It's a very good bike. There is almost nothing to change. The only modifications I made were cut the handlebar, because it is too long to navigate between cars, and replace the agency fists, which are very hard, by ergonomic. Also, I incorporated a pair of fenders, mirrors for motorcycle type cafe racer and a rack
Partly based on this nice review, I bought one an hour ago. Got 20% off and a free lock as it's the 2016 model (big shout out to Kamei cycles, Yokosuka, Japan). I noticed the great acceleration immediately, but had to tuck my trousers into my socks for the first time since childhood, because there's no chain guard. Narrower handlebars than I imagined, but I'll get used to that. Very sporty, light, and fun to ride though.
I have a 2013 Giant Escape 3 and it’s still running. Routine maintainence. Keep the drive train clean. I’ve rode this bike weighing from 230-280 lbs, I’ve always been a bigger guy, and I can move around really well in this bike. Absolutely love this bike. I rode my bike to and from work several times. Bumpy roads do suck with this bike, you feel everything. But it does what it’s meant to do. Strongly recommend.
This bike rocks! Been using it for 4 months now and mileage is piling up, but it still gives a fast and smooth ride. I was skeptical at first due to the affordable price but I couldn't be more wrong.
I own one of these in 2021, I would replace the stock steel handle bars with something aluminum you can get even for $10 on the cheap, big weight difference is felt. I also glue-gunned the holes where the cables insert to because if water gets in there, goodbye frame. They really should have included rubber grommets. In hindsight I wish I went for the escape 2 because of the aluminum fork and sram suntour components but the bike hasnt failed me yet. Good forks by themselves cost too much to upgrade on a cheap bike like this, so not worth it. in hindsight the escape 2 2015 was a bargain as well, bike prices have gone significantly higher since those days. you'll have to shell out double for something with a nice fork included. I think this frame looks wayyyyyyyyy better than the new escape frames.
Very nice video...even better if it was lengthier! Do you think you will do some upgrades or enhancements in the future? If yes, what do you think they would be?
lino pestano I bought this bike 2 weeks ago it wasn't comfortable so I exchange it fir Giant cypress dx the only difference between those two bikes that the Giant escape is lighter and a little bit faster but the Giant cypress comfortable upright position but a little heavier
Is this bike good city bike and is it good on dirt roads? I want to buy one to commute to work and from work and my route to work has a couple of dirt roads.
I `d like to choose between Giant Escape 3 or Specialized Sirrus Alloy. The Giant is much more cheap in Argentina than Specialized. Which one do you recommend me?. Thank you very much!!
Giant Escape 2 comes with hydrologic disc brakes. V brakes and disc brakes are quite similar in stopping power but disc brakes are much better in the wet.
Hi, Thanks for the video. I am planning a long trip around France and I am thinking in this bike, but I am not sure how many kilograms does the backrack resist? Could you help me please?
This bike was really easy to assemble th-cam.com/users/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.
good review, but way too much intro and outro music and ridiculousness. Look up a channel Raitis Rides. he is the best reviewer on youtube and only 2.5 seconds of intro, done. still, your review is good, just too much extras. keep it to 3 seconds max.
I would recommend the Escape for the speed factor. It has a more aggressive setup, but it remains comfortable to ride. You may want to switch out the stock seat for a more comfortable aftermarket seat. I have the 2016 Escape 3 and really love it! Great bike for hard surface trails and commutes! 10 mile rides are no problem!
@@tavakessler how do I go about finding out what year bike i am buying? Im doing layaway to buy this escape 3 at my local bike store. My Marlin 7 is awesome but i missed my escape so much. I originally went in the store "just to look around"..... yeah i was way wrong lol. $390 because it is older model but looks sick. I don't need all the bells and whistles. Linear pull rim brakes are good enough for me on this bike
My review for the new version of this bike! th-cam.com/video/KOgXtcI8gtE/w-d-xo.html
the best bike review I've seen. I like that you show the bike in action, cover braking distance, wide handle-bars, etc.
Owned one of these for a few years, out of the four bikes I own it's my favorite to ride. Quick, smooth and fast A++
Yep!

