I got so lucky and found one on marketplace for $200 I lowballled and offered $100 and seller took it ! I already have a full suspension bike but it's not fun taking it out on the street. New tubes and phone mount later and I'm ready to ride 😊
I have esc 3 from last year. RIVERSIDE Bikepacking / Gravel 31,8 mm HANDLE BAR, hossz 52,6 mm. Break lever adjusted to the maximum can be enough +- for mid sized fingers. So it is a poor-man gravel bike now. TRIBAN 1"1/8 Ahead 31,8 looks like a pro.
How much does a carbon fork really reduce vibrations? I basically have the 2 version of this bike. It doesn't have the carbon fork. Does a carbon fork on a bike like this basically provide a ride like butter or is it somewhat less vibration-y or is it pretty marginal in terms of improvement?
@@emerald39 There might be some resonance shit.. but I doubt it would be that different. And.. I have seen a pic of a broken cf fork.. it was broken right at the bottom part, where it meets the wheel hub(forgot the exact word). Somehow they bond aluminum and carbon fiber and it cracks right there. There was a post about it on reddit, they say it is because of moisture, it weakens that point.
I have one with carbon forks and you do notice it. That's why I bought it, with hard tyres it does have a very slight suspension feel to it. All carbon fork bikes will do this and I like it.
It's not the top dog, that's the Escape 0. Don't ask me why they do that but they do. I've got one. It's a 1x11 gearing, carbon fork and seat post, but apart from that it's the same I think.
I think it's a cool bike and your overview is really helpful. I'm shopping for a bike and this one's in the running. I don't get the 'do it all' sales pitch though. Commuting, riding with the family, riding for fitness. It's all the same type of riding. Roads and paved bike paths. Maybe some well packed gravel. The same riding every hybrid bike has been designed for since there have been hybrid bikes.
Cross shopping this with a sirrus 3, fairfax 3 and fx3. Any insight as they are relatively comparable to me? Just getting back into the sport and buying to get back in shape mostly and riding with the kids. Fx3 and Giant are cheaper right now by about $200.
Hello. I'm looking for a 15 degree giant stem for my "2021 roam 2" bike, but I can't find it. how can i get it? would you recommend the shimano pro 17 degree stem for roam?
Interesting. It's kind of like my 2020 Trek FX3... similar drive train anyway.(BTW, if you can swap out the Altus shifters with the Alivio ones, they work better). I like the little bit wider tires on there. I noticed that Cypress has a suspension fork, along with their Roam. Interesting considering the direction Trek took with the Dualsport this year that you showed us earlier. I wonder if Giant will follow that trend next year?
i'm looking for a bike that is basically a gravel but with flat bar. trek fx 2 would be OK but the forks won't accept wider tires unlike this giant. scott subcross 50 is also a contestant, however, it's kinda heavy.
This looks like a very nice bike. However… if someone is on a budget, I’d try to find a similar bike with an aluminum fork and rim brakes. You will probably save $300-400 and still have a bike that’s 95% as good to ride.
@@Jamesthebikeguy you got no front shock. This is crap bike.Your writs will fell every bump you ll get tired more when going on sidewalk cause you got no bounce to lift up front wheel and your headset will be broken every 6 months from all the impacts. They brought back rigid forks after 25 years so they reduce costs and now they sell it like its fitness bike lol. Its crap bike you can go nowhere with
I was expecting you to say it's the bike equipvalent version of the Ford Escape to see the coincidence
Ahhhhhh Dang it! I totally missed that opportunity 😭

Which one is better, this one or Trek FX3 Disc?

Tyres are key for reducing vibration on a bike like this, carbon is the stiffest material it's not reducing any vibration lol that is just marketing
@@emerald39 Interesting thanks
I thought aliminium is stiffer? carbon can flex better @@emerald39

Rented a Sirrus while out of town. I was really glad to get back on my Giant Escape!
Nice review. Fastroad AR 2 Or Escape 1 for first bike?
How does this compare to a Specialized Sirrus X 3.0
Great vid! Do you plan on doing a review of the Giant Fast Road AR 2?
