I got annoyed at PlayStation's anti-consumer practices so I switched to PC in 2022. The limitations of consoles become so much more obvious.
I switched to PC in 2019 but I also gave the PS5 a chance last year (still a PC main of course), and I was disappointed. I gave it away to a cousin of mine and I'm now leaving consoles for good. Nintendo doesn't charm me as it had once done either so no I'm not coming back to that either.
How can you claim this is the worst console generation? Have you not heard about the PS5'S magical SSD?
it can transport us into a different dimension where we can see a gender bend version of us
dude nvme ssd existed for a decade, the ps5 is an amazing console but 500 for this in the middle of the generation aint worth it.
@quandaledingleofficial6 no. The ps5's ssd has magic in it that has never existed before. Magic that allows it to do things no other ssd is capable of doing.

Honestly, back in the 90s, consoles were largely doing better gaming than PCs, especially for the price.
Now not so much. The late 360 era is really where the scales tipped
I thought it was PS4 era, or later but yeah gaming PCs surpassed consoles more than a decade ago.
@@slamshift6927 I feel like I need a history lesson on pc gaming cause who was talking about pc during the nes/genesis era? 💀
Its honestly asinine that none of the consoles have dropped in price even the switch , at least the xbox can be found cheaper than msrp by a reasonable amount new, and then you have Sony still selling new ps4 slims
The 90? The same decade as quake, half life, age of empires 2, command and conquer, unreal, myst, fallout, diablo and doom? Those 90s?
@@vegg6408Yes, in spite of those titles, because with the 1990s, the PC was rapidly changing with better hardware released every year or two, and you had to deal with driver conflicts, finicky configuration requirements, and an overall less stable/consistent platform to deal with, even though it was very exciting to begin with for the aforementioned reasons as well. Nowadays, PCs are either basically simple yet powerful SoCs in a shell, or simple yet powerful sets of Lego pieces stuck together to make a working system, making them accessible to those who theoretically can be able to just build a PC with ease.
Im so glad I've completely skipped this console generation. Switched to PC back in 2019 and never looked back.

Truth as evident of the 40+ ps2 titles, 20+ gamecube, and just over 30 ps3 games I have on my shelf. Funnily enough I started leaning heavily into the PC side around 2001-2002 and yet I still bought all those titles. Shows just how good those generations were.
Throw in that Dreamcast too 😅
The nice thing about gaming PCs is that you can do anything a PC can. You can make art, write school essays, compose music, and more. You can even find a practical purpose for that shiny graphics card in something like modeling or 3D printing.
Try doing practical work on a console.
How's any of that "practical work" what does having a powerful pc help woth working in retail for example
@@ELIZABETHMARLONE2005 Retail is a poor example because sales associates do not require much computer skill nor a strong computer to fulfill their job responsibilities. However, graphic design, 3D modeling, data analysis, video editing, programming, etc. are all jobs that depend on or benefit from strong PC hardware.
Nonetheless, a console can't do what even budget PCs can. Retail managers more likely that not use office software. Office suites aren't marketed to consoles. You need PC software to make a respectable resume. You NEED a PC in this age, even if you're borrowing one in the library. You don't need a game console.
The cost of a budget PC plus the money you would have spent on a bleeding edge console can buy a gaming PC that runs games better AND does more than the console ever could.
@@CapnCoconuts try living in NZ with a awful economy a work laptop for example costs more than a series s I got my series s for 300 for a laptop brand new your looking at 6-700
@@ELIZABETHMARLONE2005 do you know how much money you can make by being a freelance 3D animator?
But regardless, Gaming PC's are not limited to just gaming. That was the point of the comment. The possibilities on PC are endless. I myself have a powerful PC so I can do several things. One of which is my work from home setup. Instead of having another PC for work, I run a virtual machine, so essentially, my computer is 2 computers in one. Once I'm done work, I power off the VM, and all my work stuff is isolated from my personal stuff.
A gaming PC is so much more than just for games. Hell, you can create games with it.
