It pisses me off to no end when people now say “CoD doesn’t need a campaign.” These campaigns were amazing masterpieces

They probably never even tried to play one and just go straight to multiplayer, remaining ignorant to great stories. Such a shame

They know nothing of what's good.
Even games like ghosts and infinite warfare the multiplayer-only plebs hated so much have great campaigns that they'd have enjoyed if they actually played them. I've seen people go to play the campaigns of these games and be like "oh crap. These are actually good"

    • @_MaZTeR_

It's obvious those people have never touched a CoD campaign in their life or if they have, their experience is one of those garbage new ones.
It's also a shame that talent has left the house long ago and what's left is safe, generic garbage that it's almost best there's no campaign.

Dimitri’s death was always so brutal to me, especially after spending so many hours playing as him in World At War. It was just so visceral and real, and the fact he didn’t go out in a big action scene as a hero but instead was betrayed and shoved in a gas chamber just felt so wrong (which totally work for both this game and WAW). I haven’t played Black Ops 1 in years, Hell at this point it’s probably been almost decade, but I’ll never forget it’s story.

    • @jasonflake7696

Yea WaW was my fist call of duty game and black ops was such a blast, you can even say Dimitris death kicks starts Modern Warfare with the Spec ops troops showing up and being killed by a world ending weapon.

    • @JillLulamoon
      @JillLulamoon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I agree. His last moments were spent trying to desperately break through the glass to reach his friend on the other side.
What Reznov says about his death is awful. And it's even more awful that I agree. Dmitri was a hero who deserved better.
      He should've died in Berlin.

The saddest thing about Reznov as a character is not himself, but the losses and betrayals he suffered in the hands of his "commanders".
Dimitri's death is part of his resolve too: "As long as you live, the heart of this army cannot be broken". He died in the most awful way and Reznov's heart was destroyed instead.

It's telling to me, that his entire plan was basically never to escape, it was to get his revenge.
He took their still only partially brainwashed pawn, added some instructions of his own and then did everything he could to ensure that Mason would escape before they could put the finishing touches on him, before they could find what he'd done and remove it.
I suspect he knew all along that a large scale escape was never going to be possible and given how the other prisoners were picked off as they tried, he wouldn't actually have been wrong about that.
The whole plan shows the sheer determination Reznov had, he would sacrifice his own life and in a way it didn't matter; even years after he died, he was still a threat, still taking his revenge. When Steiner met his end, all those years later, it may have been Mason facing him, but in his final moments, he knew it was Reznov looking out at him from behind Mason's eyes.

Hardship and suffering is really what Russia has always been about. The Tsar, the Communists and even today. Some things never change. Whether you’re good or bad, you’re effected one way or another. You could turn that suffering into strength or you could the cold hand of the lifestyle freeze you up till the flesh peals from your bones. For those on top, they usually benefit from those who go through this. Even Putin’s “popularity” with his people come into question. I think most know what happen if anyone save those outside the country would dare question them, not just their lives... But their families. If anything, Russia has always been brutal and the people know it all too well. Whether you embrace it, do your best to survive it or be destroyed. Truly among the harshest places on Earth and it’s people know it. On hand it’s a place where you take pride in being a survivor or fear what it will do it if you’re. That is what the Russian people have come to accept. Will there be a better life in that country someday...... Or it is nature for them to live through the brutality of their environment, both the natural climate and the social one. I don’t know if they know it either. Still, it is what they do.

Kravenko was killed by Woods (player-determined) in Black Ops 2.
Reznov’s revenge began in 1945 until 1986. Even with his death in 1963, Reznov has won.

I finished Black Ops ten years ago. And Reznov is an unforgettable Video Game Character.

When I was growing up, BO1 was my favorite game. Replaying the CoD games, WaW became my favorite, and I appreciated that mission and Reznov's character so much more. Treyarch's first two games are such classics.

Man, revisiting old Cods really just hits different once you're long past teenage years and shit.

Its weird Ive never touched a single WaW game in my life but Reznov was one my favorite characters if not my favorite character. There's just so much passion in the Vorkuta escape that makes it truly my favorite mission. (number 2 favorite is the mission where you get a Spazz 12 and just incenerate and dismember everyone) and here he's just so haunting. I was hanging on every word during this mission

Hard to believe such an A-list actor voices a beloved Call-Of-Duty Character

13 year old me never listened to Reznov back then. No wonder he hated the Nazis so much.

Black Ops had peak storytelling for the entire COD franchise. The characters and the direction the story takes stays with you. Doesn’t feel like cookie-cutter warfare that we get from COD today

Ever since I was a little kid. That quote that resnov says that (the flag may be different, but the methods are the same) Really stuck with me.Because that's how I view politics in America.
