I do not believe they’re still throwing out this “he won two cups” excuse. It’s one thing for Ten Hag to do it in self-defense, but for Keane and Neville to do it is pathetic.
That is ultimately the manager's job though, to win trophies. Granted, he's not won the big trophies, but the point is compared to previous managers - and most managers in the league - he has won 2 trophies in 2 seasons.
No one, including the lads on the podcast, are saying that means he's doing a good job. But it's a better defence than most managers have when they are under pressure.
Really? I wish my team had won two cups in two seasons. It’s all relative and about expectations.
@@2amBreakfast Sorry, I'm pretty sure only one manager failed to win a trophy since fergie no? Just ole. Mou won three in one season including the one that ten hag is being lauded for winning

"Arteta should be sent off every week." - Roy Keane
Arteta runs about copying his last boss thinking it would help him and arsenal win the league all because pep done that
Arteta got more yellow cards than Keane and Viera combined. Guy is a looney
It is so annoying it doesn't get picked up on more. His technical area is like a 5 a side pitch as well and he still can't stay inside it 😂
Then the way people talk about him and pep kicking every ball bla bla....you cant see whats happening if your're constantly screaming at players or the ref, linesmen etc. Let the players play ffs. Must be distracting if you are on that side. Throw ins etc, pointing where to throw. Cringey. When a player misses a chance Pep is on his knees, head in hands. At least klopp wud clap or thumbs up. The one time you might want him on the line is when opposition scores, then he sits down n sticks a bottle of water in his mouth😂.
It's true.
they missed a golden opportunity for keano’s fragrance to be called “The RED Mist”
Roy is spot on this episode. Players need to be able to recognize situations and adapt to them as well. It's easy to blame the manager for every decision on the pitch but even Mourinho said as a manager you can't think FOR a player. There has to be some sort of tactical intelligence & momentum from players themselves.
Roy says that because his tactical knowledge is limited. Yes players are responsible, but systems win games for a reason
@@lucioledizerot196 exactly. These days players MUST play to the system or they will be dropped. It's not about adapting or reacting, it's the polar opposite of that. In any given situation, player A has to be in area B, which is pre-designated by the coach. They work for hours on this in training.
@@nxt1990 if that were the case you'd just get a bunch of talented individuals and throw them onto the pitch. There's a reason why tactics evolved, it was so lesser talented teams could beat better ones. Examples of this are the likes of Jordan Henderson - you noticed him when he wasn't there rather than when he was. He fitted Klopp's system perfectly because he was player A in area B, every time.
He doesn't say that just to excuse the manager lmao
Ten Hag said before that match that the only manager more successful than him ( in the last 2 years by the way ) is Pep Guardiola, that is , at its best , pure arrogance , and at it's worse , delusion .
Casemiro is the true definition of " you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself as a villain".
Good point
Really a full hour of analysis..and you come up with that ??
ETH bad tactics put his players at a disadvantage the whole game .
Arne slot literally told everyone how easy it was to exploit man utd game plan.

Does Gary still think Man Utd have the better midfield compared to Liverpool?😊
I think Endo, Elliot and jones would dominate this Utd midfield
“Seen a polar bear over there with a jacket on” 😂😂😂😂😂
Unreal

