He was filmed at 16 years old. The entire 3 seasons take place over a single school year. He was filmed last fall and now it is late winter/early spring.
yes, Wille started at Hillerska in October or so, and currently it would be April, 6 months later. it's probably been a few weeks between s2 and s3
And only 4 months have passed since Erik's death in November.
Yes, Simon is the one who is a minor. Wilhe is considered an adult.

15:10 as much as I agree with you I also think that the main reason why Wille is so impulsive is because at his home he is extremely restricted in every little thing all the time. So I'd say it's natural he grew up to be as impulsive.
Nobody really ever cares about how he feels, so he literally has to go to the extremes to be heard

this is exactly what i was thinking too! i think sure, his personality is more impulsive. but he is constantly fighting to just be supported for being himself. He's forced into roles he never wanted. Always forced into what to say and not say. so any chance he gets to be himself and feel like a normal guy, he seems to go for it all the way. Whereas Simon's personality is more calculated and he's always had to look out for sara. He's grown up in working class and doesn't have the privilege Wille, but he has his mom's support. Wille doesn't have that from his parents
@@ginadanca9595 yeah, I agree with you completely. The main difference between them for me is not the class and financial stability, but the support system. Which Wille lacks compared to Simon. Because at the end of a bad day they go back to different environments. While Simon is greeted with understanding and love from his mom Wille is greeted with cold-hearted remarks about the way he should behave and how he should look. That is the main tragedy of Wille's life in my opinion.
Simon lacks insightfullnes due to his age. He can't quite compehend Wille's needs for simplicity, because it's a given to him. (We can see it clearly further in the season).
Nevertheless, I want their love to succeed any differences so bad!
Agreed. Willie's social skills are undeveloped, it is akin to those of a kindergartner- he wants what he wants and he does it , says it or takes it … this isn't a slight on his character, but a consequence of his upbringing. .. he has not learned the essential skill of considering others when making a decision… he has never made a decisions for himself and when decisions are made for him he was never considered . The nuances of relationships are foreign to him; he's unversed in the give-and-take that they require. In addition to this the first time he “acts “ he gets rewarded the thing he wants the most a relationship with Simon ( he won against the Queen and the Monarchy “ … I am sure that for him. This is like empirical evidence that acting without thinking will get you want you want
I agree 1000000% that Simon should have been included in the car conversation with wille and the woman he was talking too! They should have been clear with him from the start on the expectations and what is and is not allowed so that he knows and agrees to it. All I will say is that this does come up later in the show as well. It sucks bc Simon isn’t the type of person to want to filter or finish what he believes in or wants to fight for, especially because of who he is and what kind of class and stuff he comes from he wants to have a voice and be heard but at the same time he does come to understand the consequences of being in a public relationship with wille and it just really sucks fr! I love this show so much and I love your reactions to it Jackie thanks for being such a wonderful person ❤❤❤
If this would be real life they are doing a terrible job of managing the image of the monarchy. Talking to Simon would have been even way more important than talking to Wilhelm because Wilhelm kows the rules, he grew up like that, Simon didn`t.

Even when she grieves Eric it only comes up when she is unhappy with the way Wille is and she wishes for her perfect boy back. I have the impression she doesn`t grieve Eric as a person or her son but just as a function of being right for her perfect little picture of the monarchy.
I feel the worst for Wille-there’s not a single adult truly supporting this young guy with tremendous pressure on him. Think about it. People criticize him but imagine you’re 16 - 17 and you’re dealing all of this without any emotional support. SMH it’s heartbreaking 💔
Don't want to be a pessimist, but... I'm really not seeing how this could end with them together. I want them to, of course... but their realities are so different and they are very young. Like, the only solution that comes to my mind right now is that Wille gives up the Crown in order to live a "normal" life with Simon. But if he continues in the royal path, Simon's will be so limited and he is such a free soul that I can't imagine it. Crying and ready to cry some more haha. 😭😭😭
For Willie to learn / grow Simon has to leave him .... i can see them together BUT ONLY after some years apart ... even if the Queen and Court had suddenly become supportive .. Willie's obsession with Simon and lack of awareness of the world would just make it impossible for them to be together at 17