Yeah, and those four, or five hundred dollar game machines are just budget off the shelf PCs with very little proprietary hardware in them (not like the old days), and, gimped custom operating systems that are forever two generations behind current PC graphical hardware.
Consoles in 6th gen: Special processors, power efficient, exclusives only possible on that hardware, free online, simple online
Consoles in 9th gen: Here's a crappy PC that you don't own

Exclusives are overrated
Whoever designed that room and God of War can go to hell honestly. I was getting annoyed just watching.
It doesn't matter if you play on PC or console or even your phone, all that matters is you have fun.
My favorite part of business is they're still making money, but if they're not making MORE money than the last time they showed they made money, somehow that means they're not making money and deserve out pity for only making $100b instead of $101b. My heart breaks for these companies
Exactly. they have to make record profits every Quarter. Which is impossible to do. But they still expect it. You make $150b Q1? Good. Make $300b Q2 else your company is shuttered. Fuck the consumer, the Execs and CEOs need that money. When they already (most of them anyway) roll in tens or hundreds of millions a year.
That's the corporate mindset for you. Forget the long term, we want maximum profit NOW.
I’m a console player. I buy discs almost exclusively and buy PlayStation accessories specifically for the smoothest uniform experience. I like the convenience and the ease of use, which is objectively better than PC no matter what you say. I’m a PC player too, but I think people forget how hard it is for your average user and annoying it is for someone who isn’t a hardcore gamer. I also appreciate the closed, clean nature of the UI and system.
I plug in my PS5, I play Elden Ring, I get happy. Easy as. But FUCK the prices
I remember arguing with people about how it was dumb to get a PS5 back then and they justified the price with inflation, as if they weren't all crying when the PS3 was the same price and also released just before a recession
But then the PS3 actually had games and they weren't woke either
I remember when "PS3 has no games" was a trending meme.
@@CapnCoconuts "Playstation has no freaking games"
@@CapnCoconuts Thankfully that didn't last long lol.
I built my first gaming PC in 2011 to play Skyrim. I was still mainly a console player, but what made me switch fully to PC was two things: Sony announced that PS+ would be mandatory for multiplayer games on the PS4 and neither the Xbox One nor the PS4 would be backwards compatible with 7th gen games (at least at the time).
Why would I pay $400 for a console that can't play my existing library and demands a monthly fee to access the internet I already pay for? Didn't help I had been introduced to Steam and saw how much better it was than Xbox Live or PS+ despite being free.
I've got to give a lot of credit to Ghost of Tsushima. It has realistic graphics, but the art style is stellar and beautiful. Plus, the story is actually good. Most stories are put at the forefront and just get in the way of everything else. I couldn't make it past the first hour of Horizon Zero Dawn. So much boring blah blah blah, but the combat I've seen does look pretty cool.
That's a huge problem with quite a few Sony IPs. So much dialogue... so many cutscenes that go on for far too long... that and how the game treats you like you're a Neanderthal. I know what a puzzle is and know that I need more than two brain cells to solve it. So let me fucking solve it without you giving it away after 5 seconds. It's why I never bothered to chase after the PS4 despite owning one. I played some fun games on it, but never did I play anything riveting that matched something like Gears of War, Forza or Halo (back when Bungie made it). The only things I played on the PS4 were some anime games that I couldn't get anywhere else- even on the PC (at the time).
Well that what makes Playstation games interesting. The stories and a semi-movie that you can participate in.
PC gaming is the king of shooter games. Xbox... I don't know the appeal.
The current consoles aren’t the issue. They just need to make games that run properly on the hardware.
I do agree that pricing for console games is getting very wack, with recent AAA games being 70/80 bucks and some first party Nintendo games like freaking Mario Kart 8 Deluxe not dropping even though that game is a bazillion years old.
Nowadays, I either wait a bit for the price to get lower on new games or buy them second hand.
I was one that got a PS5 and got rid of it after 2 years. I only used it for Yakuza games, spiderman, final fantasy 7 remake at the time and PCs were very expensive during COVID. So I finally got rid of my PS5, got a steam deck and then later on got a PC.
