I don't really consider Peridot's line about losing character development a fourth-wall break, because Peridot learned a lot about life on earth from watching TV (specifically Camp Pining Hearts) so it makes sense that she'd use that kind of terminology in her day to day.
I love that Steg (Steven and Greg’s fusion) is this rockstar character because it’s a personification of how Steven and Greg see each other as the coolest person ever, a total rockstar, it’s really sweet
Steg was originally considered to show up in the original show as there’s concept art, sketches, and a full body image being a Young Steven + Greg hybrid.

lowkey i kinda hate steg. like it's fine, but there's no reason for a fusion between a 16 year old boy and his dad to be that flamboyant. he kinda made me uncomfortable the entire time he was on screen tbh edit: this is my opinion, no one agreed when the movie first came out; i don't expect anyone to agree with me now. steg still remains one of my least favorite characters, and by far my least favorite fusion
The reason why we never saw any other Spinels is that it’s implied that she was custom made for Pink as a way to keep her busy and entertained There would be no need for gems with that purpose outside of Pink’s case
pink diamond is probably one of the most complex and nuanced characters I've ever seen in animation, her personality has just as many facets as her gem has. she definitely WASN'T a good person, she was someone who was raised under white diamond's rule, so she was trained for a long time to see other gems as tools (or in spinel's case, toys). pink is definitely someone who TRIED to do good, and tried to make up for a lot of what she did; but she's also someone who DID shove all of that to steven, did run away from the things she's responsible for, and ultimately forgot about a toy she left somewhere back when she thought of gems as toys. she's someone who tried to do good, but she's also a tragedy about how she didn't do enough.
She sadly wouldn't have been able to do anything to help Spinel by the time she was emotionally mature enough to realize how badly she messed up. Every time she tried to free Earth or fix her mistakes as Pink Diamond, the other Diamonds disregarded her and doubled down on their Diamond-y ways, waiting for her to fall back in line. Then the war started and Pink had her hands full with her double life and trying to free as many gems as she could. And when the war ended and Pink was "shattered", the Crystal Gems had to break the warp pads and basically cut off any way for her to return to get Spinel or rescue Pink Pearl. And she didn't so much purposely dump her mistakes on Steven (even though that was an unintended consequence of her actions) as try to create something new and special with the ability to change, something that she wasn't exactly an expert on. After 6000 years, they were still basically the same Gems they were when the war started. Steven managed to do in 16 years what Rose hadn't managed to do in six thousand. Rose, for all of her mistakes and bad decisions, tried to do the right thing. Ultimately, she ended up leaving behind someone who was much stronger and better than she'd ever managed to be despite her years and powers.
I wouldn't say Pink was running away from everything she did. She didn't have Steven as a ploy to avoid responsibility for her actions, she had Steven because she loved humanity and change. I will say, I wish she could've been better, could've gone to retrieve Spinel after the Diamonds corrupted everyone on Earth.
@@JorgensZeldamy theory is that is part of the reason why she decided to become steven. when she finally realized how badly she hurt spinel, probably sometime after meeting greg, there was no way for her to go and get her to fix things at that point. the end credit song, which is almost certainly sung by rose, tells us that her guilt about everything really seems to have been eating away at her as everyone continued to praise and idolize the fake image they had of her. she never felt like she was who everyone thought she was and it left her feeling like she didnt even want to be herself anymore. the only way she could ever love herself is if she was someone else entirely
I feel like pink diamond or rose whatever, knew from the start after she saw the life on planet earth. She knew if the diamond wouldn’t listen to her they would listen to someone that wasn’t basically rose and so if she brought spinel with her as rose. Spinel would’ve gotten in the way and the diamonds would’ve realized that rose quarts is pink diamond because there’s no body as that has a spinel and second thing is that if she told spinel to stay and say word to the diamond she’d would’ve followed pink like how they were showing in the drift scene in the movie and two she would’ve told the diamonds that pink left so she had to abandon spinel on purpose even though she knew it would eat her alive and made her regret leaving spinel. But time as rose quarts explored planet earth and fell in love with humanity and made a lot of mistakes and lied to everyone. Knowing how much she was trying to save the her planets and the messed up gems. She saws in herself how much of a terrible person she was and how much she wanted to change. So she knew she needed to become another person to makeup for all her faults and get the diamonds to finally listen is by turning herself into Steven so Steven could fix everything that she broke and could fix and to become a better person at the end and the person she always wanted to be. So song that song at the end is probably her expressing all her emotions and regrets. The only reason she couldn’t do that is because diamonds would never listen to her and when they did they put so much pressure and stress on her.and then they would get mad at her when she would change her mind. They really never let pink diamonds do anything and would just ignore her and when she did something wrong they would lock up in a small inclosed space and thought that would make everything better but instead it things worst. Cause pink to be destructive and throwing tantrums because she wasn’t allowed to show any emotion or expression how she feels so all though emotions are buried down and push onto Steven. So if we are going to blame someone we blame the diamonds and white diamond the most she always wanted everybody and everything to be perfect
I don’t think she had Steven to shove all her responsibilities on him, there’s no chance she knew that homeworld would be back to destroy the earth, as prior to Steven they’ve had a pretty chill life after the corruption song, which is why they didn’t think they’d be back, keep in mind also how the whole story started due to Steven accidentally getting out of the warp thing mid-trip
Fun fact: The voice actors for Steg and Opal are in a band together. They used to make good music together, and I was excited to hear their duet in the movie. Great choice for Stegs voice actor.
In my interpretation, Spinel represented her childhood. Pink was very immature at this time. When Steven and Connie saw Pink's past when they were stranded in the jungle, you saw how Pink acted. She threw a temper tantrum when she was pleading for her own planet and not getting her way. When she got her own planet, Pink wanted to be seen as a grownup. So she felt she had to leave behind childish things to be seen as a grownup or equal in the rest of the Diamonds. When we as humans try to leave behind our childish nature we certainly make mistakes along the way to mature into who we become later in life. It does not excuse what she did. Not by a long shot. But I can see her reasoning behind it. Also Rebecca sugar connected this song with everything stays from Adventure time. check it if you haven't seen it already
In addition to seeing Spinel as a part of her childhood, I think in a way she also saw Spinel as herself. Pink's role in Era One seemed to be a kind of jester for the other diamonds, to sing little songs and throw little dances to entertain them and bring them joy in between their imperialistic efforts. Which was also, basically, Spinel's role for Pink. I think that when Pink decided she wanted to be equal to the other diamonds, she began to resent Spinel for being so similar to what she no longer wanted to be. So she did to Spinel what the diamonds always did to her, and what the Crystal Gems always used to do to Steven-she decided she had important grown-up things to do and left the silly little jester behind. It was an awful thing to do, and what's more awful is that she probably thought it was a completely acceptable way to treat another person, because it was how she'd been treated her entire life up to that point.
