota to act like the place you came from. Respect us before you get decide to come here. Recently stayed in Spearfish SD while on a cross country road trip. Was surprised at the fact that they had a decent sized hospital and just a mile a way an urgent care center. Seemed like alot for a city of about 12k. Nice little town from what i could see in my overnight stay.
The Black Hills are still expensive to buy a house and not many career opportunities for professionals unless you're a Dr. Wages in the Hills don't support the high land and home costs. Mostly blue collar and service jobs. I would move to Spearfish today if I could find a job that paid well enough.
Unfortunately it is only get more and more expensive to move to the Hills because of all the people who have moved in and been able to scoop up land and/or property, cash in hand. Even the cost of undeveloped land east river has become absurd compared to costs just a couple years ago. Outsiders see it as "affordable" while those who have lived here their whole lives, and same for their families before them, are being priced out of ever being able to buy their own property and even an acre of land.
I’d move to SD in a heart beat! I have a sick kid so hospitals are very very important. A more realistic location for us would be Cincinnati because it has the number one pediatric G.I. clinic in the US but SD would be awesome!
Sanford hospital has a really excellent pediatric hospital in sioux falls. They even biult a large biulding that looks like a fairytale castle. Denny sanford established premier bank and he and his wife have donated billions to the hospital and sports facilities. They may not be no 1 but they are world class. My girlfriend has 6 different diseases and had 6 specialists . They were excellent .
As a SD REALTOR and TH-camr, I agree with all your points! Having helped numerous people move into the state in the past few years, I've heard each one of these reasons. And yes - my comments were filled with "don't bring your politics"...but all of my buyers wouldn't dream of changing a thing. 😎👍 well done!

I would like to add that South Dakota doesn't have a state income tax and they also don't have a inheritance tax, low excise tax, low vehicle registration and no estate tax. We became residents of SD this year because they make it easy to travel (we are on the road full time) and have residency in a state. It dropped out vehicle insurance by half and with better insurance. Love South Dakota

Briggs: The best part of South Dakota is the people. We honestly love our neighbor South Dakotans. I live in one of the small towns (that you may be doing a video on soon) and the only time we lock up our vehicle is early fall……because if you don’t lock your vehicle, you may find a box of zucchini, tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers in your front seat from the guy that over planted last spring.. Seriously - I’m not exaggerating.

We moved here from Las Vegas, 4 years ago.
We bought a home, last year for under 200k in Canton. We love the schools, parks and people.
We've made so many friends and live our neighbors. Should have made the move a decade ago, but glad to be here.
We get cold, cold weather and a lot of snow but it's a lifestyle and we love it. The other 3 seasons are heavenly and we love what each season offers.
We buy our beef from local farmers. We have had 4 successful gardens, we have beautiful wildlife and our children have agriculture classes in school.
South Dakota has a lot to offer and a wonderful history. We love it.
Our town has just 3,000 people and just love that!
Yeah but homes in Canton shouldn't be near 200k in the first place. It used to be much more affordable here and not that long ago either. The property taxes here are ridiculous, especially in Lincoln County where they like to complete assessments every.single.year therefore homeowners end up having their property taxes go up as well.

I was thinking of moving to rural southern Indiana, to be closer to my Chicagoland family. Just wondering why everyone wants to leave Indiana. (I'll admit to wanting to avoid the Chicago Metro and Indy areas).
South Dakota is very underrated. Its not perfect but I would recommend it to anyone from Milwaukee, Chicago, Detroit, and Minneapolis that is sick of the crime and high taxes in those cities. It was the probably one of the few places in America where you could eat and drink at a bar when the entire nation was on lock down. The sense of freedom, the people there, the outdoors is amazing.

The Dakotas are highly rated. I made the mistake of moving to Florida last year to be closer to family but I'm heading back to fantastic Fargo where I had the highest quality of life out of anywhere I ever lived.

