- It was a beautiful June afternoon so was an ideal time to give the bike a long range test. I started in Chiltern Hills near Aylesbury and cycled across three counties and came back via the Grand Union canal at Puttenham, near Tring.

Hi there Karl question did you de-restrict that bike it seems to be going awfully fast for a standard out of the box bike.
Very smooth without any degrading of speed as do the out of the box cubes do.
I think someone at cube forgot to reduce the speed settings on yours because there is no way you were travelling at 15mph.
The motor is restricted at factory to meet UK laws.
You should be feeling a cut off when you reach maximum speed.
Which is 15mph I could not see any evidence of that just smooth stable speed.
That is normally only achieved on a de-restricted bike with a bosch engine.
The bike is as it came from the shop brand new. I've done nothing to it. Actually these bikes can go faster than 15.5mph, just like any normal bike if you pedal harder or go downhill.
@@KarlVaughan do you get much drag from the motor when pedalling unassisted over 15.5 mph?
Cheers 👍
Hi Karl, what mode did you ride the bike? Thanks
I use Tour+ mostly when on the roads.
Great video and can I ask what watt motor you are running please seems very quick?
Thanks. It's just a standard 250W motor. The Bosch system is very good apparently.
@@KarlVaughanI’ve heard they are a very powerful motor, I’m waiting on a delivery for a orange phase s 2024 with a shimano ep8 250w motor 85nm, I don’t think they are as powerful as bosch and what sort of speeds was you getting in this video, I thought it was derestrict tbh.
I imagine your new bike will be much the same, as the torque is also 85nm on mine. My bike doesn't need to be derestricted as it's powerful enough as it is. I've tried it on a number of hills in my area and have been very happy with its performance. I hope you'll be happy with your new bike.
@@KarlVaughan yes I would of thought so and derestricting them can also void you’re warranty and increased loads for motors and batteries, so really not necessary and thank you, I’m sure I will as it will be my first e-bike.
I've been hanging on till I got a chance to sit and watch this on my TV (can't waste all those lovely 4K pixels!). Was well worth the wait! Excellent.
The old car at the beginning wasn't an MG. It was a Triumph TR250 (the American spec version of the TR5). Odd that it's in the UK AND RHD... But I'm no car expert so maybe it's always been here!
The two twonks passing in the narrow part of the road (who also appear in your latest driving fail video) - I just don't get why the Swift didn't simply reverse a few feet to where the road was wider.🙄Maybe if they looked past the end of their short bonnet (I owned a Swift, so I KNOW), they might be able to act before issues instead of reacting when they happen?!!
I could wax on for hours about my delight in seeing all the places I used to know back in the 80s and 90s - and a few I didn't). But it's far easier to thank you for taking us with you on your ride. Thanks Karl!👍
A TR250 eh? Well, I never would have guessed that. I particularly liked the E-Type later on. That looked immaculate.