Thank God for steam and their family share plan. I don't really miss PlayStation
the takeaway of this video is to dust off my old god of war games on my old ps2.
13:15 This is why to me the end of the Switch's the life cycle is super interesting to me. The fact Mario and Luihi Brothership looks so good is because of the artstyle/art direction that can use the full tech of the Switch. Or the Xenoblade games etc.
I kind of have hope that eventually this chasing of high fedelity graphics bubble will burst forcing devs to rely on artstyle again. Kind of like a cuktural reset for gaming. Pipedream i know but Someone has to be hopeful.
I’m a PC gamer, and I think the consoles are forcing themselves out of growth with the price point. This is why Nintendo is doing so much better than the other 2. Portability and price to entry. Nintendos games are severely overpriced, but people don’t see that. They see the switch at the store for $250, or the light for $168. That’s a big deal. Low enough to be an impulse buy. Honestly I can spend the same as a PS5 and get the mid range steam deck OLED, have access to more games, can take it on the go or dock it, or interface it with my PC. What the hell is the point of a $550 console? I think console will continue to shrink (save switch), and PC will continue to grow, especially with the growing popularity of handhelds.
Ps5's and Xbox series X's need to be $200 asap.
@@dinar8749 I don’t think they can drop the price that low without losing massive amounts of money. They’ve painted themselves into a corner with their hardware design,

The biggest with consoles is that the games take so long, that you need the future console to play something that was announced 5 years ago.
But since the development startet for the older one the new one will have the old one just ported.
The biggest expectation they have is you buying a new console every year.
At some point growth will always be stagnant
infinite growth in a finite world
1% better looking graphics are sooooooo worth 10 year development times!!!! /s
But on PC you will need a new graphics card that is more expensive than the console

I've been saying for a while now that this is probably my last console gen, the 10th gen really needs to do something special to sway me back, the only thing I can see holding me back is my existing game collection...which I'm slowly building back on steam everytime there's a sale
If the Console Generations cycle had to fully end, I really believe this could be it!
The more realistic a game tries to be the more straining it is on my eyes. I look at games like Elden Ring and it feels amazing then I look at games like GoW or TLoU and I turn them off after 10 min. My eyes start to hurt due to all the textures, shadows and effects.

I honestly think everything in terms of Sony and Microsoft in the console gaming space started to go downhill after the PS2 era and definitely after the Xbox 360 came out. Games use to be a lot more creative and innovative back in the day. The gameplay needs to come back. Feels like everything is about graphics or copying and pasting the same open worlds over and over again. This is why I still go back to the original Xbox and ps1. It was just a better time for gaming. A lot has been lost in time. Very disappointing.
As soon as both the PS5 and XSX dropped and both pushed to end physical copies, I knew it was over.
Consoles, are no more. And Nintendo is the winner.
If for the next generation both Microsoft and Sony don't turn their respective former console franchises into Gaming PC's, same goes for Nintendo, it's over.
I hardly doubt Nintendo can get away once again with selling a gimmicky inferior console, as PC in both desktop and portable formats is becoming the standard.
The mistake is trying to compete with computers.
The tech used to be cheap and games used to be different experiences from the PC. Now every game is the same. I just don't care. I still playing portable consoles tho, 3ds, vita and switch, still provide me something unique.
Best decision i made was to start moving to pc gaming. I put together 2 pc, one for me and one for the wife. GPUs 3090 Ti, 2080 Super both of us are happy. You spend money in the parts but the games are cheap. I got to keep my whole game collection with emulators. A true backwards compatible machine.
I switched to PC in December 2020.
DMC5 was the last straw for me personally. That games load times were legit atrocious and to the point i just couldn’t stand it anymore. I have a pretty overkill pc but shoot it isn’t necessary at all to have one like that. I’m sure for the same price as a PS5 I could whip up something decent, or maybe a bit more.
Genuinely there’s no reason to get a console. And to anyone on the fence, just build a PC. Aside from gaming, you can do things like digital art, 3D rendering, a much easier time typing out resumes etc.
