Since Captain Marvel's first appearance in the pages of Whiz Comics #2 (February 1940), there have been 6 live-action variants of the character.
Welcome to Geekwatch's variants, and in this episode we would list down all the actors who have portrayed the THE WORLD'S MIGHTIEST MORTAL.
But first, a big shout out to our SUBSCRIBER: craig p gunn.

• 6'2" Tom Tyler is the 1st actor to portray Captain Marvel. He appeared in Adventures of Captain Marvel movie serial (1941). Tom Tyler was 38 years old when he appeared as Captain Marvel.
• 6'3" Jackson Bostwick is the 2nd actor to portray Captain Marvel. He appeared in Shazam tv series: season 1-2 [17 episodes] (1974-1975). Bostwick was 31 years old in his first appearance as Captain Marvel, and 32 years old in his last.
• 6'3" John Davey is the 3rd actor to portray Captain Marvel. He appeared in the following; Shazam tv series: seasons 2-3 for 11 episodes (1975-1976), and The Secrets of Isis tv series; seasons 2-3 for 3 episodes (1975-1976). Davey was 36 years old in his first appearance as Captain Marvel, and 37 years old in his last.
• 6'2" Garrett Craig is the 4th actor to portray Captain Marvel. He appeared in Legends of the Superheroes 2-episode tv specials (1979). Garrett Craig was 35 years old when he appeared as Captain Marvel.
• 6'0" John Valdetero is the 5th actor to portray Captain Marvel. He appeared in Drew Carey Show - season 6 episode 15 (2001). John Valdetero was around 40 years old when he appeared as Captain Marvel.
• 6'3" Zachary Levi is the 6th actor to portray the champion of Shazam. He appeared in the following; Shazam movie (2019), and Shazam: Fury of the Gods movie (2022). Levi was 38 years old in his first appearance as Captain Sparklefingers, and 43 years old in his last.

Same. I used to watch the Shazam/Isis hour. It's all about money. I had a huge crush on Isis! Joanna Cameron was is her name, I believe.
The actress appeared in an episode of the 70s Spider-man tv show.

The Tom Tyler serial is one of the best ever made. Republic Studios and Columbia had some of the best. You get a glimpse of the uniform in episode 1 of The Adventures of Superman
I would totally agree with you on this.
Not just Tom Tyler's uniform, but also Buster Crabbe's from Flash Gordon.
Republic Pictures had better flying effects for Captain Marvel, Commando Cody and Rocketman than Columbia's animated ones for Superman (Kirk Alyn) and the later George Reeves series.
@andrewweisneck1102 I think Republic had the all-round best serials of any studio
Tom Tyler was the best. I got a kick out of him throwing an engine block at a couple of henchmen in one of the chapters. He didn't play patty-cakes with the bad guys.
That's a laugh riot 🤣. What are your thoughts on the new Shazam and Black Adam?
He also mowed down several people with a machine gun.
The movie "J-Men Forever" had clips of various serials with funny dialogs dubbed in.
The scene with Captain Marvel roughing up some bad guys has him telling them "It's fun to abuse you."
@@Geekwatch00 Sorry for the late reply. I never saw your comment. They were entertaining, but I never thought of Captain Marvel having the mind of Billy Batson. I liked Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam but didn't care for the CGI villain. The best part of the Shazm sequel was seeing Michael Gray in the crowd, in his trademark red/yellow shirt, shouting, "You're the best Captain Marvel!".

I really hate how DC lost the copyright for the name "Captain Marvel" to MARVEL comics. I grew up watching the "Shazam" tv series and read the comics back in the 1970's. I just can't get used to him now being called "Shazam," while "Captain Marvel" is an Avenger. It's just so stupid! Shazam can't introduce himself by name without triggering his transformation back into Billy Batson!
We read somewhere in the comics that he'll be foing by the title - "The Captain"
But we agree with you this character will always be Captain Marvel 😊

Michael Gray in Shazam! (1974-1977)
And
Asher Angel in Shazam! (2019) and Shazam!: Fury Of The Gods (2023)
The Captain Marvels from Legends Of The Superheroes (1979) and The Drew Carey Show (2001) didn't have an on screen Billy Batson.

I actually haven't seen Fury Of The Gods yet, but I knew about that cameo.
I wish JoAnna Cameron (Isis) would have done a cameo in a DC project before she died.

That's the name Freddy called him in Shazam! (2019). They couldn't come up with a superhero name for him, but in 2023's Shazam! Fury of the Gods, the Wizard said his name is "Shazam"

@@Geekwatch00 I was watching it thinking “oh maybe this is an old video” but then I did some digging… you know what I found? At the point this video was made “Captain Marvel” had gone through a name change, meaning it shouldn’t still say “Captain Marvel” Very suspicious indeed.

s chen, Shazam is what Billy Batson says to become Captain Marvel. Shazam is what Captain Marvel says to turn back into Billy Batson. There IS no Character called Shazam. Get facts right.
Captain marvel is a different superhero to Shazam ok 2 separate superhero from DC comics and Marvel comics as I have my facts right

@Geekwatch He wasn't always a kid once he transformed into Captain Marvel, the still being a kid is a new version of him and it sucks.DC didn't like the fact that Captain Marvel was out selling superman so they sued Fawcett comics and ended up buying the character. After they got him, they watered him down into a joke because they (DC) competing against superman.

@@mlfitness67DC tried that with The Greatest American Hero too in 1981 claiming Ralph Hinkley was a rip-off of Superman but they lost that case
Maybe they might have been successful if they had realized that Ralph was closer to Green Lantern by receiving his supersuit from aliens like Hal Jordan recieved his power ring from The Guardians Of The Universe.

Das Video handelt vom „Original“ CAPTAIN MARVEL, dem einen, den DC in den 1940er Jahren von den Fawcett-Comics erworben hat. Der Charakter wird jetzt hauptsächlich als SHAZAM assoziiert, aber er ist immer noch offiziell Captain Marvel. Bries Captain Marvel ist ein anderer Charakter und wir werden wahrscheinlich in Zukunft ein Video über sie machen.
