I have Taranis QX7 and I pre-ordered TX16S. I was planning to upgrade gimbals on my taranis, but with price of gimbals and multiprotocol module you get whole transmitter.
I fly mostly drones, multiprotocol helps with small indoor drones. Usually when some model is on sale frsky spi version is sold out, with this I can buy whatever is in stock.
So thoughtful of them to provide a personally engraved version Stu!
I have the Jumper T16 pro V2 and it sounds like the Radiomaster is right up there! I love my T16. No issues thus far. I would recommend either for someone looking to upgrade. Sub $200 multi-protocol. And feel solid! Keep up the awesome content!

I'm really leaning towards this one too. My QX7 is having some weird issues that I can't find an answer for. Pretty close to telling frsky to stuff it. Really stupid of them to remove all of the old firmware updates from their site.
You just another one for them. I was able to hold one at a fun fly. Feels solid in my hands, balances perfectly on a strap. Even better than spektrum. Which I've used for 12 years now.
This will be a hot seller for sure. I will wait for the next upgrade cycle as I already have a Jumper T16 Pro. Good review Stu !!

Bought it last week. Ditched my spektrum tx6e. Still learning..
Mr Steele has a mod video on how to tighten or loosen the gimbals. He also mods the center click on throttle to get rid of it. Super easy. It’s just loosening and tightening screws for both the tension and center click.
I'm just breaking into FPV and someone pointed me to this radio and came across this video. I plan on doing cinematics alot as well as breaching into other areas. Guess all I'm asking is about the range, how is that?
Mine is on the way to me as of 4 days ago. Went for the Hall version without the TBS as I already have one in my X9 Lite. Looks like a solid upgrade.

Now I want this radio. For a wing i'm all ready short on channels (6 channel).

No need, I just left, there are lots of reviews everywere with normal people.
I’ve already got a jumper t16, but this one just seems to be a bit better overall, I like the inboard charging and the touch screen, even though that hasn’t been activated as yet. Also the placement of the memory card, a lot better than the jumper, which is a pain to get out and put in. I’m definitely thinking of getting one, not just as a back up, but as my main unit.
I just put in an order for this radio today, and It is right now by far the best one out, however I hope at some point we get to see frsky back on top. I am a huge fan of the taranis series.

Good day from.USA, and I have taken about 12 months away from this hobby...I'm excited to see there are now more options for a reasonable priced Radio....I've been using Flysky is X9 with external antenna mod it's an entry level controller and never got any good distance and too many fail-safes....Shame on FrySky and there bullying tactics....I always felt there was something shaddy going on with FrySky....I'm excited to get a Radiomaster TX16S.....the only trending topics I see across the board is the Gimbals and travel range....splitting hairs ....keep the reviews Videos coming...

there''re some HARDWARE CHANGES to the 3rd batch of radiomaster t16s (got
mine just a few days ago hallsensor version) the protective film on the
touch screen doesn't have a grid pattern on it that so many thought to
be the touch screen pattern, there's a larger louder speaker installed
in the back cover not in the back of the grid in front so two halves are
now connected by two cables, probably important info for anybody
opening the radio for the first time and the project box is replaced
with a simple flat plastic cover and you get extra screen protector in
the box.
So I'm a noob looking for my first controller and hope you don't mind some constructive criticism. So be careful when you review things for noobs. So this was my first review of this Transmitter and your negatives really put me down from buying this. Especially that you said the joysticks are too sharp and high. So after watching other people's reviews. I found out you can easily file them down.. or even change them out entirely. So please just be REAL with your reviews and always explain things that if people are first trying to get into this hobby. If it's something super minor, explain to us that it can be easily fixed. For the price and features.. I see this being one of the best controllers you'll ever buy.
ALSO , like to know with radio master tx16 , what other receiver we can use , like can i use FLYSKY OR TURNIGY RECEIVER OR old JR RECEIVER which come with black antina wire ?

I got the T18 Pro. The gimbals you get are worth the entire price of the radio.
Cancelled my order for the T18s and got this instead. The internal 2.4 ghz antena killed it for me. Joshua Bardwell did a range test and results were clear, unfortunate because I love the look of the jumper but you can't beat all the feature the TX16 has

Did the 2nd gentlemen say that a firmware upgrade to allow touchscreen is two firmware updates away or whole new hardware product releases away? And does this have selective change for stick controls for USA orientation ? And last question I promise, is this mainly for FPV flying or is it as good for fixed wing flying (which is what I would use it for)? thanks all very much for your help!!!!

EldarKinSlayer , I’m jealous, after radiomaster brought out this one I’m assuming that jumper would have taken all the criticism about the t16 and probably would have gone that step further to beat the radiomaster.

There's a reason they look a like. The guys that made the Jumper T16 where partners until one decided to leave and start RadioMaster!
I still am using my Taranis X9D Plus the older then 2019 version. And it is fine. Don't need the newest, why? But just because I am bored I may buy both. RadioMaster TX16S Pro and the Jumper T18 Pro.
I was thinking about the Tango 2 but it would involve jumping into soldering because none are my drones are on Crossfire. This might be a better option for now, and it lets me get into Crossfire later if i want.