So I drove to Montana this past November from New Jersey. And I drove through South Dakota for the first time ever. I stopped at Mount Rushmore in Badlands national Park, and I just wanna say the Black Hills national Forest area of South Dakota is one of the most beautiful places America has to offer

Grew up in SD, lived there 20+ years. Some things good, some things bad. Winter is 6+ months long, bone-chilling cold, always windy. Spring is wet and sloppy. Fall is really nice for 2 weeks. Summer is humid and windy, but that blows the mosquitos away. I have live in bone dry Utah for the last 30+ years. Love going back to SD for 2 weeks for fishing, seeing the color green, quick hunting trip, but the winters make it uninhabitable for me. I'll visit, but no way am I staying. Other than hunting or fishing there isn't much to do. Alcohol flows freely. You decide if that is good or bad.

Nice to hear. I grew up in Southern CA. Wife and I are conservative and looking for somewhere where we can enjoy the outdoors and a little bit of property. Tired of the people here. They are hostile, unfriendly and drive like shit. The stated is a money sucker crime friendly and should win a trophy for the stupidest governor the state has ever had.
South Dakota does fly under the radar. The weather is on the extreme end of the spectrum for most Americans to consider it as a relocation hotspot but it’s worth talking about as a place to raise a family or spend part of the year in retirement. I spent an extended period of time there in 2021, specifically the northeast part of the state. It’s distinctly more “Midwest” with a strong sense of community and high quality of life even for people making average incomes. It surprised me that most families owned a boat or an ATV for example. It was hard to go anywhere without encountering talkative, friendly people and genuine, helpful customer service. Eastern SD is distinctly different compared with western SD, though, which looks and has a culture more in line with Wyoming or Montana. Cross the Missouri River and the corn fields turn into cattle ranches, towns into villages and houses into homesteads. It’s not for everyone, but if it is there are few places better.
Just like ND, people move in and see what the winters are like and move right back out ..

Lived in Rapid City for 3 years while in the military and loved it. Its the closest you'll ever get to a city in a Hallmark Christmas movie. People are super friendly, it has a small town feel but its large enough to have all the major big box stores/retail you want. Good food scene for the size city, breakfast at Tally's was *muah*. And the bike festival brings in some of the biggest names in concerts. Saw Blink 182 live at the Buffalo Chip for free.

I'm not much of a hunter, I just love how everyone treated me like a neighbor when I was passing through the beautiful state and great scenery
A lot of these residents don’t actually stay and live in South Dakota. It’s extremely easy to establish residency in SD. All you have to do is stay for a day or two in a hotel or campground and you can declare residency, get a license, address, etc.
This is extremely appealing to a growing population of retirees and “Nomads” who live in RVs and travel around the country full time. They need a domicile and South Dakota has favorable tax rates as well as making it easy to “reside” there so it’s become a popular place to “move” to and that is undoubtedly skewing the population numbers.
If you doubt this, go to an RV campground in a popular recreational area and half the license plates are from South Dakota.
I was born in Texas but grew up in South Dakota since I was 4. After being around the US in Virginia and California, and being around the world in Mexico and Africa I always miss my state. Low cost of living and the people themselves are great. Plus for me personally I actually like the cold lol
I honestly can't blame people for moving to South Dakota. It's an incredibly beautiful state and not all that many people living there. I could be mistaken but I think Sioux Falls is the most populated city in the state and it only has around 200k people living there, which is up a ton since I last visited.

My parents want to move out there, and at first I was hesitant, but after I visited the state near Yankton, I realized that there is a lot of charm South Dakota has to offer. The people seem to be friendlier than any other state I've visited
For the most part that is true especially the smaller towns and cities. I have lived near sioux falls for 71 years and have noticed a steady decline in curious drivers and if I happen to remark about something to a shopper in wall mart I get that " your weird" look. Still in all, if you smile and say hi you will likely get a pleasant response and a smile in return. I'm guessing the ones with the your weird attitude didn't grow up here.

