On week 5 of my Coursera Google DA cert course - after 1 week. I’m finding myself extremely excited and also learning so much! One is that I definitely appreciate Excel more so than GoogleSheets. But I’m so excited to try my hand at both. Thank you so much!

Omg, so glad I found your videos. They are EXACTLY what I needed for questions I've been having. Praying you see my last comment on working completely remotely and I can get your feedback on that or maybe a direction on where to go (who to ask?) to make sure I can get a job as a Data Analyst that is completely remote and will allow me to work outside the US before I continue to pursue it too much more. Thanks Alex, I’ve been looking through various courses to learn data analytics for current job as biologist with the goal to get away from it. I no longer like where I work. Google has been on my RADAR so I’lol lock that in. Then the SQL, Python, Tableau.
I watched one of your older videos about the Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate and I've started it recently. I am really liking how it started. I have very minimal experience and its such a great building block into Data Analytics. I'm glad it's still included in your list now! I agree - it's great for people to grasp a lot of the fundamental concepts! I think after that you just focus more on the individual skills and go from there!

So I finished the first course on Google Data Analytics Specialization, and unlike everyone else, I don't feel hopeful about it. Hopefully, that changes once I'm done with a few more. As a side note, I followed your SQL basics playlist, and for the first time, it made sense. I tried learning SQL on DataCamp before but did not get it. But with your videos, I did. I'm so tempted to ignore Coursera and just stick with you.

I'm surprised to hear you say you'll find more jobs with Tableau. I've found more jobs with power bi myself. But maybe that has a geographic element to it? Microsoft is very integrated here. Learning both is even better of course :D
Power BI is doing a really good job of getting market share in recent years so if you can learn both even better!
Yeah, I agree it’s the safest bet to learn both. I’m a business analytics student and my university incorporates Tableau, but I have been finding myself having to learn PowerBI as well because while Tableau is certainly in demand where I live, there are also a lot employers in my area that want PowerBI.

This is cool and very helpful. I'd like to see an update for 2024. For instance, could you replace IBM Data Analytics with the Google Advanced Data Analytics and the Business Intelligence course? I've just started my journey into analytics with the Digital marketing course and now the Google Analytics course. Followed by the advanced Analytics and Business Intelligence when I get to it.

Hi Alex, do you think taking Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate alongside Python for Data Science and Machine Learning Bootcamp in Udemy would work as good as (or better than) taking IBM Data Analyst Professional Certificate alone?
As of now, I want to learn Python as my current company uses it sometimes (I work with data quite often, and now want to transition to Data Analyst).
And I already have the basics with SQL and Tableau, but of course, I would like to learn these skills further as well as get a certificate.
Also the first option would help saving a lot of costs.
DO NOT TAKE THE SQL SPECIALIZATION AT 4:35!
The first course is ok; its actually a great bigger course.
However, the second course uses a dataset that has been updated and does NOT match the instructor's dataset! All the correct answers you get will not match the instructors so how can you learn or test different methods? I went to the discussion forum and people have been complaining about this for TWO YEARS and they STILL have not corrected the issue.
I have not completed the that course or continued the specialization.

This video has helped me a lot in figuring out how to break into a different career field than my current one. I plan on taking all of these courses and I was wondering in what order would you suggest taking them?
If you’re truly beginner in this field, the google is gonna be the best option to start. IBM is like for more intermediate level analysts and might be quite challenging for beginners. Now I’m on course 2 (Google data analytics) and I really enjoy it.

Hi Alex! I have been following your channel, and have made some moves out of a management role in Admin where I dabbled in some reporting and started to explore a career shift. I am following along with your videos to see what exactly the path I should take is, but with very little experience, im wondering if there are some things you would suggest I do before taking the journey through the courses in this video.
Knowing the Google cert is for beginners, I am just thinking there may be some intermediate or advanced excel, or maybe some intro to SQL/Python or Tableau... or maybe that really is not necessary?

Hello Alex. Hope you doing well. I am in need to change the career because of multiple reason. I am looking towards the Data Analyst. But the question I have is, I am located in very small town of NM. I guess there will be very less entry level opportunity in nearby area. And relocation is not an option for me. If I am looking towards the remote opportunity, Will Data Analyst is good choice?
I wish the IBM one was included in Coursera Plus, but none of the IBM courses are, unfortunately. I had most of these bookmarked already but added the last one for Tableau. I decided getting the Plus was the better option since I completed the Google Data Analytics in just over 4 weeks. I figure it'd be a waste of money to end up paying for a second entire month if I finish in 5 -6 weeks.
There is a Tableau Business Intelligence Analyst one too that looks like it will be fun to learn.

Alex, when you get to the last course in the Google Data analytics certificate are you going to do a video of yourself completing a capstone project? I think it's going to be very helpful for people who are stuck somewhere in the project.

I am currently doing a course of data analytics from data camp what do you think about it?
I am an Intelligence Analyst in the Army. My job is to take information about threats, collate It, analyse it to develop predictive and deductive assessments to facilitate decision making. I have recently had the pleasure of managing a team which included a couple of civilian data analysts. I was thoroughly impressed by how these guys improved our overall threat analysis. That got me interested in learning these skills myself (also because the army pays very little at my rank). I don't have a degree, but I still want to learn data analytics. Thank you for this channel. I will be viewing all your content to help me on my (possible) journey.

I have a question that most of the tools like SQL and Tableau are done on a cloud platform in Google Analytics course. In real projects, do we use the tools on a Cloud or on a desktop? Secondly, how should one go about installing the SQL? I think there should be emphasis on the installation part as well. Anybody?

It's a 2 yr program
Higher fees but co op

Very interesting recommendations. When you said you did them twice, you mean you repeated the course after you finish the first time? How can you find enough time?
Yes, I did them through to make sure I learned everything. I did some back when I was first starting out and only had one kid. It was a simpler time with much more time on my hands lol