I love that Roy doesn’t blame the manager, he gives all the responsibility to the players. The players play.
Jamie carragher understands football at an extremely high level, definitely the best analyst of the game in punditry today
They've 100% been on the pints before this 😂
Post pint fatigue
Roy is proof of that😂
😅😅😅
Surely not, I couldn't be out on the lash and then go and sit down with a cup of tea and biscuits. Absolute mood killer.
Thought too haha
Arne Slot has given every team now the instructions to beat Utd because Ten Hag doesnt change anything.
I'm not sure they need any help to beat United.
Was the advice ‘turn up’?
Every manager knows how to counter tactics but how to execute them and the quality of players makes the difference. United players have to start executing their game plan without making stupid mistakes every 5 minutes or they will lose regardless of tactics
Wolves ran through that team first game of the season last season, it’s not a new thing, Liverpool ran through them every game last season, but were hopeless when they got to Utd penalty area, near enough every team ran through them, 14 losses
No your right, ten hag isn't elite level. He sets his team out and sees his team getting thrashed and doesn't change the tactics. That's the definition of stupid. Fair play he's had one or 2 good games to win a couple of cups. But in general united aren't just poor, they aren't even entertaining 😂
On the topic of Casemiro, this is exactly why Toni Kroos said he wanted to retire...so he would be remembered still playing at his best level. Sad to see.
He will be remembered as a great as long as he stays away from Manchester United 😂😂
Casemiro was never a great lol he was carried by that Madrid midfield. Stick any random 6 into that team and they would’ve still won all those games. Same thing with Carvajal, two incredibly average but serviceable players
Casemiro has always suckd
this view that casemiro is a poor player now is so misinformed, he's poorly managed that's all
Casemiro was the best destroyer 6 in the world at the time, football fans have short memories. The amount of dog work he did for kroos and modric was insane
@ 4:17 I'm Dutch, living in Amsterdam:
To pronounce the Dutch surname "Slot" correctly in English, the "o" should be a short sound, similar to the vowel in the English words "hot" or "lot" (but not as drawn out as the "o" in "boat").
Phonetically, it would look like:
/slɔt/
Here's the breakdown:
The "S" is pronounced the same as in the word "sit".
The "l" is also the same as in "lot".
The "o" is a short, open vowel sound, like in the Dutch word "gôh", similar to the "o" in the English "hot" or "not".
The "t" is pronounced clearly, just like the "t" in "top".
So, "Slot" should sound like "Slot", with a short "o", not "Sloat" or "Slut". peace out....
I really hope people actually understand what Carra said - United can’t ever play a 3-man midfield because Bruno Fernandes does not have the positional discipline required. Sometimes you have to move away from your best players if they are disruptive to the system
"Liverpool would swap their midfield for Uniteds"

My only problem is exactly what Wrighty said. United's offensive third isn't threatening enough or good enough to beat most defenses consistently enough in comparison to most prem teams.
I'm a big believer in possession based football. But possession WITH purpose.
Pep himself said he doesn't like "tiki taka" (keeping the ball for the sake of it)
As Carra said, possession around the back is essentially about baiting the press and making space

44:45 It is amazing how Poch always gets mentioned, sometimes alongside Pep and Klopp. No doubt he did a good job at Spurs but it's way overstated. He then lost the league at PSG to Lille and didn't exactly succeed at Chelsea
It's contextual. What have Spurs done before or since Poch that was/is anywhere close to what he did?
@adame636 poch as in Chelsea mate not spurs😊

Poor Gary, his understanding of football hasn't evolved since the Fergie days and that is why he is such was such miserable manager and clueless tactician. :P
Roy’s right about Casemiro. Shouldn’t write a player off at 29 when he signed.
“His legs have gone” say some ppl. He’s never had any legs! Real Madrid had a better structure and legs around him and in turn his strengths helped them. United have the worst case scenario, no structure and a slow player. He had a bad game that’s it. He had a bad season last year, no doubt, but season before he was great.
You know things are bleak at a losing club when they start blaming the pitch.
Eh you remember the stadium in the rain last season?
The way Neville completely disregarded Liverpool’s midfield and claimed that United’s is better is hilarious. Mount is useless and has been for a few years, Fernades is the most petulant player in the league, Casemiro and Eriksen are way past it and Mainoo hasn’t even played 30 league games yet. None of those players get into Liverpool’s midfield ahead of Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, and Gravenberch. Thats a fact.
It’s because Liverpool players , midfield especially, aren’t the biggest personalities. They just quietly go about their business and guarantee 7/10 , 8/10 performances consistently. Bruno will stink it up for 3 games and have 1 10/10 game.

I do admire city winning games, but they are truly boring to watch. Liverpool are fantastic watch and that’s why they get most 12:30 kick off as tv stations always want them
27:20 I agreed with Wrighty the setup of the team and with Carragher that Bruno’s positional discipline are part of the reasons that affect Casimero’s bad performance on the pitch as a holding midfielder. We saw from the three matches before the one against Liverpool that as long as there are runners (eg Mount) alongside Casimero, he can play a good role for the team. But Mount was not playing against Liverpool, and everything changed for the worst. One solution would be to play a midfield diamond with Bruno or Erikssen at the tip (as 10) and Casimero at the base. Along the left and right of the diamond, Mainoo, Ugarte, Collyer, Mount when he comes back, and even Anthony. This can let Bruno to be more attacking minded and our forward players (Rashford, Garnacho, Amad, Zirksee) to focus on being more effective on the last third of the field.
Carragher needs to show up at least once when Liverpool lose. Its very easy to show up when you're winning