Let's see........ the current leadership in SD is protecting the family unit, protecting children from adults trying to prey on them through the "trans" movement, keeping taxes and regulation to a minimum, protecting their natural resources while not destroying businesses in the process, and keep people as free as possible.
Believe it or not, a lot of people still want to live in a place where they are free and don't have a burdensome government to deal with at every turn.
I've met people from South Dakota that have moved to Wisconsin before I moved from thete. They are some of the friendliest people I have met. I would recommend moving there if you're looking for a new direction in life. Whether you're young or retired.

NC taxes you anyway it can. $500+ auto registration tax, high state income tax, very high gas tax, $800 doc fee to buy a car, they even charge you extra fees just to pay your bills online, annoying yearly auto inspections.
Here in SD there's no state income tax, no auto inspections, cheap auto registrations, houses are cheaper, not crowded, more open space.

I moved to Sioux Falls earlier this year and I don't regret it all.Friendly folks,low cost of living and low crime rate.The westside of the state is the more prettier side and it brings all the tourists and has the national parks but the eastern part is more populated and has the better shopping and restaurants.
Low crime rate for now. Just like so many other states invaded by Californians, the peace and quiet may be coming to an end.

Moved to Pierre, SD 2 years ago. Very friendly place! Now have lots of good friends. Beautiful scenery and high quality of life. My only regret is not moving here sooner.

South Dakota is cheap because wages are so low across all sectors of the economy. Local businesses can't charge as much for services because people can't afford to pay higher prices. People save for years to put a 20% down-payment on a $150,000 home. If everything was really cheaper, it would be fine, but you're still paying the same as everyone else in the country for a new car, your health insurance, your cell phone bill, online retail, ... the list goes on. Some things like gas are marginally cheaper, other things like higher education are way cheaper, but then you have high property tax and heating bills. It's not as cheap as you'd think unless you're already retired or living off passive income. And as far as cheap hobbies go, there's not much across most of the state besides hunting, fishing, and internet stuff.

Some of your comments seem to relate more to East River South Dakota as opposed to West River South Dakota. And yes, that's a thing. I live West River in the Black Hills and housing here is really expensive. Not NYC expensive, but way more than the average for the state. I live in the southern part of the Black Hills and our weather is very similar to Denver. It gets cold, dang cold, and snows. But the snow tends to melt quickly due to the strong sunshine. I grew up in a state with the "Midwest gloom" during the winter. Yes, that's a thing too. I love the sunny days here. North Dakota and Minnesota have far more brutal winters then we do.
For small towns, Brandon, SD is incredible! The schools were voted best in the state, people are friendly, and the homes are beautiful and affordable.
I live in Brandon. Moved here from Sioux Falls a year ago. It's great for families. Absolute HELL for singles. I'm moving next year.
I've always hated Brandon, their police are the strictest as well.
When I worked in the chemical dependency field Brandon was one of the top schools in the area for hard drug use.

North Dakotan here. West North Dakota is great but just large towns mostly. The Black Hills are even more beautiful but they have Rapid City which is an actual significant city. When I'm done living everywhere I plan on settling there!

Just so you guys know the winters here are brutal they are long, dark, It doesn't snow that much and it's just bitterly cold. At least a few times a year it gets down to -40 actual temp, and the wind blows all the time. Literally all the time, you notice when it stops. If you do move here, remember South Dakota is the way it is because of what we believe, do not try and change it. Otherwise South Dakota will just turn into whatever crappy place it was that you moved from.