If you only care about gaming, the use of mods alone justifies never looking back.
And that’s not even addressing the elephant, emulation with disc drives if you want to still use physical media.
You should have played it on the ps5. The magical ssd is leagues above anything a pc can hope to do
What rig did you get?
@@TheJohhnyE Are you being sarcastic?

It’s no wonder Nintendo has done their own shit where it’s the only console that at least has interesting games that isn’t focused on graphics. Granted, anyone can be a Sea of Thieves to play them without buying the Switch, but just by the fact it’s close to beating the PS2 as the best selling console of all time says a lot by comparison to the other consoles this generation.
Well shit, today I learned that a gen had a buyback program. I went straight from the PS2 to the 360 so I kind of missed out on that.
I switched to PC gaming in 2015 and never looked back.
There was never a buy back program. That's called trading in your console at GameStop.
I keep my Series X around because sometimes I just like to sit on my couch and play a game from game pass every now and again. Most of media consumption (including games) is done on my pc. A console is worth it for me, but I could never ACTUALLY defend choosing console OVER a pc. Like if some deranged man came in with a baseball bad and made me choose between my xbox and my pc, I'm gonna let him take a bat to the xbox.
I own the Ps5 & Series X, I'm still building a PC currently (got it running, DESPERATELY need upgraded parts). If consoles want more players, lower their prices & give more consumer options!
Exactly.

I have been a PC player since the end of the DS era, mostly out of necessity
my parents wouldn't give me cash for my allowance, and I didn't see the point in getting a 3DS for exclusive games when I had other stuff to play on PC
been keeping that same energy since then
Joe's inner musician coming out today! I gave up on consoles last generation as well. Also wanted the higher frame rates and overall freedom and flexibility that pc offers. Consoles could avoid a big part of the frame rate issues by simply not pushing the resolution and fluff like Ray Tracing. While both are nice, both 4K and Ray Tracing are frame rate killers. As for price cuts, I'm not expecting much across the entire gaming industry. Even pc tech is barely dropping in price these days or it's dropping to base retail at minimum.
It's even worse knowing that they have the technology and the know how to make these consoles better and stronger, but the only reason they don't, is simply because they don't want to have to recoup the costs of making them. If they actually wanted to give us the best, then they wouldn't be worried about recouping the costs and focus on satisfying customers with the games on said consoles.
2:30 easy fix. Make actually good next gen games. Hire people on skill, not diveristy. Stop adding grindy battlepasses and over the top microtransactions and give us a reason to get the console other then the bs exclusives
That requires making good games and being pro consumer though.
that's not how that work's buddy you can do both you can hire based on diversity and take skills into account but then again i don't expect nuance from anti-wokies
The challenge with achieving diversity is the potential for bias when selecting candidates. For instance, if an organization lacks individuals from a specific demographic group (e.g., skin color A) and predominantly employs individuals from another group (e.g., skin color B), there is a risk that a more qualified candidate from group B may be overlooked in favor of a less qualified candidate from group A solely to meet diversity targets. While it is important to have a diverse workforce, hiring decisions should be based on merit and qualifications, not divisive principles.
You ain't lying bro I got a liquid cooled i7 and 4070 ti and I sold my series x and PS5. PS5 was a joke to me with the heavy upscaling and non playable quality mode.
Correct good Sir. Let it all rot, let it die. I'm good here on PC, there is way too much good stuff to play. I'll take a game or two from Sony or Microsoft on sale now and then, but they can keep their consoles and subscriptions.
As a person who never even touched a console, it's nice to know even more people and games are comming to my platform😊 (pc / laptop)

Can i use my 4k new tv for gaming as a monitor?
Yes you can, I have my PC hooked up to a 4K 120hz tv. Just hook up a HDMI cable from your GPU to your TV and you're all set.
We need to go back to the time when consuls were cheaper And we are, PlayStation, and both Xbox had great exclusives and reasons to buy their consuls. That strategy still works. You know how I know it works Nintendo is still doing that exact thing.
