    Those were definitely some great finds. The one thing I’d caution people on is not using the bike beyond its intended purpose. Most of those are MTB style bikes not meant to be ridden on dirt. I’ve actually seen one fall apart on a ride and it was kind of scary.

    Nice video and MTB costs can sure add up Evan. I'm not sure if those shoes would be great with the massive logo on the bottom? I'd also wonder if new riders would be better off buying a bike shop bike to get some advice during purchase and possibly get some gear included the cost. These videos by youtubers are the extremes, super cheap options in some and then very expensive /unreachable for most at the other. Not too much on just ordinary reliable options (although I understand this is probably boring as the bikes just work as expected).
    I do love riding and whatever gets you going.

    Great advice, I used to BMX as a kid and bought a Trek Marlin 6 without thinking about the fact that I was already past that point in my progression of riding. Sure i hadn't really rode a bike hardly at all in 20 years but all of the skills were still there and I am wanting to ride trails that are honestly just dangerous on a hard tail because the chunk throws the rear tire in the air without suspension and you can't manual through it because the chunk is always in a super deep braking section right before a sharp 90 degree or a switch back. The trail closest to my house requires a very high level of skill, I would say the greens are realistically blues and the blues are blacks and the actual blacks feel like you are doing stuff that is too dangerous for people at Whistler. I really regret not saving more money and buying a full suspension from the start, instead I have to spend twice. The only positive of this is I have a bike I can ride around paved bike trails even though it isn't that great at that either as it is a 1x drive train without enough gears and I need to switch tires for lower rolling resistance.

It’s not a cheap sport, and making it cheap is dangerous. If you’re someone who is really on a budget, take Evan’s word to heart and just rent a bike for a day. You get a much better bike for cheaper and get to see just how much you like the sport, as well as what a quality product actually can do. No one can have fun if you’re taking a detour to the ER.

    I picked up that Schwinn Taff Comp deal too. It's pretty good for the price and it is at least upgradable with higher quality parts. Mine had some big issues, the biggest being the dish of the rear wheel. By the end of a 2 mile loop it was rubbing against the chainstay. However, a few minutes with a spoke wrench and it was better. Still, the repairs this bike needs out of the box and it may not be the best choice for a beginner.

    Na, I draw the line at fooker pedals. Just save $20 more, be patient and buy RaceFace Chesters...don't support knockoffs. For this challenge specifically though, I accept them.

    its very possible to start mountain biking, i started with less than 200 dollars and i have a really good setup. I have a hyper 27 inch bike from walmart (it has a bit of a stiff frontal suspension and also suspension in the middle of the bike), a 20 dollar helmet thats durable and a 3 dollar bike lock which is useful if you live in an apartment building or take your mountain bike to school. for an extra 20 to 30 dollars you could get shin and elbow pads if you want it

    Telling from experience, you don't need the most money to start mountain biking, I got a decathlon rockrider for 200 bucks and as long as youre skilled enough at what you're doing, it's more than enough

    Great point dude. When I was in my teens I did dirt jump, race, and a lil flat land . Skills came back rather quick while riding the Axum. Already looking for a upgrade lol. Been about 2 months . On point my man.

      @@EvansMTBSaga oh yeah. You are most welcome. I'm thinking about upgrades but I'll probably out grow that as well. I believe my next Mtb will be a 27.5 I find them easier to throw around. 29ers seem a bit unwieldy. But maybe that's just me.

    I think a good upgrade would be upgrading the brakes to oil brakes like shimano mt200

    It's kind of crazy to think about how much bikes cost nowadays. He made it seem like it was almost impossible to get a super budget bike, which is kind of true.

    • @EvansMTBSaga
      @EvansMTBSaga  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have a hunch that people think that just because a bike has a suspension fork, a frame, and wheels, that it's the same as a $3000 hardtail. Like they actually believe that, but this Schwinn and other budget bikes aren't made to ride aggressively. They're for starting out and the parts really aren't made to last.

    That was impressive granted I went with a used trek Marlin I think almost 6 years ago to start out and found out I actually love mtb. But that was my gateway bike and I now I’ve upgraded but I keep it pretty simple and don’t go overboard. I actually ride my bike and it’s not a carpet queen. But yes you usually get what you pay for but you don’t need thousands of dollars to have fun

    Give a Filipino cyclist $300 and they'll probably get a very good bike, $300 usd in Philippine pesos is 16k php, they could probably already buy a bike for 13k php, 1k php for helmet and that's all you need

    In norway this would be the easiest challange. cause we have a website called "Finn.no" Witch there are some full suspention bikes for like 20 dollars. like ok theyre not the best bikes BUT It will get you down the bountian. if you add me on discord i can even show proof :D

    Less is more.... We all know what it looks like to walk in and out of Walmart.... I feel like 1/3 of this vid was walking in or out of Walmart. So if walking in and out of Walmart is what you're looking for then this walking in and out of Walmart video is great. I don't think I can say walking in and out of Walmart as many times as you showed it. All jokes aside... Good video .. except for the walking in and out of Walmart part.