Don't forget there is a 3 hour drive to any bigger towns for medical, any shopping or even kids sports teams have to take day off school to drive up to 5hrs just for basketball or any other school sports. Very windy here sometimes it is nice out but cant do anything outside because of the wind. If your thinking of moving here please stay awhile first then decide if this is for you.
Medical care is now telemedicine. Technology can put a specialist in the room with you no matter where you are.
When I was 70 I was hospitalized in a tiny rural hospital with a diagnosis of sepsis. A nurse practitioner was responsible for my medical care, but she was in frequent contact with an internist in Sioux Falls.
That diagnosis, in a patient of that age, would never have been managed that way in the past. Air transport is available for people who must get to a tertiary care facility in a hurry.
No big stores in the area?
Only a small percentage of South Dakota's population lives 3 hours from a city with medical facilities and shopping. Most of South Dakota's counties are very sparsely populated (especially in the western half) and much of the state's population is very concentrated.
Over 20% of the state's population is in Sioux Falls and probably somewhere around another 20% is within an hour or so drive of it. Well over half of the state's population is in or around Sioux Falls or Rapid City. In the eastern half where a large percentage of the rest of the population is there are some smaller cities (relative to Sioux Falls and Rapid City) scattered about that have medical facilities and shopping (although for major medical issues Sioux Falls is obviously better).

The furthest distance between Walmart Supercenters is between the stores located in Pierre and Rapid City, and google maps says they are 2 1/2 hours apart. Wherever you are in South Dakota, there is probably a Walmart nearby. If you are in the northern part of South Dakota, there are 6 walmarts spread out across I-94 in North Dakota. Western Nebraska, however, doesn't seem to have any, so residents of the southwest corner of South Dakota might find it more convenient to go to one in Wyoming

I’m one of those that really enjoyed my stay in South Dakota while on pilgrimage to Sturgis. The western part of the state is so beautiful.
Vermillion, Yankton, Brookings, Madison, Huron, Aberdeen, Watertown…..Rapid…..all incredibly great places…if you can’t handle winter…DO NOT MOVE THERE. I’d live there if I weren’t a Jazz musician. LOL

I’ve lived in South Dakota my whole life ❤ I believe its overall just a nice place to live you got a little of everything you got cities like Minneapolis that are really like the “Big City“but there’s just enough here in Sioux Falls where you have all you really need and west river feels like you’re in a totally different state when you’re not way different scenery and different atmosphere and for that matter even different weather. Then if you want to get away from the “city“ life it’s not that far of a drive away from Sioux Falls. Proud to live here ❤😊

The Indians are way ahead of us w h i t e s on some things.

It’s been a while since I’ve kept up with SD politics, but I know that Kristi Noem shut down the will of the people who voted for legal medical cannabis, because she received word from law enforcement that it would be difficult to distinguish hemp from marijuana. Also, is Mad Mary’s in Flandreau still the best steakhouse ever? I miss that place.

It's complicated. The reservations are under federal jurisdiction so I guess they have to be set up outside the rez in order to be legal.

As usual the proponents of an initiated measure didn't bother to write a viable bill, we have a legislative research council which will look over bills before they go on ballots as initiated measures or before they are introduced to the legislature, and they can make recommendations and explain "you wrote it wrong," but they can't force anybody to make corrections,
(the stupid is strong here at times) and in the case of initiated measures, the Attorney General will write up a paragraph explaining what an initiated measure will do and that's printed on the ballot right above the measure. unfortunately the voters don't bother to read caveats like "if passed, this will be challenged on constitutional grounds." which is just legalese for "this f--king thing is crap."
I mean, if you want to put a measure on the ballot re-establishing slavery here you can do it, you can actually get enough signatures from idiots to put such a thing on the ballot. Really. We get a lot of crap measures on the ballot, and then people who didn't bother to read what they were voting for complain when the state supreme court tosses it out, or the legislature passes an emergency measure to nullify it. If you want to write a viable bill you need to listen to the lawyers when they tell you what you need to fix.
On the other hand, if you want to craft an initiated measure requiring the state treasurer to give you a million bucks every year on your birthday, and then tell people it's a poverty-relief measure, you can easily get enough bone-headed people to sign the petition, get it on the ballot and vote for it. And then you, too, can complain that "they're ignoring the will of the people!" when it gets tossed because only the legislature is allowed to make appropriations.

They aren't going to do a good job, if they even bother to show up.