@@3ghostsinatrenchcoat Yes. That's the thing. After she went to earth and began to see other paths, she changed how she saw others. Think about when Greg asked her to talk to him and she looked so confused and hurt, asking "Is this not how it works?" Because that's all she knew.
I’ve read a very good take on Pink’s character once: it feels like we are being told that she is a bad person because they’re showing us her development backwards. At the beginning of the series we know her as Rose, the most mature version of her, and then slowly we find out more about her past, in which she is way worse than what we’ve known, but it’s the past nonetheless. It’s easy to forget that impulsive inconsiderate Pink is someone she used to be, but caring Rose who tries to be better is someone she eventually evolved into
i almost agree with this take but at the same time. at any point she could've went back for spinel or at least bubble her or something. but to just leave her & never go back is nuts.
@@Redbeedrill She couldn't. At no point during the war would she be free to go get Spinel. And after the war they destroyed every off world warp pad to make sure the Diamond's couldn't easily return to the planet.
gem character reset things i love: -pearl is made for whoever first claims her, essentially -our ruby was made for our sapphire -amythest was made to fit in with the other warriors and copy them (or she was "wrong" and is missing the programmed behavior she's supposed to have) -spinel is made FOR pink diamond .......and steven is pink diamond/has her gem. so spinel knows she's made for him i love this movie so much
its important to remember that Pink's story is in reverse - we see everyone she hurt AFTER we learn about her time as Rose. SU is all about redemption - Pink was redeemed.
A lot of people don’t like the message of the end of the movie and the reprise of “Let us Adore You” and I can understand why but I honestly think it works and it’s very wholesome Spinel was a kid who was grieving over the loss of her family, and the Diamonds were a family who was grieving over the loss of their kid, and both happened to be the same person (Pink Diamond) They were suffocating Steven a bit because they missed having a child in their lives so much, and now they have a child who’s suffered so much and wants all the attention, care and love that they can give As the song says, together, they can learn to love again I can see how the execution can be flawed considering that the Diamonds are not good people, but in concept at least, ignoring the fact that the Diamonds have done a LOT of messed up stuff, I think it ties the two stories perfectly and gives closure and conclusion to both sides
They were not good people (especially White), but they managed to learn and slowly work to redeem themselves. I would love to see more of how Homeworld and the Diamonds have changed since the end of the war, all the work they've done to repair the damage they caused. And if they have a creator, I would have loved to find out what would have made them and what their true purpose was.
Rose was a horrible person who was constantly trying to become better. It's why she was so enamored with the concept of change. It's why she fell in love with Greg-because he demanded she treat him better and then showed her how to. It's why she eventually had Steven-she wanted to be human, to be given the opportunity and the means to grow and change like it was second nature. I think that even if the things you've done in the past are unforgivable and even if you'll never make up for them, trying to be a better person is always a more noble goal than just giving up. And if nothing else, Rose was definitely trying.
I always hated how much of a 180 people had with rose. when more came out people started to hate her. I love how more and more we see she isnt perfect, but i feel like people (characters, fans, and the crew from some of their comments) went from putting her on a pedestal to full on hating her. every character had ups and downs but I think rose is the best example in the show of characters doing both good and evil. She did things like leave spinel hanging, her many lies and selfish actions, but she also validated the existance of so many gems that would otherwise be shattered on homeworld and gave up her life to create steven. I like your take. rose isnt garenteed forgiveness, but i think you can say there was an effort to change,
Also people keep forgetting she had Spinel BEFORE she had a colony on earth. Which means she couldn't have seen what harm she was doing. And maybe she got caught up on earth and war and that made her forget Spinel
@@melsukiii Even though she had no way of knowing the war would break out, she still had many opportunities before the shattering to go back for her. I think rose is fully in the wrong for that no matter how you spin it, all that can change is how bad you think she is for doing it.
@@Gatekid3 BROOOOOOOO YES. Some motherfuckers went from 'awww, rose, my scrunkly dunkly!' to 'you bitch. you savage bitch. i hate you.' as if that's not the exact fucking opposite moral of Roses' story.
steven universe is when you're 12, hanging out with friends at school lunch and making jokes. Future is when you're 17 and realizing you're depressed and most likely not very mentally stable anymore- at least that's how i see them
@@zzeroara9511 Future could've been better but I can't say I don't relate to Steven in it alot and I don't exactly know how to feel about that so I'm just gonna ignore that lil tid bit
i loved future?? i didnt know there were so many people saying it wasnt good, i thought it was amazing. a wonderful little like loose end tie up, epilogue, see how steven is adjusting to having grown older and also being a person after like. the Big Main Goal has been reached. i thought it was great
The reason people don't like it is because it was rushed, Future was great but there definitely are some aspects of the story that were rushed and therefore impacted how good it COULD have bren
I remember when it first came out and people were bothered that it wasn't quite as fun and silly as the original. It was one of the most childish reasons I'd ever heard, because they were ignoring that Future's core story was Steven's trauma.
In my opinion pink diamond was a child given the responsibility and power of a king she was literally responsible for thousands of sentient beings with one word from her she could make a command that they could literally not disobey when she told pearl to never speak of her being pink diamond even though she was gone and pearl very much wanted to talk about it she literally physically couldn’t the fact that pink didn’t do some worse stuff honestly and she easily could have by complete accident
Future was my favorite part of the entire franchise. It's more serious in tone, though. It's got some intense themes surrounding mental and emotional health. That's always been a part of the show, but Future looks at them much more directly. Just remember that as much as Steven has always been a happy, optimistic kid, he's still faced a lot of trauma growing up, as well as a lot responsibility that a kid shouldn't be burdened with. Future is primarily about how this affects him as he transitions into adulthood. I think people were upset because they were expecting it to see him continue his adventures with the Gems, but that wouldn't make any sense since he's already established peace across the universe. Instead, it's about Steven learning to make peace with himself.