Yeah? Now they're also going after EVERYONE that does something with anything to do with their IPs that isn't remotely official...
Consoles are generally cheaper and simpler than PCs, that's the appeal. The people still on console generally like consoles and don't want to play on PC, despite some obvious advantages.
As time goes by, specific consoles will matter less and less, but that just means more choice for consumers.
Oh my god, i just remembered. Xbox is doing new models and one of them is 2tb Series X for 600$... Why? I bought a PC at that price.
Another question: why consoles are expensive now? They were always the cheapest way to get into gaming but now they are practicly the same price as a budget PC and for some reason, not getting any price cuts, actually they get even more expensive, games also are more expensive and those companies want to kill the only other option people have, physical discs that you can buy for cheap second hand, that's not how it should be
Death of physical media might be a good thing as everyone will realise sony and microsoft can exploit them far more, and they will all jump to pc lol
They want to eliminate Physical Disks because then they can control the pricing on their games. You want to buy a game but can't afford it and decide to wait it out? Too bad, it's still full price 8 months later- even a year and a half later. As much as I want Physical media to stay, it's not happening when most people have made the switch to digital because of "convenience" and even more are sick of what's being done to physical media now, so even THEY make the switch to digital. It's game over man, game over.
@@MLPIceberg The future is PC and piracy.
Microsoft is already starting to shift efforts toward games on things like Amazon firesticks. Physical media is effectively dead removing any reason to buy a console for secondary purposes like home media something which sold the PS2, PS3 and PS4 for many people. Nintendo is the only console manufacturer servicing the handheld market and PC is starting to make headway into that space with the Steamdeck and ROG Ally.
*PC gamer... just updated to 4K/144Hz/GSync monitor*
I've got a new(ish) mid-tier PC. R9-3900x CPU. RTX4070 graphics card. I thought I'd get an XBox Series X in 2023. What a mistake. I still had a GTX1080 and thought for the price of a graphics card maybe just get a CONSOLE to supplement my gaming experience. SIGH...
I won't go into the details but I returned the XBSX and bought an RTX4070, then the gaming monitor. HOW do old/new games run?
Tested around 100 games from old to new. Getting 4K (or "4K" with DLSS Quality/Performance) in EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. At either max or near-max visual settings. And a lot of those I have locked to 90, 120 or 138FPS!!
(I honestly think I'll never go console again. VALVE is a large part of that as their work on Proton and the Steam Deck mean's it's getting easier for that type of UI. What's most likely is I'll end up in several years migrating to a LINUX based platform and run games in Big Picture Mode if I build a "console" for the living room. I'd love for Valve to make its own high-powered console/desktop PC. It's not necessary, but a known hardware configuration might help with Windows-> Linux migration as you can hammer out issues for that known hardware before expanding to other hardware. Maybe three tiers with the high-end comparable to: R7-9800X3D, 64GB shared memory, RTX5080 or whatever makes sense)

And may I also point out there are games from the game cube era That’s still hold up very well. Let that sink in.
While I agree with the grand majority of your criticisms I disagree at least partially with a couple of your conclusions, so here's my thoughts:
1: I think the 9th gen should last a bit longer and be used as a starting point on figuring out how to be more consumer friendly while remaining profitable, then use those baby steps as a foundation for the software end of the 10th console generation
2: There at least seems to be an implication that you think there's no longer any point in buying a new console, and I disagree with that notion in any case:
To me, consoles are systems bought and used to run games, where-as while PCs can run games extraordinarily well I don't think devices designed to do more than just run games should only be used for gaming. In my personal life, they fulfill similar but distinct niches;
My laptop can run games pretty well but I also bought it because of the features the model had to offer and spent more money so that it would be better at doing other tasks than other computers. With the PS5 I own I try to spend as little as possible;
I bought it used and only spend money on games that I think it would run meaningfully better on it than my laptop. If I had a full PC set up then I could use that instead but I like the advantages having a laptop instead gives me, and since I'd want a PC to be optimized for more than just gaming it wouldn't be the more affordable option anymore by the time I've decided on what type of computer I want to buy.