I love living in SD but we definitely have cold winters and hot summers so if you come here please be prepared for sub-zero & top temps over 100.

I love that you made this video about South Dakota. Us South Dakotans know how special it is. Interesting how you grew up in Southern California and felt sheltered. I grew up in Deadwood and felt sheltered. I do love it here though. The people and places are magic

Basically it sux everywhere. One can find awesomeness anywhere they live. The problem is so many of us have moved from our nest to others nests. And then expect everyone in new nest to have same views. Obviously won't happen so what has happened is too many kids born in the 90s /early 2000 and even now moved. We use to get along better. But some odd reason kids thought about a better life elsewhere under the thinking life would be better. Never really is. Remember the place you want to Vaca or move to is usually someone else's hell they want out of.
We love South Dakota especially the Black Hills! We never took the opportunity to move there but we try and go ad much as we can ! It all started when we ride to Sturgis!

There's a lot of information missing in this video. The biggest problem they didn't mention was the wages. Most ppl can't afford the housing and utilities because wages are extremely low. Don't be fooled into thinking it's cheap and easy here.
My home state was South Dakota. I was born and raised in the Black Hills region. I attended elementary school, Middle School, and most of high school in Rapid City South Dakota. Alot of what I learned in South Dakota has come in handy here in Medford Oregon. One example is to dress for the weather and to not let the harsh elements slow you down. Not that it gets anywhere near as extreme here in Medford Oregon as it does in Rapid City South Dakota, but still good skills 👍 ro have.
Glad you pointed this out. In most parts of the world, dressing for the weather is instinctual and just common sense. But in South Dakota, it is an acquired skill. Hmmmm. That pretty much says it all.

The other thing to think about, in terms of statistics, is that a lot of vanlifers and RVers domicile in South Dakota... Meaning on paper they 'live' in SD, but in reality, they're all over the country.
As a cyclists, I must say that the Black Hills has some very scenic highways for road cycling, and good single track for mountain biking.

South Dakota has many dif types of land, mountain forest in the far west (Blackhills), desert like (the Badland), Grasslands and flatland that is some of the best farmland anywere.
As of 2021, Bill Gates owns farmland in Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska (plus many states to the west and east) and the North Dakota government just facilitated his buying up farmland there. The North Dakota government argued that he said he'd lease it out to locals. Lol. Hopefully, South Dakota will keep him out. Gates absolutely is working overtime to get his hands on that South Dakota farmland.

My brother lived in California his whole adult life, he brought his friend who was born in California here one summer. He wanted to know how we knew how much food we'd need for the winter! When we got done laughing we explained we are not bears, we don't hibernate.

I went to South Dakota last year, and had such a pleasant time I went again a couple months ago. I absolutely love it there and want to move there when I’m older. Yeah there’s some parts where there’s nothing but grass for as far as the eye can see, but it’s a really interesting and serene state! Perfect place to get away from the madness. And for those wanting to visit, I was in Box Elder, just outside Rapid City, early September… it was 105 degrees! Also there’s this town quite literally in the middle of nowhere in near Murdo that is completely the original buildings from the 1880s. It’s a whole small town with train cars, a museum, gas station, and old school vibes. Dancing with Wolves was filmed there! I really hope South Dakota doesn’t get too touristy, but I know for myself I’ll definitely be going back when I have the chance again. I love the state.

I left Seattle and moved to smithwick SD and I got a home for $350,000 on five acres of land. In seattle area the same home would cost 2.5 millions to 3 million dollars. Property taxes in seatlle for that land would be $12,000. And in smithwick property tax is $ 4,400 a year.

