So, let me understand this. If you think Newcastle “failed to handle champions league” last season… and finished seventh….. and you both have them at 7th or 8th this season….. how exactly would they have failed last season then?
Expecting them to do worse than last season with no European competitions for everyone to get annihilated through match congestion makes no sense.

What signings have been made this summer that legitimately strengthen the side ?
@@jacobhorsfall it wasn’t an argument I made, it was a statement. You keep believing they haven’t strengthened, third top scorers last season with an injury ravaged squad and those injured players like Pope, Willock, Botman are returning or have during preseason and of course Tonali is available from 27/8. Canny season ahead for Newcastle
@@jacobhorsfall they had to finish last season with 5 players from the championship squad in 2016-17. They were T-1 in GA with Arsenal when Nick Pope played. They were 20th in GA after he got hurt v Man United. They played >50% of the season with 1/3 of their first choice midfield three. Emil Krafth was starting at CB for 8 games. Trippier was leading the league in assists before missing nearly the entire final 3 months of the season.
There is absolutely no reason to think they’re going to do worse than last season unless you believe they replicate injuries. They basically lost everyone except for Gordon, Isak, and Guimaraes. They were awful, and somehow finished 7th with a squad that probably was good enough for 14th. They do not have the match congestion to lose all these bodies again. They had to play matches with Three GK’s on the bench.
My issue was the statement about “failing to handle champions league.” If you think their ceiling is 7th-8th as is… then how exactly did they fail last season if the whole team died and they still finished 7th.
EDIT: to clarify. Youre main point against them is their window is ass. Which, sure, when you already didn’t have your first choice squad for a majority of the year after October, then the room for improvement is already massive as is……. Crystal Palace lost their best attacking threat, risk losing their best defender, and, their first choice striker is currently in Paris and probably going to start the season late….. and yet they’re going to finish above Newcastle because they bought Kamada and Sarr….? Teams are now exposed to Glasner tactics they’ll have a much tougher time

Your Newcastle take is absolutely horrendous. Finished 7th last season with worst injury record in Premier League and Champions League to contend with.
No Europe this season, Tonali available and big signings to come in at RW and CB and you have them at 9th!?

Had them injuries and didn’t have the depth because of a poor window. As of right now it’s yet another poor window for Newcastle

It's not a stagnant situation though, Newcastle will be improving but so will everyone else

Newcastle aren't finishing 9th lmao. We finished 7th with half our squad missing and had one of the best attacks in the league despite that. Had Nick Pope alone not got injured we probably would've challenged for UCL again last season never mind this year. Certainly aren't finishing below Man Utd under Ten Hag or Palace. Even Spurs I struggle to see how Archie Gray is gonna transform them.

@@jacobhorsfall Our depth is better than when we literally got top four in 22/23 and we've got no European football. Spurs have hardly improved, Liverpool haven't, Chelsea if anything have regressed and Man Utd have Ten Hag. The only team around us who've potentially improved is Villa, and even then they've lost Luiz and have UCL to contend with. Let's not take the mickey here.

Before I watch the video I assume that you will put Southampton in the relegation places. But I'm curious to think how much of a fight we'll able to give in staying up will it be close or will we be more around where Burnley ended up?
What's this crap about if Villa have a tough group?in the champions league? There's no groups in the UCL next season, it's a completely different format & starts off with one big league till the last 16, beforehand every club plays 8 games of 4 home/4 away & consist of 2 clubs picked from 4 pots of different seeded clubs ie-4×2=8. The top 8 go through automatically & 9-24 have a home & away play offf with the winners of those 2 legged ties going on to make up the last 16,the clubs below 24th place in the league go out & don't drop down to the europa league. The same format applies too the europa league , research lads,eh?.... up the mighty Villa!!! 😊

A man who's won two trophies as a manager in his whole managerial career in a league that my granny could win as a manager? ....