I have my own abundance of grievances with the current console gen but I still try to find a place for them in my life and want to see console gaming succeed, even if it's no longer the strongest force in it's market
Man, this console generation is hot garbage. I mostly play PS4 and Xbox 360 games on the new hardware.
I regret not grabbing a new gaming PC.
Sing for me more joey
All you need is a switch for portable play and PC for at home play. Like you said in the video, why would I buy a $600 console when I could just save a little more money for an $800 PC? Every game coming to both Xbox Series and Ps5 is coming to PC, except for like 2 Ps5 games that are probably gonna come over within a year. I got the Ps5 as my first PS. I bought it for $500 and already regret it because of the lack of exclusive software, so a $600 upgrade of a console not even worth $500 is gonna be a hard sell for a lot of people.I keep hearing that people will go out and buy a Ps5 or Series X just for GTA VI and how that’ll be the true start of the generation, but a lot of people would rather wait a year for it to come to PC than buy a $500 console with a paid online subscription, that has at most 4 years left of life
the most visually appealing game this gen was Hi-Fi Rush this gen for me, and the shut down the studio 💀
How to get everyone stuck on last gen consoles to upgrade to current gen consoles. Make a newer gen console so now you have gamers spread across 3 generations of consoles. Such a big brain idea. So smart. If that doesn't work make another console gen but for reals this time.
How to tell someone didn't experience gaming in the 90s, they sing a shi*ty improv song about "shi*ty" 90s game consoles. 90s consoles were amazing. 90s consoles were unbelievable compared to the cost of PCs at the time. But by all means, let's hear more, tell me why the 1st Playstation and the SNES were terrible, I'll wait :)
Cheapskates that refuse to upgrade to the new generation and subtly force developers to keep supporting their 11-year-old consoles are a big part of the problem. "$500 is too much, have you seen the economy?" If these complainers would've saved $2 per week since the launch of the Series X/PS5, they would've had more than enough to buy a current gen console. If someone can't save $2 a week, they need to find a different hobby, learn some budgeting skills, or get a real job.
I wouldn't expect developers to continue supporting 11-year-old PC hardware, why should the console tightwads expect them to support their ancient consoles? Upgrade or get left behind.
I wouldn't blame the consumer base here. It's the publishers whoaren'tt moving on that are the problem. Gamers go where the games are, but new games keep coming to last gen hardware, so there is no reason to upgrade right now. I think GTA 6 will be the big motivator for more consumers to move to current gen hardware, and hopefully, that will motivate other publishers to make current gen exclusive games.
Well too bad I am not going to starve myself just to get a more expensive console either reduce the price or get broke
Ps2, GameCube and Xbox to Wii, Ps3 and 360 where the best gen for great games and online ❤
I'm gunna pull my old man hat out. Back in the day you had console games and pc games with little overlap, so it made sense to have a console and a pc. Now 99% of games are multiplat with the pc. Why would I have a console when I can get damn near every game I want on pc?😅
How old?

I have a series S, and it’s honestly a lot more like the experience you were describing with buying consoles like the 360. It’s more expensive, but still below 300 USD retail price and is often sold for around 100-120$ used. While I haven’t used it for the new hyperrealistic games because they’re just not really my preferred style, it performs a hell of a lot better than my old pc did. It runs games like Ori, which used to tear up my pc, at a steady frame rate with decent frame rate, and it performs great with Elden Ring and pretty well with ASE (Ark is hilariously unoptimized on all platforms so “pretty well” here just means 60fps). From my limited experience, I’d just like to add on to the discussion with some pros and cons of console gaming.
PROS:
1: Xbox gamepass (for console and/or gamepass ultimate, base gamepass is a scam) is, in my opinion, well worth the price. The game selection is nice, with quite a few gems like hollow knight, dead cells, and both Ori games; plus a few more expensive games like Ark and Sea of thieves. It also has encouraged me to try out a few really great games that I probably wouldn’t have tried otherwise, like The Last Case of Benedict Fox, Roboquest, and Tunic.