Moved here from CA in 2021 (due to the Pandemic shuttering my family business of 17 years and forcing our kids out of school for over 1.5 years). I had never been here before in my life and moved to it for literally all the reasons in this video - additionally though, no income tax was a big factor as well. Yes the seasons can be extreme with 110* heat with 90% humidity during summer and winters with -30*/-40*/50* wind-chill but we do have 4 seasons and it makes you appreciate the pleasant days of both summer and winter time. Really wished I had moved here sooner in my life, being middle aged and from CA I had never owned a home, that only happened once I moved to SD!
Rarely will you get 90% humidity west River-I was born west River but went to college east river….. recently lived in Rapid City 2007-2020. Never humid- moving back from MT - I love SD

I will say this though, if you live here and/or from here, folks have no idea the tides that are turning in this state. It's disheartening and soon enough Sioux Falls (which is highly liberal with 20 something year olds) will be the voting block for this entire state. Folks never believe me when I say this but Sioux Falls is very similar to San Francisco and how folks are. If something doesn't change, there is going to be huge changes to SD and that will be very unfortunate to say the least.

I agree. I grew up in SD every once in a while before many people started moving here. I would come across gang members in bars down town. On more than one occasion. They stick out like a sore thumb running there mouth act all tuff. I'd ask them why did you come here. To quit gang life. Unfortunately they seem to bring it with them. Moved here in early 2021 despite being penniless because I thought, hey, even if RvW will never be overturned, at least I can live somewhere a majority of people want it to be.
As things turned out, within a year or so I was now living in a fundamentally sane place for the first time in my life.

I moved to hot springs 2 yrs ago and love it . Almost too quiet. But being from Colorado where its dry i hate the humidity for a few months in summer. Everyone says its nothing compared to their state but I was spoiled.
They also have a new Hospital and are on the edge of the general tourist area, not too far but not too close.

Yes, let's see digital nomads make yet another innocent state too expensive. The trend now seems to be remote workers moving in, driving up costs in an area, and then leaving because the new place is now too expensive. Remote workers have been cited to be the primary cause of the national housing crisis. NBC News wrote an article, called, "The remote workers have left, but the housing havoc they created remains." Look it up. There are many other news outlets that've written about the problem. "Geographic arbitrage," ruins communities and backfires in the end. Worse, high rents are driving our current inflation. Look that up, too. There is no such thing as free money. You win in the short run but in the long run, everybody loses, including yourself. Also, some of these areas will be left with a high cost of living for years even after you leave. If you move in and wonder why locals don't like you, look to see if your area has a housing crisis. Don't write off the scorn you receive with stupid stereotypes about the state you've relocated to. Stereotypes are for ignorant people. This is an important issue, which deserves due consideration because it's even making people with good jobs homeless. Vice Magazine did a lovely video on remote workers and gentrification. The video is about how local workers a digital nomad hot spot in Colorado are forced into homelessness and or leaving. The irony is that town, like so many similar to it, is running out of people to run the restaurants, schools, and other town businesses. What is happening right now with our national crisis is causing untold damage to countless lives. It's very vexing to see that the only thing seem to care about is their wallets, while forgetting that there are other people who deserve shelter.

South Dakota is just cheap real estate and endless highways between small towns. If "everyone" is moving to SD why is the population so small? A considerable percentage of South Dakota newbies are white flight/right flight. The state is beautiful; I'd put it up there with Greenland.

We drove cross county to Glacier to get married....I loved South Dakota as soon as we drove across the border. The whole state is beautiful.

I grew up in South Dakota... and the Healthcare isn't great in South Dakota. Healthcare is great in Sioux Falls, and Rapid City. There isn't even a doctor on the floor full time in some of these hospitals.
Can you tell I lost my grandma because she wasn't checked on for hours while waiting for a doctor?

I agree, the healthcare totally sucks here! At least in Rapid, there are no good primary doctors and specialists are very rare to find. And it is EXPENSIVE! I'm trying to move out of state so I can have my health issues properly addressed and treated.
By national standards, Sioux Falls healthcare is pretty good. Rapid City is a notch below. In the other larger towns the quality is uneven. And in the smaller towns there may be no doctor at all, for miles.
Health care is way worse in New Mexico.
I'm a truck driver and see all kinds of terrain. There is no way ever I'd move there.

