Thank you for this amazing vlog of Greenland! It looks like you had an incredible day. Jays commentary had us in stitches and Dee’s photos were beautiful.
Qaqortoq - ka ko dok - I live in Qaqortoq! We've had a lot of rain and fog this summer! The Open museum Art Museum is from the "Stone and Man" project started by Aka Hoegh from 1993 - 94!. What was the date you came through. I could have sworn I might have seen you sitting together near the kayak club. The museum building was built in 1804 and it is a prefabrication building. The fountain was built in 1932 by Pavia Hoegh who is the grandfather of Aka Hoegh. I'll get you the information concerning Arna (short for her long name) She traveled with Rasmussen over 18,000 Kilometers all over Greenland. She was the first Inuit woman to do this! The small river is fed by the mouth of the lake and flows into the harbor. The lakes name is Tasersuaq (Big Lake) The red long building next to the lake is school dorms. You have to go by boat to see Hvalsey. It's 11 kilometers all the way around the lake! If you're interested in learning more. Shoot me your questions. That was a whale wall not a fish wall. The name of the whale wall is called "They Come" by Aka along with the Inuit faces which is called "Insight." I immigrated from N. Florida to be with my Greenlandic Husband. I've lived in Qaqortoq for 13 years. I am also a city tour and tannery guide.
Wow! Those icebergs were amazing! Nice job you two, and good idea, Dee. I'm waiting patiently for #8, and reminiscing about being on HAL's Westerdam, which we loved! ❤
What an amazing day! Dee, what incredible pictures-I loved the pictures of the brightly-colored houses on the hills. I know so little about that part of the world and am grateful for your thorough videos.
We were there in 2005 we may have been the first ship visiting. School was closed and everyone wanted to greet us. We wanted to meet them and they wanted to greet us.😅 .
I got off the Carnival Pride yesterday 😢, and I also went to Qaqortoq. It was too foggy in Nanortalik, though. And Donkey was our cruise director (it was supposed to be Dustin Gabriel). Fall of 2025, I'm doing the TA on the Mardi Gras! Starting in Barcelona and ending in Port Canaveral for 14 days.
Thankee! We’ve been popping three or four videos a week every single week, hah… so we’re still here! Hopefully YT hasn’t been hiding our stuff if you’re subscribed!!
We were there last year on our 12 night celebrity cruise from New Jersey to Newfoundland , Greenland and Iceland. We got a taxi in this town and saw the entire town. There are no roads between the cities in Greenland it’s dog sled helicopter or boat to get out of town. Enjoyed this stop and even got a Greenland beer from my taxi driver.
Loved the video! We had a perfect day there too. I did a bus tour that took us all around. I didn’t do the ice berg tour ( wish I had though) because I had one booked for the next day. Well we didn’t make it in to Nanortalik, so no iceberg tour for me😞 but I did see a lot on our way into Qaqortoq. Can’t wait for the next video!
Those icebergs would be worth the whole trip for me!
I never had Greenland on my bucket list but seeing that last minute iceberg trip you took? Wow! Breathtaking
