I put this comment on an older vlog but just wanted to say it again. I think y’all should go to grocery or convenience stores and purchase a few pre packaged snacks and do your own Munch box segment on some of the cruises like this one so we can see what the locals eat. JMO!
Yesssss, we’ve thought about that but we were worried about suitcase space… but I suppose we could try to record the episode before leaving that particular ship. Problem solved!! :P
I love to pause the video on the dinner menu and guess what you are going to choose to eat. Today I knew Jay was going to get the beef with goat cheese, lol!
Thank you for taking us along with you on that walk very long walk to the park and the bus of all if I said it right looks so good but of course I would have to share it. I couldn’t eat it all.❤🛳️🦩⚓️
"This is the place where pacifiers go to die. Or at least, it is the place they are offered up to the tree, in one of the first ritualised rites of passage for children of Denmark. The pacifiers are given to the tree at the moment when parents consider a child too old"
@08:25 The currency is the danish krone but the banknotes are printed specifically for the Faroes. They have the same value and in theory can used in Denmark as they are legal currency. The problem is that most people in Denmark do not know about this and just refuse to accept the notes even though they are legally required to accept them.
We do an end-of-year wrap-up each year in a livestream, but I don’t think we’ve ever included total countries. We’ve got a spreadsheet going though, and we might need to add that!! :P
It seemed like this video had a lot of superfluous commentary, that really didn't add anything. Not every second of video requires commentary. It's okay to just let the scenery and the views do the talking from time to time 🙂
@@michellelyon3149 Now, don't get me wrong I like the commentary too. But there are times when it's okay to let the pictures do the talking, like the nature walks. Those need minimal if any commentary; the nature can do the talking. A good example is the duck at 8:35. The commentary about what the wasn't needed, as it didn't add anything to the video. Just enjoy the duck. Or, the waterfall and stream starting at about 14:00, that whole section, could have just been the sound of ambient sound the waterfall and the stream. The part about it being walkable and other pertinent information could have been said afterwards. Commentary can sometimes ruin the moment, and the experience. If you ever watch CBS Sunday Morning, there is a segment each week at the end of the show, where it's just a minute or so of nature with no commentary, it's just the sound of the nature, and just the ambient sound speaks so loud on it's own. Words would only lessen the moment.
Appreciate the notes, and I’ve been trying to add in a bit more nature noise and ambient noise lately, but our style for the past nine years has been mainly comedic commentary!! :P ~Jay
@@parodeejay Where do you guys call home, that is when you are not traveling? My wife and I are early 70’s and love to travel and we look forward to every new episode. We’ll be on the NCL Prima next April for a transatlantic that had all the same stops you had but will continue on from Iceland. So glad to watch your videos - it gave us so much information to help us plan our trip!

Danish customs says you sacrifice your favorite pacifier when you turn 3 years old. You tie it to a tree with a ribbon and sometimes a note

We have JSYK shop in the UK too x
For some reason I didn't expect The Faroe Islands to be as developed as it looks. it's Gorgeous.
Hey dee and jay, question why on the top of some of the houses there is grass on the top of the roofs. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
We learned about that in our Eidfjord vlog from earlier in this series! It’s a form of insulation for their houses!! :P
Do you guys keep track of how many countries you have visited in your life so far?

@@parodeejay We keep track of how many our daughter has visited, she's 13 and up to 20 countries now! Husband and I have about 5 more than her. =)

I visited the faroe islands over 30 years ago and it doesn't seem to have changed that much.