Residency requirement is that you stay one night in a motel or campground and take your receipt from your stay to the driver's license bureau. You state you plan to settle in SD and pay a mail service to act as your "home address" and you don't have to stay in the state to be considered a resident from then on.

I will add that South Dakota is not entirely a “Midwestern” state like Minnesota, Wisconsin, or Michigan. The eastern half shares many similarities in terms of Midwest culture, farming, lots of small towns, etc. However, western South Dakota is much more similar to Wyoming & Montana, is in the Mountain time zone, and has a very different culture and economy than the “Midwest” has. That’s why I simply put SD in the “Northern Plains” region. It’s really not the Midwest or the Mountain West.

I’m currently living in South Dakota and you can always adventure and enjoy the summer warm. Most of crimes in South Dakota are in Sioux Falls. You can visit South Dakota’s Landmarks (Mount Rushmore) we have some great water parks like wild water west in Sioux Falls, splash central in Huron and much more. Huron features the worlds largest statue pheasant with some fine dining in the city as well. Mitchell features the Worlds only Corn palace! In the summer there are many campgrounds and hotels. @@texastea5686 I moved here from Southern California my entire life and I thought it was going to be like Alaska or something! No way! It was no where near as severe as I've heard! But we are in the very Southwest SD. Beautiful here!! Ran in to a guy a couple weeks ago who moved his entire family here from Texas! They love it here. He bought 70 acres!

The problem is that people move here and expect the residents of South Dakota to act like the place you came from. Respect us before you get decide to come here. We used to not race to the next stop light and never cut people off. Crime has gone up a lot since people think can bring their past states mentality to ours. Thank you California Ohio and Minnesota and fn Texas learn respect and how to drive
Recently stayed in Spearfish SD while on a cross country road trip. Was surprised at the fact that they had a decent sized hospital and just a mile a way an urgent care center. Seemed like alot for a city of about 12k. Nice little town from what i could see in my overnight stay.
It's a college town is why it's prospered so well. Beautiful during fall

when I grew up in Minnesota they used to say, "The Dakotas in the winter are not HELL but.... you can see hell from there."
The Black Hills are still expensive to buy a house and not many career opportunities for professionals unless you're a Dr. Wages in the Hills don't support the high land and home costs. Mostly blue collar and service jobs. I would move to Spearfish today if I could find a job that paid well enough.
Unfortunately it is only get more and more expensive to move to the Hills because of all the people who have moved in and been able to scoop up land and/or property, cash in hand. Even the cost of undeveloped land east river has become absurd compared to costs just a couple years ago. Outsiders see it as "affordable" while those who have lived here their whole lives, and same for their families before them, are being priced out of ever being able to buy their own property and even an acre of land.

I have a sick kid so hospitals are very very important. A more realistic location for us would be Cincinnati because it has the number one pediatric G.I. clinic in the US but SD would be awesome!
The Sanford Health System in Sioux Falls includes a Children's Hospital. The healthcare here is top notch.

Sanford hospital has a really excellent pediatric hospital in sioux falls. They even biult a large biulding that looks like a fairytale castle. Denny sanford established premier bank and he and his wife have donated billions to the hospital and sports facilities. They may not be no 1 but they are world class. My girlfriend has 6 different diseases and had 6 specialists . They were excellent .

As a SD REALTOR and TH-camr, I agree with all your points! Having helped numerous people move into the state in the past few years, I've heard each one of these reasons. And yes - my comments were filled with "don't bring your politics"...but all of my buyers wouldn't dream of changing a thing. 😎👍 well done!
Unfortunately the realtors are part of the problems they advertise out of state and tell people how great is then the next thing you know you have a shit hole just like some of these other states i am talking from experience i lived in califuckinfornia in the 60s it turned to shit moved to Colorado it turned to shit and i am getting to old to move again if this place turns to shit i will go moblie FJB
