- I am Erymanthon Seth, I am an Italian musician and I play guitars, bass, some mandolin and keyboards and do some singing, both death vocals and clean singing.
I am the man behind Apocalypse, an Epic/Black Metal solo project heavily influenced by Bathory, which basically is my way to pay tribute and continue what Quorthon had started.

3 June, 2004. The world of Metal music has to face one of the most terrible tragedies of its history: the passing of Quorthon, the mastermind behind the Death/Black and Epic Metal band Bathory, dead only at age 38 because of an heart attack.
His genius and creativity will never be replaced by anybody... that's simply impossible. That's the reason why his passing was so sad and tragic. But that's also the reason why, even if he is no longer with us, he still lives within his everlasting music and legacy, made of the thousands of bands and artists that he inspired, including myself.
14 years after his passing, this cover is my tribute to him. A Fine Day To Die is one of my absolute favourite Bathory songs of all time... Powerful, Epic and Melancholic... that's Bathory at its best! And, by the way, this year the masterpiece album Blood Fire Death is 30 years old, so that's a way to celebrate that too.

As usual, I learned the song by ear, so it might not be 100% accurate. There are some mistakes here and there but hey, I'm a human, not a robot :). Hopefully you'll enjoy it anyway.
I also tried to get as close as possible to Quorthon's guitar tone with my gear, so if you like it and are interested in the signal chain, here it is:

But man i get you!, I'm only 19 and i've been obsessing over him since i was 15. i feel like he delivered the most vicious sound and vocals i've ever heard since or before. and i think he stills stands today as one of the most underrated guitarists and innovaters, and probably the most illusive f*cking person i've ever tried to research! xD, but i guess that only adds to the legend of him ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@darksl1de Yeah, he truly was a genius and a legend... and to for me he still is among us! He lives within his music and within us... I have Quorthon within me just like you do, and anybody in the Hordes really. I regret not being able to meet him (I was 3 years old when he passed away) but I can somehow connect with him through his everlasting music!

For me, no one will ever be more special than Quorthon, because he did something damn unique. I don't know where he came from if he was so unrealistically perfect at what he did. The authenticity of what he did is something worthy of praise.
If you want to write about Bathory and music, I wrote on fb. If not, it's no problem. I hope you record more of that.
It would be great if you played Call from the Grave because the solo on this song is a pure orgasm. Enter the Eternal Fire is another perfect track to the wishlist haha and from bands other than Bathory it immediately comes to mind Whatever That Hurts (Tiamat)

I haven't recorded any videos in the past 2 years because I have been very busy with my solo project called Apocalypse. It is very Bathory oriented, my goal with that project is to make Quorthon live again. I also released a tribute album, and I have some covers which I never released (including Call from the Grave), which I may release in the future. The acoustic bit at the beginning is tuned to E flat standard, the rest of the song is tuned to E standard.
I played an Academy Ovation acoustic guitar, a Washburn CS-780 electric guitar and a Rocktron Piranha amplifier in this video. I believe I also had a Boss FB2 booster pedal.

i was searching for solo lesson and finally see normal cover but still theres one question : how actually u played it, like using only one finger or periodically using both? i mean that solo at the beginning (yes it sounds kinda weird to ask it here)
Go and check on my channel, there is a lesson I uploaded recently on how I play all the guitar solos. I played it wrong here, so in the lesson I teach a better way to play it.

I didn't silence the original acoustic guitars... It's all there. Maybe my own acoustic is a bit louder so you hear it better over the other tracks.

Grazie! Guarda, ho provato diverse diteggiature, con 2 e 3 dita, questa è quella che, a orecchio, si avvicinava di più all'originale... (il mix originale è un po' confuso comunque, non si sente esattamente cosa suonava Quorthon...)
Per essere fedele all'originale è fedele, non c'è alcun dubbio, su quello hai fatto un ottimo lavoro (nonchè su tutto il resto, chiariamo).
Più che altro dicevo che suona meglio (ci sono cover personalizzate) suonato con tre dita.
Avevo visto questa cover, dove il chitarrista lo fa con tre dita, e seppur non perfettamente fedele all'originale, viene fantastico, secondo me anche meglio di quello che suona Quorthon:

@@franziskhan5203 Ah sì sì, l'avevo ascoltata. Lui le dà un tocco un po' più neoclassico suonandola con tre dita e spostando la root note giù di un tono. Suona molto bene ed è una bella interpretazione. L'avevo provata anch'io.
Io però quando registro le cover preferisco attenermi il più possibile all'originale... scelta personale.