I think main problem is... How it actually fucks up the mental health part So when that part is vad and it's the main focus... y'know it gets kinda bad
on your question, i feel like pink isnt being portrayed as a bad person but more as a complicated person like everyone else in the series. Through out most of the show shes put on pedestal by everyone around her: steven, pearl, the diamonds as well... i feel like the show bringing in flaws to her character grounds her and shows us that shes just like everyone else...imperfect
Future is actually pretty good. Some people don't like it because it addresses more mature topics like mental health awareness. But the show really expresses it in a way that any age can understand. I think its a good concept. I think you would too
It also was a good way to wrap up the topic on Steven's trauma. People don't like it when their favorite animated show gets more irl motivated and makes them not like the show.
mate what? It’s literally done in the worst way possible. Steven’s whole trauma and PTSD is solved with a hug, the shattering of a gem is not permanent anymore, animation is horrible and steven himself loses most of his previous qualities resulting in almost killing his own dad. Not to mention that he doesnt forgive his mom which ruins everything the whole shows was trying to do, but somehow he treats the other diamonds even if they do worse things. The show basically loses all of its previous stakes just to try and build things that fail in the end. Steven’s mental health was poorly executed in all honesty and it’s quite disrespectful to those who suffer like him. Instead of Future we could have had a Pink Diamond’s spin off series or ANYTHING to expand the show, but no, we had to just continue it and ruin it
Regarding Pink Diamond ruining people's lives, if you go back and listen to the ending song of the original series again (which i'd love you to do and react to), it's being sung from Pink/Rose's perspective and is all about her mistakes and how Steven is a better person and that she's not as upstanding as other people make her out to be. When we were first introduced to rose at the start of the show, it was from the perspective of her as this idealized person after she had thousands of years of regrets and mistakes, and over the course of the series and now the movie we see more and more of the bad things she did BEFORE she became a good person.
this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this is exactly my take. a lot of people tend to forgot that Spinel was abandoned *right as Pink was given earth*. So that means that was before she even started to change at all.
the reason there probably isn’t more spinels is because spinel was made specifically for pink by the other diamonds to give her a playmate. spinel might be the only of her kind that exists
I love Spinel ❤️, her character design, her villain song is absolutely amazing (Especially if you watch that scene a second time), she has a really depressing backstory poor girl 💔, her voice actor did a phenomenal job portraying all of her emotions (really showing that she went through something, what pink did really hurt her) also singing as well, her theme is like mostly creepy reverse sounds with little glitches which fit her character and story really well, and her animation was so cool and fluid (Absolutely amazing). I also love how her eyes showed how insane she became afterwards ❤️.
Spinel isn't "weird". She just has trauma from abandonment, and needs to feel included and cared for. She's afraid of being left behind or forgotten about again... I really understand all of that... It makes me cry a lot.
@@FrozenChicken100 How is it "cool"? There's nothing cool about it. Saying it that way, makes you sound sarcastic, like somebody who doesn't care. But if that was the case, why say anything? What does your sarcastic response contribute? Is it going to make me feel better? No. If anything, it's going to make me feel worse. So just don't say anything, unless you enjoy hurting people who are already vulnerable. Is being a bad person fun? Think before you talk.
SU Future is great; it's just different. Rebecca Sugar more or less told the story she wanted to tell with SU, so SUF sort of has a new story, focused entirely on Steven. It does answer a few lingering questions from SU (though not all of them), but there's no more Gem-related mythology or mysteries. And it includes all the other characters, but mostly just to show their endpoints -- they don't really have any character arcs in SUF. (RS described it as an "epilogue" of sorts.) As I said, it's all focused on Steven. But Steven's story is a good one, an important one.
Well, the entirety of SU:F IIRC is one giant character arc. But I get what you mean. Mostly everyone is the best version of themselves. (I can't wait until he gets to eps 16 BTW.)
i love pink diamond!! shes not any worse than the other diamonds (in fact her redemption was much more in depth) we just see a lot more of her past actions & view her character development in reverse
I think the coolest thing that most didn’t notice the first time of watching was that when Steven was sending the message in the begging you can see the one that was transmitted to the garden and can see Spinels foot. Then you see it again during the drift away song.
The "true" key for Garnet was when Garnet broke up when she knew Rose was Pink Diamond, then overcoming this problem and getting back to being herself through true love "True Kinda Love"
Sapphires future vision is better when she’s reset because before ruby fused with her she saw one flat path, but after rubies spontaneous intervention she realised there were thousands of possibilities.
Man, idk who told you that about future, but it's really good! It doesn't have the impact of the OG series, but it's all about Steven growing up a bit instead of being a perpetual kid. There's loads of great moments, but it really feels like a great send-off to the series, I really enjoyed it :)
Dude! First, I gotta say, "I love that sweater." 😲 Also, I love that you caught the voice of the Diamonds singing the intro song. Yes, them running through the feild is a callback to the intro. When all the gems are forming back to how they are, all their previous forms show. That's why u saw Pearl's pilot silhouette. Nice catches! Personally, I love the Future episodes. I actually give it a 9/10 cause I wish we could see/ find out more. I think you will enjoy it. A lot of what you noticed in the show leads up to the next bunch of episodes. I'll be watching it with you, too. 😊
I love all three SU, SU: The Movie, and SU: Future. They're all great in telling the story and how it ends all together, Steven Universe: Future is a great ending, it tells us how Steven is doing after everything he went through from the start of season 1. Your reactions are pretty great too, can't wait to see the reactions soon 💖💖
Future IS good. It's just not what a lot of people wanted. They went for a certain thing with it, and they succeeded in what they were going for. It's just a lot of people were upset, because they were hoping for a completely different kind of show.
I don't know who's been lying to you, future might not be as bomb as the first series, but it's still good, it just focuses on wrapping up some of the loose ends, especially when it comes to Steven's story specifically, your probably gonna like it
I think many people have reacted differently to Future because it is so different from the original. If you expect more magical-girl/boy adventures, that's not what you'll get. It's more of a "you can't go home again" or veteran/survivor story.
@@alharairah2214 I've noticed that as well. actually, i specifically remember EVERYONE expecting something more like the first 5 seasons when it was announced, so that's probably 100% the case.
personally, future sucks to me specifically because of the concentrated hate for Rose that season perpetuates. And then... Steven just leaves at the end? where's he even gonna go? it felt like a hasty, unwanted ending to a show that was perfectly fine before that. What Steven needed was a good therapist, maybe a break from gem-related matters, but he didn't need to just up and leave Beach City. There's a lot I can say about future, but there's so little good and so much bad in that season that it's not redeemable for me. Sadie and Lars' relationship is ruined (by the most token nonbinary character I've ever seen no less), we get that shitty fusion of eyeball and aquamarine that literally NOBODY asked for (also isn't fusion between different gems supposed to be bad?), we get steven turning into a caterpillar monster because he's... *checks notes* emotionally unstable? right. makes sense, ig. i liked seeing jasper try to find her place after the series was over, and i liked having more time with some of the characters, but steven's whole arc in future just felt weird, especially the resolution.
Even to this day, I fully believe this is one of the best cartoon movies ever written and made. It's so amazingly heartwarming, genuine and it tells an awesome story about abandonment and found family. If anyone asked me what I think the perfect example of a great cartoon movie would be, I'd recommend this to them. I really do love this movie dearly : ']
The Truth for Garnet relates to two occasions: when Pearl lied to make Sardonix, and when she found out that Rose is Pink Diamond. Her relationship as Garnet was solid except for those two instances where her friends the truth behind her friends' lies surfaced. And Ruby and Sapphire overcoming those ugly truths is what make Garnet truly whole.