Stu: Don't know what you used for your field camera, but the video quality was great!
for 100$ with colour screen and no hall gimbal you can not do anything wrong especially as beginner.
My last X lite was more expensive an recommanded by a lot of people and then the Taranis X9D was the next, but also a lot more expensive and then the JUmper T16S.
So 100$ for the basic one and you will be happy. Even the Jumper was a lot harder to get, had a few flaws and was 160$ so a lot more for colour and no touch screen.
The big advantage are 2 USB Type C ports and onboard charging ... and metall rollers ... and touch screens for 130$ ... what I had ordered now ... to replace the Jumper T16S.
You can open it easily and adjust tension ... or replace the stick.
Does it have 60 degree throw gimbals like the X9D, or 45 degree like the jumper t16?

It has definitly bigger gimbals than the t16. they are advertising them as full size gimbals but i can't compare to a x9d

will it bind with DSM2 (Spektrum older protocol) , man I have about 15-20 of those older 6 channel receivers...also is there headtracking support for the Trinity (Fat Shark) head tracking?
The USB charging can only be used with 18650 batteries, not with a LiPo, right? Thought that might be important to point out, if I'm right, 'cause as temperamental as LiPos can get when mistreated I'd hate for anyone to get that wrong. No idea whether it could go nuclear and hopefully Radiomaster has safeties built into the firmware if it could cause a dangerous situation, but I'm pretty confident that nobody's ever said "I wish I hadn't made sure this won't burn my house down. ". 😉 Great looking radio though. I've been coveting one for months now, ever since Oscar Liang put out the first little blurb about it. Oh, one other question about it. Are the so called "full size" gimbals comparable in size and stick travel to Taranis X9D Plus M9 gimbals? Thanks for the review! 😁👍
How do I find out what the codes are for like the "TRSS". What does that stand for?

@@checkm8606 Well it's basically how it was with jumper, and also alliexpress sells potentiometer version for 120, and resellers who not offer preorders has "TBD" pricing.
better get it now, in my opinion this is a very well engineerd radio, unlike other companys who rush thier unfinished products on the market without beta testing. Then releasing a "pro" version or some sh*t a few months later.

Nice video! Quick question? My Left stick (Mode 2) is off center to the right. Not by much, but I can see it for sure. This was not an issue at all since calibrating worked great, however, after using the radio with a Flight Sim, the Sim told me that Channel 4 is off center??? Is there a way to center the stick using some "Gimbal Adjustments" in the inside??? Thanks.
Does this radio have programmable mixes/how many? I build custom farm and construction models, so all those switches are absolutely perfect. Also, does this have channel slow-down feature?

I got mine about a week ago and have since upgraded the firmware and OpenTX to 2.3.9 and now when I go to plug it in via USB for HD access they don't register in Win10 which it did before I upgraded. When I start it in bootloader mode it's still 2.3.8 and does work, but I lose the ability to load & test things like images, etc live. Any clue on how to get it working in USB HD mode while booted again? Thanks!
Hi i just got this radio, and when callibrating and sliding the right slider all the way to the top on screen i only see it going a bit above half of the center, the left slider reaches the top. Do u know a fix and if its software or hardware? When sliding it smoothly goes from the bottom till lets say 54% without a dead zone so i think its a bug or setting, anyone got a clue? Thanks
T18 comes 30€ or $ more and you might get the T18 with the taranis R9 protocol built in ...
But for 20 to 25€ you will get here a r9 bay modul from taranis with antenna on ebay for cheap ... while the Radiomaster does not have the R9 built in.
I do not know what is inside the Jumper T18 but I haded their packaging of my Jumper T16S (mine arrived with broken switches), the ribbon cable are a mess, no usb charging unless you buy it additionaly and 1 key point missing in this video:
the Radiomaster has a far bigger battery compartment so you can easily fit 2x 18650 cells in it which are roughly more than 5.000 mAh

Nope the voltage for fm is incompatible with modern radios so they don’t make a module for it .

Radiomaster TX16S = Jumper T17 in witness protection
Not sure if anyone else is having this problem for some reason my radiomaster tx16s will failsafe on my accst xm+ receivers out of the blue dosen't do it every time and I was way farther came back close and it rx loss failsafed this time it destroyed my quad but when I fly with my qx7 it has never fail safed.
i have a question, do these come in the power rating range, i forget what the terminology is, basicly do they come in the form of EU/NON-EU versions?

Hi, Im getting into the hobby for the first time have bought a TX16s and am about to join my local club here in Queensland, however am facing some concerns from guys who are completely unfamiliar with Radiomaster as to its quality and whether it meets MAAA approval. Would really appreciate it if you could share any thoughts on this?
That would depend more on the current membership of your local Club. I mean some will Black Ball you if you dare to turn up at the club in anything less than a Rolls Royce. Others will welcome you and be happy to work with you to improve your skills if you arrive on your kids' old beat up pushbike and no worries about what brand of gear you use - as long as it's safe! I hope that you struck the latter? It's a great hobby with a group of likeminded mates! 🙂

I’m pretty sure it will, I’ve got my own tx16s and when choosing receiver options their is the option “frisky”, and if that’s not it u can still choose out of like another 50 options, so yeah I’m pretty sure it will, hope that help 😃🙃

I just opened up the radio and ripped those two trims right off. Luckily, its just a plastic piece that comes off. I will make a 3D printed part that slips over and covers the hole in the future, for now, I just use electrical tape. Wow, what a difference. I like to use my fingers to hole the controller and those sharp edges were riding right on my fingers. What an annoying design.
What do you do with the reviewed products?
Isn't it the same as jumper t16 but with internal charging and not working (yet) touch screen? What is the difference?