2: This might just be personal preference, but I like to keep my games separate from my work. Having a device devoted solely to games allows me to keep my work computer free of their added clutter, while also using less processing power and storage on the console.
3: Console gaming is vastly more accessible than PC. Hardware wise, PCs require home assembly, keeping track of various parts, constantly replacing smaller bits of hardware, and generally need a lot more maintenance than consoles. On the software side, consoles are as simple as you get, and while PCs aren’t exactly hyper complicated, that added layer of simplicity gives consoles the edge on accessibility too. Also, when you consider prices, consoles definitely still have an edge, although I do agree that they really need to go back towards their original purpose as a cheaper alternative.
CONS:
1: Subscription multiplayer is flat out stupid. Paying an additional price to access a feature of a game which you already bought is a complete scam.
2: No mods, and generally less capacity for improving the software or hardware.
3: If you’re willing to spend more than around 1000 USD, PC is objectively better in pretty much every way.
TLDR console is still more accessible, but PC has more possibilities.
No amount of performance or customization options would make me switch to pc and deal with the hassle of it... yeah I just bought a new game let me spend 35 minutes tweaking everything and still have it crash... or dealing with the common occurrence of awful ports
Tell us you have no first-hand pc experience without telling us you have no first-hand pc experience.
Dude why lie just admit you never used a pc
This is literally something only non-pc gamers say, if you have a good pc games won’t crash, that’s how that works. Also, you literally don’t have to tweak with anything if you don’t want to, it’s just given to you, it’s an *option*, it’s not gonna break your computer if you don’t mess with *options*. Also, it’s uncommon for pc ports to have terrible optimization, it’s just that there’s been a lot of multi platform games with bad optimization period within recent years, and then again the pc version still runs better than the consoles, especially since you aren’t limited to a locked 60fps, I’m not counting 120fps because the amount of game support for that is so limited. The last terrible pc port of a game I can think of was The Last of Us Part 1, but before that, when was the last time there was a horrific pc port as bad as that and was exclusive to the consoles or a console beforehand? Years ago?
I feel vindicated going to a steam deck
There has never been a buyback program from Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo ever, at least to my knowledge. I dont know what your and your bf are going on about
The ultimate Spider-Man stuff is finicky. I just went back to look at it and it’s like. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I mean the complex style is genuinely really good. It’s just in animation it kind of just looks a bit bizarre all the exaggerated movements constant clipping. I mean it looks good. I guess if it’s standing still just. Aaaaaaaaaaa……
Joe you rock bro love the channel
Canadien here and pc gamer, a friend asked me to help him build a 800-1000 gaming pc (CAD$) told him, he wants to play stuff like starfield (yeah i dont get it) told im under 1200$ would be hard to get games like that to run in full HD. So when you say mid tier pc price will equal ps5 pro, yeah not here, you get a low tier pc for that price. To me the 200$ more to start at 1200$ is better then a console if you wanna go to pc, but new pc part are expensive AF now a days, not getting more affordable compared to pre covid
This console generation might be shorter.
I'm fine with this gen. I have a series x and I'll use it for a long time. Sure it was expensive but I don't see myself upgrading again any time soon. So it makes it more worth while.
Alot of games are cross gen because last gen still has alot of active users that will still buy new games.
I switched to pc gaming in 2018 at first i didn't like it because i was a trophy hunter at that time but after a year or so i began to see why pc gaming is THE BEST now i sold all my consoles (ps5/4) and NEVER EVER looked back
Sorery, but the most things you rant about isn't concole specific... yes... games become more expensive, dev time becomes longer, games are buggy... but that's a game publisher/developer problem that has nothing to do with consoles specifically. PC ports get worse as well. Can we do more on PC to fix issues... sure... we have mods. But that's not the point. The whole AAA industry is in a crisis. The console crisis is only partr of it. Of course a luxury segment like gaming can't grow that much after the boom in the pandemic and the exploding inflkation between 2022 and 2024 due to the escalation in Ukraine. I preach a crisis would come since 2016... game dev budgets grow much faster than the number of players acros all platforms. This fact is weell known for more than two decades. And Microisoft cancelling exclusivity should have told everybody that things will get worse.