Ah, Spinel... one of my favorite characters in all of Steven Universe! She definitely deserved to have a loving family after everything Pink put her through. 💞💞
I don't know if you caught on in the original series, but Pink (White) Pearl was PDs original pearl, and was taken by WD because she spent too much time playing around w PD instead of being a quiet servant. It's likely that Our Pearl and Spinel were the compromise, giving PD a playmate in a controlled location and a sensible, subservient Pearl. This opens up a Whole other can of worms, and explains why PD seemed to not care much for Pearl's obsessive servant attitude in the beginning, and why she seems Tired of Spinel. They aren't the pearl she counted on, they're the two aspects of her pearl that the other Diamonds saw as conflicting personality traits. Basically, her family shunned her bestie, and replaced her with what they considered to be "more fitting" friends. Furthermore, as somebody who has been both PD and Spinel, I can tell you Exactly how this relationship went. From PDs perspective, she was growing up. She was given the earth, and knew that she had to take on a more responsible role to not let down the people that gave this opportunity. But she Knew that Spinel might mess it up somehow, because her purpose is directly opposed to that mentality. So, instead of doing the mature thing and telling her this, PD abandoned Spinel. Spinel, not Knowing why she was abandoned for so long, waiting for a sign, found out the truth of the time she spent waiting and harbored a deep resentment.
Future is good, a lot of people just don't like it for different reasons. A lot of people can't relate to some of the character struggles since they're very specific and for people who don't get it it just looks like the characters are acting unrealistically. Pink is not a bad person, we're just seeing her development backwards. We see how she was a brat to the other diamonds and how she left Spinel at the garden but we also see her changing into a better person afterwards. Rose is ultimately a good but selfish person who caused a lot of damage through her "never looking back" personality
A sad thing I noticed is the fact that Spinel wasn't able to stop standing still waiting for Pink even if she wanted to because of the power of Pink as a Diamond that a gem cannot disobey.
Going back and rewatching every time Pearl covered her mouth in the series, realizing that she wasn't allowed to answer Steven's questions because of Pink Diamond's orders.
I remember watching this for the first time and just bawling no matter the seriousness of the abandonment everyone knows how it feels to be left or not wanted
I actually really really enjoyed Future! I think Future was limited just because I think it had more story to tell than it could feasibly fit in ten episodes. Future also flat out had me sobbing at parts so look forward to that.
In the matter of wether or not Pink is a bad person for leaving Spinel, you’d first have to consider her perspective: For starters, Spinel was a good playmate but not a good friend, every time she tried to cheer up Steven, it amounted to her saying “HEY! Stop being sad.”, for someone like Pink who was mistreated by the diamonds on a regular basis (as implied in Battle Of Heart And Mind) the lack of emotional support would have been jarring at best. Second, pre-Earth Pink only wanted one thing, to prove her worth as a diamond and gain the respect of her sisters. Her leaving Spinel behind to go on a trip she was planing to return from, is comparable to a person storing away a toy as they grow up and start embracing responsibilities.
Pink Diamond left Spinel behind because Pink had constantly bugged the other Diamonds about wanting a colony. But the other Diamonds kept treating her like a child. And Spinel was her 'toy' or 'playmate'. I think Pink felt at that time that Spinel was too childish for what the other Diamonds wanted her to be, and she wanted to prove she was 'mature enough' to run a colony. Of course, leaving Spinel behind the way she did was just another example of how much she wasn't actually ready to run a colony. EDIT: Also don't listen to those fools who say Future is bad. It's just different. It's still good.
If you enjoy Zach Callison's performance (Steven's VA) I'd super recommend you listen to his ep 'A Picture Perfect Hollywood Heartbreak' if you havent already, its really something else
No, it's because Spinel is a freeform shapeshifter, even more so than Amethyst. Someone who can alter their form so easily and abruptly is a difficult opponent indeed. Ironic since Spinel was designed to be a toy more than anything, hence the goofy cartoon style.
its even sadder if you see that in the series they explain that when a diamond gaves an order to a loyal gem, they literally CANT dissobey it, so when pink told her "stay here very still", spinel literally CANT move anywhere else until pink dissapear, like she did and then spinel realize it on the news and happened again when steven dissapear on the concert, she cant find them anymore so she can dissobey, but mostly with pink: spinel was no longer loyalty, she realizes pink betray her
White Diamond Mental abuse Yellow Diamond Physical abuse Blue Diamond Emotional abuse Pink Diamond Neglective abuse(Literally Spinel and Steven whole childhood, that's why SU Future is so important)
Not only should we always remember that Roses story is shown backwards, but its also to show Pinks desires at the time. Pink had been trying to convince the diamonds to trust her enough with a planet to have of her own. She wanted to belong with the other diamonds as she felt belittled by them. So when she FINALLY got that chance, you can see she felt that Spinel was a relflection of her previous "child like behavior" that was scorned by the diamonds. So...a young, selfish and desperate Pink left Spinel. Is it awful? Yes. But I know many people whove made dumb awful decisions that have tried to changed for the better. And I think this and Future really point out how everyones flawed and makes mistakes.
And also we need to keep in mind, spinel is made to be a toy to distract pink not a person a toy, to pink at the time what she left behind was nothing more than a toy, how many people left behind their childish things to be seen as grown? I'd say most people who are in their teens
It just annoys me that characters never have consequences or we never see them cope with the consequences. We never saw her lament the war, the loss of friends she was just always so happy and excited. The Diamonds just LITERALLY DIDN’T have consequences.
@@artistaroundtheblock2047 they did, it just wasnt shown. The crystal gems talk about how she tried to heal the corrupted. She did lament thst she wasnt human and felt she wasnt someone who was capable of 'change' even tho she did everything in her power to do so. Her being facinated by humans because of this. The only reason she permantly transformed and 'killed pink diamond' was that she fully believed that it could change things. But it didnt. And we see flashes of her desperately trying to save the ones she could when the diamonds retaliated. The reason we dont see anything about her termoil.... Is because her story is not the focus of the show. Its stevens. Were seeing Steven come to terms that his mom wasnt perfect. That she did everything she could to hide her imperfect actions from even the gems and now he has to see that. Its to represent that this actually happens. Families and actions of the past bleeding into the present and affecting generations later. And while they didnt have the consequences that many feel theu should have, they didnt get away unscathed from everything. People tend to forget they DID lose someone and have had to face their grief for eons because of it. The pink they knew and loved is gone. She isnt there anymore. And it is because of their actions toward her and other planets. THAT is there punishment. They had to realize that they caused all of what happened. Thats why Blue Diamond had the epiphany of her behavior towards pink. Anyway. My point being that the shows core concept is 'change'. Woild many people be safisfied with white diamond getting blasted to kingdom come? Of course. But the puprose and point of the story is to show how people of all shapes colors and sizes can change. Good or bad. So of course the bad guys get the chance to do just that, and so for that it does what it needed to.