EXCELLENT review!! You never get to see so detailed clips of the bike in action in other videos

JapanJohnny2012 what does a chain guard do
JP Fraga a chain guard protects your trousers from getting oily.

Helpful review, thanks man!
i just bought a fairly used one from a thrift store for $160. I just pumped the tires and oiled the chain and he is good to go.
Right?? These things just keep going
Nice job with the review
Thank you sir
Great review
thanku bro... I am going to buy it
good.down.to the.point review
the kind of review I look for thanks I love the info I got from this I think I mite be sold
I found a used 2016 escape 3 at a LBS for 299 in great shape. The 2024 is 550. Is the 2024 model worth the extra 250
Love this bike... but replaced the seat after my first 10 miles.. it is apparently iron. 😆
Sick little bike. Did you compare with Cannondale Quick at all?
drewmorg Imo the Quicks are better all around. I have the 2017 Quick4 amazing bike.
hello what year model is this
Thanks for review today I was in shop and I almost buy it. :)
outstanding!
Wait how do u know the difference between giant 3 and giant 2
Do you think it's better than a trek FX1 ????
Is this bike good city bike and is it good on dirt roads? I want to buy one to commute to work and from work and my route to work has a couple of dirt roads.
Great city bike, but wouldn’t recommend on dirt roads unless they are pretty smooth
this or sirrus 2019....cant decide
nick bio did you get the giant in the end?
@@johndosh9436 got the sirrus because i found it cheaper

Well if the giant escape is cheaper, I’d go for it!
try vitus hybrid bike much cheaper.
Would it be worth it to pay extra for the disc brakes ?
I think so. I love disk breaks. Really my only complaint about this bike is not having them
Giant Escape 2 comes with hydrologic disc brakes. V brakes and disc brakes are quite similar in stopping power but disc brakes are much better in the wet.
I used to have the Escape 2 then it got stolen, is the Escape 3 a downgrade?
Sorry to hear that! No, not at all. I think you can get it with disc brakes now as well
Weight?
millenium2003 12kg
awesome!.....thanks
I am 186cm, i will fet Medium size, it will be a problem??
I would absolutely get the large version

My height is 169.5cm Should I buy Small or medium size?
Definitely medium
@@tavakessler Giant size guide says Small till 170cm. Why do you suggest medium?
I find it better to go a bit bigger. I know someone who is 5’8” (173) and rides a large and loves that size.

Yep! This is a very old video, I’ve learned a lot since then.
The seat is the only item that is a little uncomfortable
What size did you get and how tall are you?
I don't know what size, I thought it only came in one, but I'm 5'11".
Wheel size is 27.5in
+TLK Reviews Any chance you could check? It should be written on the frame itself (M or L). It would help me a lot.
+Reinout Roels it's an M
+TLK Reviews Thanks a lot! Since I'm also 5'11 it helped me pick the right size !
Trying to decide between this and the Giant Cypress. I'm trying to maintain decent speed and remain comfortable, so which one should I get?
I would recommend the Escape for the speed factor. It has a more aggressive setup, but it remains comfortable to ride. You may want to switch out the stock seat for a more comfortable aftermarket seat. I have the 2016 Escape 3 and really love it! That is the escape 1
Max40964 looks like the escape 1 with tbe internal cables but the escape 1 has disc breaks but maybe that's the 2018 model
That's Escape 2.
Escape 1 doesn't have disc breaks either.
How is that the 2018 model if this video was uploaded in 2016?
No one riding a road bike really need disk breaks. If u are riding that much downhill, get a mount bike.
I very much disagree. The responsiveness and performance of disk brakes make them significantly safer for travel on roads and around traffic.
I shouldn’t bought Giant Talon 2. It’s not as fast as Road Bike when I ride on the street.
I bought this bike b4
Is this Escape 1, 2 or 3?
3

Is there a way to raise the handlebars on a 2017 Escape 3? I can't seem to figure it out.
Not that I’m aware of
OK, thanks for the info.
You need a stem extender

Pretty well. I've had this bike for a year and a half and never had a problem.
