I wouldn't have eaten that meal. I once was given food contaminated with cockroach shit and was never so sick in my life. I was too ill to go to a doctor (This was in Suva Fiji) so a doctor was brought to me. Interestingly enough Air Mauretanie (predecessor of Mauritania Airlines) was considering to buy two Concorde planes in 1987 to operate the prestigious route to Jeddah (main airport for Mecca pilgrims) from West Africa and from North America with a stopover in Nouakchott. However both Libya and Egypt prohibited supersonic flights above their deserts. So the deal was called off at a quite advanced stage and Air Mauritanie had to pay a substantial penalty.
Thanks for being over there. Hopefully this airline gets that much more of a push to improve, even though the prospect is dire... with full flights they sort of have zero incentive to do so. People on the other hand... improving how they behave goes even slower.

You and I both know full damned well that nothing about this airline will ever change. It's a reflection of the culture of its country, and THAT isn't going anywhere.
Facts
The passenger next to you (and the flight review in general) made my weekend. Thank you! 😂😂😂
I am surprised that the yellow fever joke flew under a radar. It was a good one, and my friends say the same about me 😅
Thank you for still doing your outro Josh because after everything you’ve experienced on that flight I would be in the shower ASAP😆😆❤️❤️
Dayum, what an experience. I hope they watch this video and improve
I would have lost my mind, Josh. OMG! And, what on earth was that nonsense with seat 20F? Your patience and kindness are unreal.
That woman dumping her crap in your lap 😮🤣😆
That flight ✈️ made my skin crawl without even being on it. Thanks again for sharing another great experience Josh.
Pleased you've got a good sense of humour Josh. I was laughing for the whole journey ........🤣🤣🤣
Ich wundere 😂mich immer wieviel Mut du hast in so ein Flugzeug zu steigen. Ich fliege in Europa noch nicht mal mit Ryanair. Aber immer wieder sehr spannend und interessant. Danke Josh 🎉🎉
Omg the one thing I cannot deal with is cockroaches. I physically gag thinking about them. I would have dumped my belongings in the airport and gone through everything so I didn’t take anything home🤢
I really admire your patience in these crazy situations Josh!!!!
I often hear people talk about how Africa is the future because of their birth rates and all, but..... seriously.... it takes more than just churning out babies to be part of the modern world and have a working economy.
WTF? You do realise that Africa is a whole continent with many airlines right? Seriously though how do you judge being part of the modern world based on an airline review?
@@palesad6510this was more than an airline review. How can Africa be the future when there’s corruption as bad as it is
@@NecessaryDramaAddictionNDA again he literally reviewed one country NOT the whole continent. How did the assumption that the whole continent is that bad come about? Then again if you have never lived in an African country how can you judge what you don't know?
And corruption is literally EVERYWHERE. Please don't be commenting with rose coloured glasses on.
@@palesad6510 You think this is the only data point? EVERYTHING I see coming out of Africa my whole life has formed and confirmed my opinion. And it isn't just my subjective opinion. Official stats all say the same thing too. There isn't a single Sub-Saharan country where the average IQ is above 85.
Thank you for this video Josh. Greetings from your followers here in Canada.
Why do you feel better at the back of the plane? I’m a nervous flyer and always feel better at the front. And honestly this was insanity, you are amazing for enduring this for our entertainment 😂
I think for filming
The back of the plane is the safest part. You are more likely to survive a crash landing.
Oh dear. I'm sorry you had to go through that Josh. That sounds like a horrible experience. Byt I love your positive attitude
I’m a flight attendant for Conoco Phillips here in anchorage alaska. I think Im going to show this review to the flying team at recurrent training. They won’t believe it… so they just have to see it! Crazy
Conakry has a dry season, stretching from November to May, and a rainy season (June - October) which is extremely rainy. but there can be the odd sunny day, even in the rainy season! I suppose you got lucky :)
This clearly shows that all the security measures which are enforced on other airlines are very much overrated
LOL!
Great Video Bud 👍👍That woman sat by you was absolutely unbelievable 😡😡Enjoying your adventure Josh 🥳👍🥳
The table lady - what a legend. Josh had space & she had food so the deal was done - actually, it makes sense! It is an adventure and it’s a privilege to fly & watch someone fly these ‘rarer’ airlines.
Which is not surprising - it was one of a tiny list of countries that still de facto practicing slavery. She may very well belong to slave-owning caste (it's a super poor country after all, exceedingly few Mauritanians can afford to do so), which tends to have such insane notion of superiority over other human beings, thus the treatment towards Josh.
One of your best. Thanks for taking one for the team.