@@thebigmystery7841 People can change just not in the way the diamonds changed. You can’t change someone by saying, “ I’m a child what’s your excuse.” And even if you could that would only change her opinion about Pink being gone. Why then does she just do whatever Steven tells her to do. She may change and accept that Pink is gone by was does she accept that all life forms are equal? She may not be perfect like she thought but doesn’t mean that she just accepts that all life forms are equal are equal because there are leveled to perfection. Why doesn’t she see herself as more perfect that others and thus view them as lesser. How did we go from Pink isn’t here anymore to her blushing to her accepting all living things are equal? They didn’t actually change (the diamonds) they just put on facades of change to get Steven back which actually UNDERMINES the point of the whole show. They don’t actually think shattering is bad, or that everyone is equal they just say it to appease Steven which is why consequences were necessary. They’ll never actually change until they are given Justice. They also never got consequences for their colonies. They only got consequences for how they treated Pink by losing her so I fail to see that point. They couldn’t care less about the gems they corrupted. I agree that Rose wasn’t there so we couldn’t really see the consequences of the war on her though. The show was from Stevens perspective.
@@artistaroundtheblock2047 you do realize she wasnt completely cool at the end of the series and changed gradually right? Theres a massive time skip from the end of the series to future. Its made clear multiple times she also is still working on how she views others. Even in future. Just because its not your idea of a redemption doesnt mean it didnt happen. And again the shows point isnt 'justice'. And even then....is them completely reforming their reign on the galaxy to not even controlling it anymore I guess not enough? And they never actually change you say? Did you even watch future? Yellow tries and for the most part heals the gems she experimented on. Blue spends her time making gems feel happy instead of hurting them. White travels the galaxy letting other beings and gems use her as a puppet to understand themselves. Again....just because it doesnt fit into what you want and expected from the show doesnt mean change never happened. Its not perfect. Just like how Rose/Pink wasnt either. She changed but still had secrets. I feel like a lot of people who have these opinions always expect a black and white conclusion when this whole show is showing the moral grays of people. Life is not black and white and trusting others, forgivness and change arent just so cut and dry. Its something I appreciate.
I never would’ve thought of it but you’re right, maybe if amethyst would’ve turned into pink diamond for the Shapeshift pearl would’ve seen some thing… Also I love future, it’s brutally honest about like real emotional stuff I’ve had to work through myself. I can see why it ain’t everyone’s thing tho.
Learning spinel's backstory really had me feeling different about pink/rose tbh. I liked rose until I learned what she did to spinel. Then my main thought was "HOW COULD YOU!" This definitely isn't the worst thing a diamond has ever done, but it's easily the most personal which makes it feel like the most awful thing any of them has ever done
Yeah but don't forget how we saw her character devolopment in reverse, she was just a diamond, and diamonds were bad in general, then she changed to rose and became a better person.
Yeah but that was pink. The pink back then was incredibly immature and threw tantrums over not getting her way. Sheltered and abused she was fucked up yet grew into a better person.
When you asked how spinel got that injector, I think I remember this correctly, there was supposed to be a scene on how she got it when she was singing about her backstory, but they cut it because of the movie’s time limit is getting too long, I think, correct me if am wrong 🧐
Spinel is a unique gem made by the diamonds to keep pink busy, the creator confirmed that if there were to be other spinels their gem would be a different card suit
Okay once you finish the series I need you to react to a TH-cam video where they show Pink’s development in actual chronological order. Really changes your perspective.
Honestly I really don't get the hate that future gets. First everyone wanted an end to this series, and when CN canceled them half way we all fought for the completion of the series, the production was f*cked because they keep toying with them like "you only have 1 seasons left, sike now you have a movie, guess what now you get a final mini series to wrap it up" so her whole vision was scrambled throughout. Second, even with all that 💩 it still is fuking amazing and well told, and beyond all that as an end to the series it's honestly perfect, the deep themes and conversations, the actual good music, the art style, the voice acting, all the hard work and struggle behind it, it hands down my all time favorite "kids cartoon".💜
14:10 It's a fourth-wall break yeah, but remember Peridot is REALLY into TV shows, so "character development" could be a term she's really familiarized with and used it here. 15:12 It's one of my favorites, Bismuth ABSOLUTELY SLAYS in this. 26:29 Well, Spinel is a playmate, literally no gem needs a playmate as they are "configured" to only serve a purpose, whether that's guarding other gems, serving other gems, terraform planets, use technology, be a warrior. A Spinel most likely hasn't appeared because the gems don't have any personality other than their purpose, until "Rose Quartz" came along, therefore since they don't feel a need to play or relax, a Spinel would have no reason to appear. Pink Diamond was bored, didn't have a colony and was important enough to not be doing anything in planets, so they gave her a Spinel and they spent time in their little garden. They gave her a "perfect-cut" Spinel, basically meaning a PEAK Spinel, the same way Jasper is a PEAK Jasper, the most perfect and strongest version of her "race". The little bit we saw of Homeworld was the Diamond's court, where they have their ball, the off-colors' hideout and other places like Steven's changing room and the prison. There was no place where a Spinel would have fit in here, which is probably why we've never seen one. 29:01 Yeah, and you must have noticed since you left it there in the edit, she's seen standing there at 2:02. That's also why even though she lost her memories, she freaked out the moment Steven tried to leave her to go for Amethyst. 30:18 Again, we're watching her character development in reverse. If we tried to see Vegeta in a reverse character development we would see a now-loving man who is a father of 2 and good husband turn into a mass-murderer go destroyed and conquered planets like it was nothing. 38:00 Imagine how old the Diamonds are. It's the equal to a human lifespan to how long a fly has lived for. As for Steven Universe Future, I'm sure you've watched some episodes of it already, but people didn't like it probably because they didn't understand what was the point of it, though I'm hoping you figure out WHY Steven Universe Future is a thing, and not a typical "they extended the series because it was money-grabbing". So of course I'm watching Future with you, silly goose.
coven headwitch adrian grey here with notes for you to read: 1. spinel wasn't made for combat, but her 'gomu-gomu no mi' abilities (inspired by luffy from one piece) are very powerful and her unpredictability gives her a huge advantage in battle. as seen in the first battle where she wasn't lifting a finger, only dodging, but she was at a diferrent spot literally every second. she also had a lot more room to move around in than in other fights. 2. spinel's gem isn't unique. every gem has a diferrent shape and her's is a heart. 3. the reason there aren't other spinels is that she was made SPECIFICALLY for pink diamond. no other diamond or gem spends their time playing. 4. although she probably didn't get what was going on, it's iinnffuurriiaattiinngg(!!!) that steven not finding where to put the rejuvenator is the ONLY thing that happened when spinel didn't have her memory that she DOESN'T remember despite the fact we see it happen RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER FACE. 5. during the show, spinel got her memories because she saw everyone acending to the sky without her and leaving her. (phew... got the spinel stuff out of the way) 6. amethyst's appearance and behavior when she's reset is due to the fact that she is a defective gem, but after she was found by the crystal gems and saw people animals living outside the kindergarden, she slowly managed to form her own personality. that's the reason she is drawn to shapeshifting and has many habits normal gems don't, such as eating. (it also could be that she already formed a bit of personality while she was in the kindergarden since she was alone for a long time and therefore without someone to copy) 7. pearl's love and loyalty to pink/rose didn't matter at the rock show because she was completely reset, with emphasis on comletely. 8. pink most likely left spinel in the garden because she had to look dignified enough to run a colony, and spinel isn't. in her defense, at the point when she changed and stopped being so selfish, she couldn't go back anymore. 9. for something that's supposed to destroy all life on earth, the injector didn't do much. 10. none of these are taken from an official source, they just make sense and nothing contradicts them in the story. 11. join a coven or i'll hunt you down. I work for the emperor, kind of my job.
