    Nice video. Not seen the viaduct before. Gone past those bridge abbutments many times on my home delivery rounds, over the years. I think there are more if you turn the other way, left, onto the Lenborough Rd, rather than right to the A413. You really need to go on the Buckingham railway walk. And see some of the remaining structures on the way to Radclive and Fulwell. Sadly, they took out the bridge abbutments at Water Stratford recently.

      @tingewickmax Thanks for watching. I've been looking elsewhere up and down the line for more relics. Radclive looks good so I may go there at some point.

      @@KarlVaughan Buckingham has a couple of great viaducts. The railway walk is wonderful. At school in the 90's, everyone called a section of it the yellow brick road lol.

    Nice work man 🎉🎉
    I agree that old railway relics are interesting, I can’t help but think about all the effort and skill that went into building them and then 1960’s politics and so much of it was left to rot.
    Sad 😢

      @chrisgreen8803 From reading up about it I understand that the Banbury line was in decline long before the 1960s but you're right, a lot of effort went into the construction of these railways. All those cuttings, embankments and bridges. Some of these men died whilst working on it. I read of some poor young chap losing his life a bit further up the line due to a massive landslip. He was crushed by the earth. I think that is why I find these relics eerie. It's the men who built them that I think of.

    What a great episode Karl, for all kinds of reasons. Firstly there was the weird pattern in the field top left, in the drone shots of the railway centre. Also , as you mentioned so many attractive buildings plus the iconic windmill in Quainton. Having such a clear winter sun day really showed up the topography in the drone shots, especially the medieval strip system in the field beyond the viaduct. Thanks again.

      @johnmay2786 I flew over a few other villages on the way which also had ridge and furrow showing up beautifully. I noticed by the viaduct how the ridge and furrow ends abruptly by the river. I would love to see the section close up. I bet there's a few medieval pot sherds in amongst that soil. It was a lovely ride, just a bit cold and windy!

      The weird pattern is from the cyclocross race that Claydon Cycling Club hosted a few days before. th-cam.com/video/hRrQnO6B-Ww/w-d-xo.htmlsi=W1VNQJaMdBIdDQD4

    Do you think the new cycle way will be maintained or neglected as seems the norm for Bucks?

    • @KarlVaughan
      @KarlVaughan  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @timeast6412 I really don't know about that. I only discovered this cycleway shortly before doing the ride.

      @ I only mentioned this because there are many Bridleways in the area that make lovely off road links however,they often have bad bits which need TLC.I have contacted Bucks cc about this but in vain so far.

      @KarlVaughan They spent a lot of money rebuilding and upgrading that cycleway, about 10-12 years ago.

      @tingewickmax Looks like money well spent as the condition is very good. A total contrast to the rush job done on the A418 Oxford Road outside Aylesbury. That will not last 10 years!

    Great video - shame you didn't stop and show the mushroom.....

      @tonytcook Thanks for watching. What mushroom is that?

    • @tonytcook
      @tonytcook หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@KarlVaughan The thatched tree in East Claydon. The mushroom club in the village hall is named after it. (I assume it is still there?)

      @tonytcook Oh I see. I don't know of it as I've probably only been through the village a couple of times in my life.