Stranger than fiction really 😂😂. And the smoking issue is at another level
What arrogance by that individual! But you are so polite and gracious. Keep up the good work.
I have heard of crew still not prepped and buckled in during landing/short final, but passengers?? Thats a whole nother level
Smoking in the toilet and then in the toilet during the decent is absolutely mental😂😂😂😂
You said "what's the perfect word to describe it" and I replied "shitshow" just as you said it. You're a bad influence on me Josh😂😂
I had the same phrase pass through my head right before he said it… 😂
Thanks for the raw and real video Josh!! Thanks again!!
Josh try Jubba Airways, Dalloo Airlines , Freedom Airlines in Somalia, other channels went to Mogadishu too to try too. There is a airport hotel in the terminal.
I had actually a very nice experience with Mauritania Airlines International back in 2016 on a domestic flight from Nouakchott to Nouadhibou. Was very nice, friendly and speaking good English. So I loved it 😂😍
Hey fellow Mauritanians dont get offended, this guy was able to criticize airlines such as qatar airways or emirates, he just won the airline critic of the year.
What he just done to our airline is more of an advertisement 😅
I mean look at the bright side, Mauritania airlines is connecting guinea airport to Dakar 😃🥳
A lot of Mauritanians here actually know Josh was right with his comments... 🤣🤣🤣
Josh, i watch your videos since the first Videos you made from Kabul in like 2018 or 2017 (?) and i now just wanted to say a big Thank you! for going to such rural places, making Videos about the exotic Airlines flying there and showing us whats the reality there. I really appreciate your work, keep it up!
15:20 sorry the loo was occupied during landing!
Can we appreciate the fact that Josh always risks his life for us so that we don't have to risk our lives or travel uncomfortably ? 😂
2nd funniest review after Air Algérie 😂
You have to wonder what goes on in the cockpit of these crazy airlines when what you do see breaks all sorts of regs! I'd be inclined to avoid them to stay alive.
I must tell you after watching that lady putting the food tray in your place, as if the whole three rows belongs to her and you are sitting there at her mercy, if I had the authority I would any day give you a Nobel prize for peace. Your tolerance is well above par. Love your videos.
Im working as NDT inspector in one of European leading aircraft maintanance companys. From my expirience african airplanes are the worst, I have worked on 5 of them and from my perspective I will not allow them to fly anywhere, all of them where total disaster, from cockpit to fuselage shit, dirt, bad smell and failiours everywhere!
That's why they're mostly restricted to the African continent. If they want to fly as broken, careless, dangerous, filthy, smelly disasters, then they're free to do so amongst their own. Just don't force that on the civilized world.
It's all because of you stealing their resources and interacting in their politics
Which five airlines mr inspector?
@@MedSidi-gz4bt Don't even try with souch comments my county wasn't been part of any kind of colonial or busines actions in Africa so souch facts are not at the right place. Maby you should ask English fuckers what they done all around the globe.
@@afrocentric1674 I can't say for which particular airlines we made chacks because of firm policy, but 3 of them where from Nigeria, one from Libya and one from Ghana.
At least you survived the flight, potential food poisoning, rude fellow oassenger, cockcroaches second hand smoke and you took it with a stride brave. Guerrilla flyer!!!
The hotel I stayed at in Dakar had rats running around and inside the walls too. At night you could hear them scurrying around. You can imagine what the kitchen is like.
Africa life
I need to check that l.. what hotel ?
Would rather sleep on the street 😮
Your whole trip gave me anxiety 🤣 I don’t know how you did it Josh! Thank you so much for your review 😊
oh nonono Josh! This wasnt your last time with this Airline.
We will ask for this airline for sure. :)
Lol
😂😂
I remember the old days of Air Mauritanie when they would have people standing in the aisle and goats in the overhead lockers for domestic flights!
🤣🙈
Never thought seeing an old Iranian car(IranKhodro Samand) used as taxi in senegal!
Why not?
@@alexandermutune6131 even in my country(Iran) which built this car many people don't use them anymore cause
This version of samand is the oldest one
I always thought senegal is considered advanced in africa
Love how this guy is sooooooooooo calm and happy in all the shit happening
Josh Cahill proves he's the best Airline Critic each video. Take that PR King Sam Chui! 🤣
Well at least Sam’s aren’t scripted and he doesn’t waste half his video yapping about the bad things of an airline
I sometimes forget that there are places like this in the world.
You can smoke on this commercial airline ? 😂
As I see it, you can do whatever you want on this airline.
The crew's attitude is basically "cba"
Videos like this make us realise that the jet set life you travel youtubers live isn't one long holiday, it is unquestionably work, and sometimes flaming hard work !

New Zealand and Tasmania: 'are we a joke to you?'