I think people give Future way to much grief because they wanted it to be a continuation and it's not, it's an epilogue. Was it perfect? No. But it did what it needed to do, which was not give the fans closure, but give the characters closure.
Yeah, I really hope this isn't the peak and hope that everyone sticks around to watch more shows with you. Well anyway, loved this and I already know that I'm gonna love the rest of SUF.
Oh! One of my favorite comparisons of Spinel is to a friend that....just shouldnt be friends with you. Or you with them. Even if you really want it. I actually had a friend in middle school who didnt have many other friends. She was...very clingy. Overly aggressive with my friends, almost like she was territorial. It became too much for me and I had to break off my friendship from her and she grew very hostile. It doesnt mean spinel is a bad person or what pink did was okay. But i do feel like its really what a lot of spinels behavior and the relationship with pink just heavily implies that relationships can be messy and sometimes friends and who we thought they were can just sometimes not work.
i still have the original airing of the movie on my dvr. 10/10 movie. seeing all your reactions to this is fantastic. i also squealed when connie kissed steven it was very cute. rebecca mustve felt really bad about that toy she left behind to make 2 songs about it lol. spinels are sometimes used to be fake diamonds! it makes sense theres only 1 spinel, the diamonds arent supposed to 'play' other than pink, who was treated like the gem equivalent of a kid. i think pearl loved rose. pink was kinda....i guess her god? but rose wanted to be there, with her, a pearl. STEG STEG STEG and poal returns~ imagine, every episode of steven universe and just an image of spinel standing in the garden plastered in the corner. its theorized that after white took pinks pearl, they gave pink our pearl and spinel, to keep work and play seperate. since pink had a colony and was going to 'work' she didnt wanna 'play'. also, you cant just....replace someones friend with a new toy they didnt even want. i feel for spinel, but i also feel for pink/rose. pink WAS a bad person, but thats cause of her background, she didnt know better. when she came to earth and was reborn, she was still growing and learning. we learn rose's story backwards, seeing her all graceful and holy, to her bad origins. "Change" is my favorite song in this movie its just so good. "hydration is important for smooching" garnet your not that slick xD
I always found it ironic how _everyone_ was at the beginning of the movie saying things like "Bro Spinel's mad annoying 😒" but then as soon as Drift away plays they go "Poor Spinel, I hate Pink diamond 😭"
I don’t understand why most people hate su future it’s the best thing a cartoon did in my opinion. I love how they show the physiological impact on a child hero it is very realistic. I relate to It in a degree and it helped me find hope and understand myself a bit more.
Honestly, don't take the dislike for Future too seriously. I think the reason so many people hate on it is because it's such a solid progression... and change is hard for people (ironic considering SU is all about dealing with/accepting change). Not to invalidate people's opinions, but a lot of the discussion around it that I hear is "this isn't *my* Steven!" And like... yeah. He grew up. He changed. I love Future. It's a perfect epilogue to the series.
i love older steven's singing voice, i really wish that they gave him more chances to sing in his normal voice rather than pitching it up for the series proper. also fun fact, chance the rapper helped with "true kinda love" looking forward to your future reactions (meaning steven universe future LOL but also adventure time), i personally enjoyed SUF.
the 'let's play a game' moment is the worst thing rose/pink diamond ever did. It makes her entire ideology a lie, because there were many hundreds of years where she could have gone back and gotten Spinel before the warp network went down, and she never, ever told anyone Spinel even existed. If rose truly thought all gems deserved freedom and self-determination and happiness, she would have gone and 'liberated' spinel. She didn't have to tell anyone she was pink diamond, she could just do it, during the entire rebellion before the warp network went offline. She didn't because Spinel *personally annoyed her*. It means that what she did to Bismuth wasn't all that extraordinary, when you think about it. How many more Bismuths might there have been? She didn't tell Pearl, Amethyst, or Garnet about that, either.
I love steven universe, and the messages it sends, and im the type of person who will defend it because of how much it means to me. However, my main problem is how they handled Rose/Pink Diamond. I'm not gonna say she's a saint and forgive her actions, but it rubs me the wrong way that they paint her as such a villain when the other diamonds did arguably worse things. And especially how it was established that she was also neglected and implied to have been abused in the main series, Steven even saying "How many times did you hit her? How many times did you make her cry?" to Blue. Again, I'm not saying that justifies her actions, but it just makes me uncomfortable how the other Diamonds are forgiven so easily. And don't get me wrong, I do like the diamonds alot, and I honestly don't mind their redemption. It's just that it feels like their actions got swept under the rug way too easily, and Rose/Pink's weren't. I think another thing is that her redemption arc is shown to us completely backwards, so we end the series from her beginning, and thus leave the series with only that viewpoint. When in the end, while flawed and still having done some bad things, she was arguably a better person by her end. And yes, she still did leave Spinel, and she still hurt people, I'm not excusing or dismissing them at all- she should have apologized or came back to Spinel. But its weird how. demonized she is in the show and by the fanbase. When she's such a complex character. It's okay to dislike her, but I just wish the show didn't make her seem like an evil person when she's got so many layers to her.
Yeah... I just wished the characters or at least Steven acknowledge that fact in future, I dislike how fans warp pink's character to justify their complete hatred of her
I don't really consider Peridot's line about losing character development a fourth-wall break, because Peridot learned a lot about life on earth from watching TV (specifically Camp Pining Hearts) so it makes sense that she'd use that kind of terminology in her day to day.
I think it's a completely in-character line that's also a fourth-wall break, it cracks me up every time.

@@cloverlucky5977 Stevens flamboyant that's why
The reason why we never saw any other Spinels is that it’s implied that she was custom made for Pink as a way to keep her busy and entertained
There would be no need for gems with that purpose outside of Pink’s case
pink diamond is probably one of the most complex and nuanced characters I've ever seen in animation, her personality has just as many facets as her gem has. she definitely WASN'T a good person, she was someone who was raised under white diamond's rule, so she was trained for a long time to see other gems as tools (or in spinel's case, toys). pink is definitely someone who TRIED to do good, and tried to make up for a lot of what she did; but she's also someone who DID shove all of that to steven, did run away from the things she's responsible for, and ultimately forgot about a toy she left somewhere back when she thought of gems as toys. she's someone who tried to do good, but she's also a tragedy about how she didn't do enough.