*PS5 PRO rant...*
AFAIK, the CPU in the new PS5 Pro is the same with a very small uptick in CPU processing power. Why does that matter? Because a lot of the games are CPU bound (or would be if you tried to run them at 60FPS thus WHY they are locked to 30FPS). So if you think the "PRO" is going to get you from 30FPS to 60FPS in games that are already locked to 30FPS then you may be in for a surprise... as "JoeFromSeattle" said in a different video, if you're thinking about the PS5 PRO maybe at that point build a gaming PC?
I left around the same time in 2017 because Sony started censoring thier games and saw that Pc had way way better discounts, free online, can play 98% of games from all time and more powerful 😊❤ can i love it
I still have all my retro consoles all 22 of them and play them from time to time but still see no reason to get a current consoles since i get all the games and have a Switch, Steam Deck and Legion go and mostly every handheld
Got a 3080 and 5700x3d
What's a Legion? I know of the Steam Deck (That I can't afford to get), but not the first one I mentioned.
@MLPIceberg the Legion Go is a handheld pc similar to the Steam Deck, and it is more powerful than the Steam Deck, but it is more expensive and runs windows.
Windows runs fine on the Go but the main issue I have with the Steam Deck is anti cheat games don't run on the Steam deck or they need tinkering to run it and any game outside of the Steam app needs tinkering or 3rd party software like Gog games, Ubisoft, Epic and etc. Some MMOs need tinkering, too, like FF14. If you have a Square account version
we geing the ps6 with this one
Honestly, I agree with you, this gen has been super boring to me and I too am tried of looking at realistic-looking graphics in many AAA games. Hopefully, when this gen ends someone slaps Sony and Mircosoft in the face along with all the high-end 3rd party devs making them come to their senses which causes some of them to at least try to make cartoony, or comic book-looking games again.
Ultimate Spiderman is great

Adjusted for inflation, the price of consoles and games hasn't really changed at all. In fact, full price games are actually cheaper nowadays. I do not get why you're so obsessed with the cost of these things.
The hell they arent cheaper maybe in the 90s they were more expensive but just 5 to years ago the consoles and the games were cheaper and with inflation making everything more expensive it means I am less likely to waste money on games
@jd2792 games have been 50-60 dollars for over 30 years. This 10 dollar increase was bound to happen. Plus, it doesn't matter because games are usually half the price a year after they release.
I dont disagree with any of this, but I am at least very glad that cross play, cross save, and even to an extent cross buy has become a thing with consoles now.
Now I can play with friends on consoles, instead of beeing forced to buy all 3 consoles!
Unfortunately public companies are legally not allowed to not attempt to maximize profits by the upmost by every qtr & this is in essence the core driver for game studios to give in to the DEI guaranteed profit option vs the effort & risk. Public traded companies, by law, are required to do everything they can to make more $ in the next qtr than they did the previous; This means they are required to constantly grow always & forever. Now you know why the first companies that you see caving to DEI & or loot boxes/battle passes were the oldest, because you can only grow so fast for so long until you level out or fall for a bit.
Younger companies have the opportunity to stay private because they have room & potential for maximum growth.
It all comes back to our fake currency system & the fake stock market, every issue we are dealing with be it entertainment to political/economical is linked to the federal reserve/central or fraction reserve banking. Being required by law to constantly grow & make profit simply because people are choosing to bet on you is stupid. The only law around that should be public companies are not allowed to purposely fail, not to constantly grow, leading them into a corner & eventually pressuring them to make scummy business practices in order to simply make profit.
I can’t honestly blame companies for cutting edges at every corner to make profit in every choice & decision when it is illegal not to.
i recently bought a ps5 and last year i bought a series x. i think im going to sell both of them to get a pc. i already have a steam deck, so i already have a library to play. and my gamepass ultimate will work on pc… i was really disappointed with this console and i was finding myself playing on my xbox one and i was getting the exact same experience.