I'm a fan of this theory.
Think about when Greg asked her to talk to him and she looked so confused and hurt, asking "Is this not how it works?"
Because that's all she knew.
And after the war they destroyed every off world warp pad to make sure the Diamond's couldn't easily return to the planet.

gem character reset things i love:
-pearl is made for whoever first claims her, essentially
-our ruby was made for our sapphire
-amythest was made to fit in with the other warriors and copy them (or she was "wrong" and is missing the programmed behavior she's supposed to have)
-spinel is made FOR pink diamond .......and steven is pink diamond/has her gem. so spinel knows she's made for him
i love this movie so much
its important to remember that Pink's story is in reverse - we see everyone she hurt AFTER we learn about her time as Rose. SU is all about redemption - Pink was redeemed.
A lot of people don’t like the message of the end of the movie and the reprise of “Let us Adore You” and I can understand why but I honestly think it works and it’s very wholesome
Spinel was a kid who was grieving over the loss of her family, and the Diamonds were a family who was grieving over the loss of their kid, and both happened to be the same person (Pink Diamond)
They were suffocating Steven a bit because they missed having a child in their lives so much, and now they have a child who’s suffered so much and wants all the attention, care and love that they can give
As the song says, together, they can learn to love again
I can see how the execution can be flawed considering that the Diamonds are not good people, but in concept at least, ignoring the fact that the Diamonds have done a LOT of messed up stuff, I think it ties the two stories perfectly and gives closure and conclusion to both sides

"It doesn't look like a heart" most gem don't look like anything until they're cut.
How it actually fucks up the mental health part
So when that part is vad and it's the main focus... y'know it gets kinda bad
on your question, i feel like pink isnt being portrayed as a bad person but more as a complicated person like everyone else in the series.
I personallyprefer how it was dealt with in mindful education but I still really like future
Instead of Future we could have had a Pink Diamond’s spin off series or ANYTHING to expand the show, but no, we had to just continue it and ruin it
@@zackz7563 you realize the shattering part was a HUGE plot point right?
@@MarrowsRedemptionArc not by the end. It was fixed, thus not permanent anymore
When we were first introduced to rose at the start of the show, it was from the perspective of her as this idealized person after she had thousands of years of regrets and mistakes, and over the course of the series and now the movie we see more and more of the bad things she did BEFORE she became a good person.

this is exactly my take. a lot of people tend to forgot that Spinel was abandoned *right as Pink was given earth*.
Spinel pretty much at the "Great and Lovable Peridot" level
Spinel isn't "weird". She just has trauma from abandonment, and needs to feel included and cared for. She's afraid of being left behind or forgotten about again... I really understand all of that... It makes me cry a lot.
Also, I know you got this later, but I posted this earlier in the video before the Drift Away song. Anyway, that song hurts me so much...
@@kynealy3658 Yes, I meant that there's a character arc for Steven but no one else, really.
i love pink diamond!! shes not any worse than the other diamonds (in fact her redemption was much more in depth) we just see a lot more of her past actions & view her character development in reverse
Dude! First, I gotta say, "I love that sweater." 😲
Also, I love that you caught the voice of the Diamonds singing the intro song.
the pink pearl theories and the other theories really enjoyed future
I love all three SU, SU: The Movie, and SU: Future. They're all great in telling the story and how it ends all together, Steven Universe: Future is a great ending, it tells us how Steven is doing after everything he went through from the start of season 1. Your reactions are pretty great too, can't wait to see the reactions soon 💖💖
BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
Can we just appreciate how awesome this mans reactions are tho.. Like fr
I'm always down for his Steven Universe and Gravity Falls vids
Opal's VA (Aimee Mann) and Stegg's VA (Ted Leo) perform together as The Both. Which is probably why we got a random Opal appearance.
Thank you - that's a cool fact to know.
Fun Fact: Spinel is the real name of the Heart shaped Gem Spinel has, I found it in a dictionary once lol
Yeah someone lied big time to him
It's not terrible lol

personally, future sucks to me specifically because of the concentrated hate for Rose that season perpetuates.
I personally love future! I think it’s an amazing reflection of the things that most people missed, and it focuses more on Steven which I love :)
I love future to at the beginning it’s a little slow but it becomes my favorite story in the entire show
All of the latter half of the original show focuses on Steven. It was a criticism of the show what are you talking about.
"Did Pink Diamond really just like... ruin some people's lives?"
Yes. Yes she did 😑
The animation style is called Rubber Hose, made very popular in the cartoons of the early 20th century.
Stevens outfit represents all four Diamonds the shirt being Blue with a yellow star then his pink jacket with some white lines on it
Ah, Spinel... one of my favorite characters in all of Steven Universe!

Fun fact: Opal’s and Steg’s voice actors are actually in a band together
Wow I didn't know that
I used to think Peri was my favorite character, then we met Spinel and she quickly became my favorite.
I remember watching this for the first time and just bawling no matter the seriousness of the abandonment everyone knows how it feels to be left or not wanted
Yes!!!! Its finally arrived. Congrats scoot. Lets get it also can't wait for Future!!!!
this guy
I actually really really enjoyed Future! I think Future was limited just because I think it had more story to tell than it could feasibly fit in ten episodes. Future also flat out had me sobbing at parts so look forward to that.
In the matter of wether or not Pink is a bad person for leaving Spinel, you’d first have to consider her perspective:
For starters, Spinel was a good playmate but not a good friend, every time she tried to cheer up Steven, it amounted to her saying “HEY!
EDIT:
Also don't listen to those fools who say Future is bad. It's just different. It's still good.
If you enjoy Zach Callison's performance (Steven's VA) I'd super recommend you listen to his ep 'A Picture Perfect Hollywood Heartbreak' if you havent already, its really something else
Someone else who knows Zach Callison’s name!!!!!.
i bet it feels so goood to finally be done editing this and getting it out
I'd imagine
LIGHTSPEED CLICKIN IM FLASH FR FR
Fun Fact! The tapdancing during Steven and Amethyst's song was Peridot's VA
No, it's because Spinel is a freeform shapeshifter, even more so than Amethyst. Someone who can alter their form so easily and abruptly is a difficult opponent indeed. Ironic since Spinel was designed to be a toy more than anything, hence the goofy cartoon style.
its even sadder if you see that in the series they explain that when a diamond gaves an order to a loyal gem, they literally CANT dissobey it, so when pink told her "stay here very still", spinel literally CANT move anywhere else until pink dissapear, like she did and then spinel realize it on the news and happened again when steven dissapear on the concert, she cant find them anymore so she can dissobey, but mostly with pink: spinel was no longer loyalty, she realizes pink betray her
White Diamond
Mental abuse
Yellow Diamond
Physical abuse
Blue Diamond
Emotional abuse
Pink Diamond
Neglective abuse(Literally Spinel and Steven whole childhood, that's why SU Future is so important)
@@thebigmystery7841
People can change just not in the way the diamonds changed.
Hm I don't think so, she would react the same, pearls are like baby chicks they imprinted on the first person they see
"Did Pink Diamond really just like, ruin some people's lives lowkey?" Yes. Full stop.
I loved future - not every episode is amazing but that’s true in seasons 1-5 too. It’s a great continuation.
Marceline's "everything stays" song fits so well Spinel
Ikr. I know her character development is backwards and shit but she had CENTURIES to remember her like 💀
@@danielaonate583 How would Rose go after Spinel, though? Sure, she had her legs ship, but how would she go after Spinel without breaking her cover?
I mean, the diamonds have almost certainly exterminated countless races throughout the galaxy. So... they gloss over it, but hey
11:44 spinel is a gem lol
When you asked how spinel got that injector, I think I remember this correctly, there was supposed to be a scene on how she got it when she was singing about her backstory, but they cut it because of the movie’s time limit is getting too long, I think, correct me if am wrong 🧐
Spinel is a unique gem made by the diamonds to keep pink busy, the creator confirmed that if there were to be other spinels their gem would be a different card suit
Okay once you finish the series I need you to react to a TH-cam video where they show Pink’s development in actual chronological order. Really changes your perspective.
Oh I second this!!
I need a compilation of Scoot asking “Is [insert gem here] a gem”
“I can see some people crying watching this”
Me: *wiping my tears* … 👁️👄👁️
Love how ever since White actually grew up (mentally), she still acts like a kid
7:30 yes she's been around somewhere 🥲
coven headwitch adrian grey here with notes for you to read:
1. spinel wasn't made for combat, but her 'gomu-gomu no mi' abilities (inspired by luffy from one piece) are very powerful and her unpredictability gives her a huge advantage in battle. as seen in the first battle where she wasn't lifting a finger, only dodging, but she was at a diferrent spot literally every second. she also had a lot more room to move around in than in other fights.
2. spinel's gem isn't unique. every gem has a diferrent shape and her's is a heart.
3. the reason there aren't other spinels is that she was made SPECIFICALLY for pink diamond. no other diamond or gem spends their time playing.
4. although she probably didn't get what was going on, it's iinnffuurriiaattiinngg(!!!) that steven not finding where to put the rejuvenator is the ONLY thing that happened when spinel didn't have her memory that she DOESN'T remember despite the fact we see it happen RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER FACE.
5. during the show, spinel got her memories because she saw everyone acending to the sky without her and leaving her.
(phew... got the spinel stuff out of the way)
6. amethyst's appearance and behavior when she's reset is due to the fact that she is a defective gem, but after she was found by the crystal gems and saw people animals living outside the kindergarden, she slowly managed to form her own personality. that's the reason she is drawn to shapeshifting and has many habits normal gems don't, such as eating. (it also could be that she already formed a bit of personality while she was in the kindergarden since she was alone for a long time and therefore without someone to copy)
7. pearl's love and loyalty to pink/rose didn't matter at the rock show because she was completely reset, with emphasis on comletely.
8. pink most likely left spinel in the garden because she had to look dignified enough to run a colony, and spinel isn't. in her defense, at the point when she changed and stopped being so selfish, she couldn't go back anymore.
9. for something that's supposed to destroy all life on earth, the injector didn't do much.
10. none of these are taken from an official source, they just make sense and nothing contradicts them in the story.
11. join a coven or i'll hunt you down. I work for the emperor, kind of my job.
su future is bittersweet and it's difficult. They don't do fan service. But it's a good ending
11:34 I had to put my food down to listen to what was coming through my speakers💀, like huh?
I cried like a baby from the beginning tell the end my eyes were filled with tears I had to watch it 3 to 4 times so I can properly watch it lol
23:28 Amethyst never saw Pink diamond she doesn't know how she looks like
I think people give Future way to much grief because they wanted it to be a continuation and it's not, it's an epilogue. Was it perfect? No. But it did what it needed to do, which was not give the fans closure, but give the characters closure.
Spinel is indeed a type of gem/crystal.
Yeah, I really hope this isn't the peak and hope that everyone sticks around to watch more shows with you. Well anyway, loved this and I already know that I'm gonna love the rest of SUF.
I reckon only one spinel was created. Pink was the only gem who would need/be given a playmate
6000 years isn’t long for the diamonds, they’re ridiculously old. For Spinel it was the vast majority of her life.
i still have the original airing of the movie on my dvr.
STEG STEG STEG and poal returns~
imagine, every episode of steven universe and just an image of spinel standing in the garden plastered in the corner.
its theorized that after white took pinks pearl, they gave pink our pearl and spinel, to keep work and play seperate. since pink had a colony and was going to 'work' she didnt wanna 'play'. also, you cant just....replace someones friend with a new toy they didnt even want. i feel for spinel, but i also feel for pink/rose.
pink WAS a bad person, but thats cause of her background, she didnt know better. when she came to earth and was reborn, she was still growing and learning. we learn rose's story backwards, seeing her all graceful and holy, to her bad origins.
"Change" is my favorite song in this movie its just so good.
"hydration is important for smooching" garnet your not that slick xD
I always found it ironic how _everyone_ was at the beginning of the movie saying things like
"Bro Spinel's mad annoying 😒" but then as soon as Drift away plays they go
"Poor Spinel, I hate Pink diamond 😭"
I don’t understand why most people hate su future it’s the best thing a cartoon did in my opinion. I love how they show the physiological impact on a child hero it is very realistic. I relate to It in a degree and it helped me find hope and understand myself a bit more.
I think people just want more lore
Rubberhose is what Spinel is replicating.
Yeah your right
Thank you for the efforts to edit this beast. Looking forward to the music reaction video.
i love older steven's singing voice, i really wish that they gave him more chances to sing in his normal voice rather than pitching it up for the series proper.
also fun fact, chance the rapper helped with "true kinda love"
looking forward to your future reactions (meaning steven universe future LOL but also adventure time), i personally enjoyed SUF.
Zach Callison is his name.
yep
the 'let's play a game' moment is the worst thing rose/pink diamond ever did.
Ignore ppl who say future is bad , it will affect ur thoughts once you start watching it
Also you should totally react to infinity train!
Spinel looks and acts funny, so she her gem is caring with her heart, hence the heart-shaped gem.
Yeah... I just wished the characters or at least Steven acknowledge that fact in future, I dislike how fans warp pink's character to justify their complete hatred of her
Spinel is the only gem we know who had poofed from heart break.