I totally agree. I want to watch the rest of the series today and I am stalling because I am afraid I will have to watch them breaking up for good if the writers want to keep it real.
Even if Wille will give up the Crown that doesn`t suddenly erase their different upbringing, gets the press attention away or makes him a "normal" person. What kind of life and job is the former Crown Prince going to have?
There is no way I want them to stay together if Wille is staying Crown Prince because that would mean Simon spending his time on stupid formal outings as the spouse of the prince/king, instead of becoming a singer. No way.
So, there you go, I am going to watch and find out right now :)
Interesting things about this season ....
The lighting most scenes are very bright - suggesting that it will all be coming out into the open
Simon's key chain - them standing between the lockers with the middle finger key chain between their hands AFTER that very public kiss ( its like them saying FU)
The light colours they are wearing - Willie's colours suggesting hope and newness ... Simon goes back and forth between his old clothes and new light neutral colours or greys ... showing he is conflicted and raising the question will he conform ( what the greys suggest) will he be neutral and focus on Willie ... or will remain the Simon we met in seasons 1 and 2
the fact that ever time willie sits on the bed so far ... he is sat between the pic of him and Simon and the DARN red light ( from the last 2 season .. every time we saw those light on Willie was in contemplating a choice he needed to make )
I like that they are showing us Felice grieving her friendship with Sara
Wile is super privileged, but he also lives in a very gilded cage. And he has been conditioned to believe he is responsible for holding up this system of monarchy. In a way, Wile is in a cult culture. He also knows very little outside of his worldview, which has been very curated and controlled. As someone who grew up queer in a cultish religion, I really see the parallels. On top of all of this, the one person who was his confidant and safety in his family, his brother Eric, is gone. It doesn’t help that his parents, his mother especially, are so consumed by their grief that they don’t even see their other son. This is so much more than a queer story, but the fact that it is a queer story makes it even more complicated. Wile has his jerk moments this season, but I don’t think he has been taught how to behave any other way. It is too bad he doesn’t have anyone else to model things for him. Felice is his only neutral and nonromantic relationship. Nils might have been a good option, but he is too elitest. I kinda wish he could spend time with Simon’s mom. Someone should mom/mentor this kid!
this is so well said and I totally agree. The fact that wille only has felice as a true friend is so important but is so sad. Nils sometimes seems like he could be a friend but then he says something gross and elitist and I'm like welp nope. You have such a therapeutic perspective I love it.

3:14 In Season 2, we saw the Valentine's Ball, so that's February. Maybe the Jubilee was in March or April? I was guessing that it's been a week or two?? Maybe April. Felice was happy that Wille was coming back and had said she missed him. Then they mention that graduation is two months away. In the U.S., high school graduations are often in June (university graduations are usually in May). So April seems to fit.
It's difficult to separate my joy at Wille being brave and admitting everything with the fact that he didn't take Simon's feelings or wishes into account. This is why people say he's incredibly impulsive in that way. He acts b/c he knows he's protected by the Court. Simon does not have that luxury. I know they're young but they really need to learn some basic communication or they'll not make it.

I had the same thoughts about felice and sara. I'm just glad they're talking about how platonic relationships can be just as important and just as hard. I love that you quoted what Georgia says about platonic relationships. You usually catch things I don't and help me process everything going on. And it helps that you're a heartstopper fan bc I often think of it when I watch other shows

It's has a queer main character and it's called "everything leads to you" by Nina LaCour, if you're interesting in reading it.

Re the conversation in the car : I think Farima ( the lady in the car) see's the upsides of the relationship but to have the conversation officially with Simon she needs Jan Olaf's and the Queens approval . the Queen can't even look at Her son ... hearing about Simon will surely tip her over the edge .. and even if Jan Olaf is ok with the relationship he is not OK. with them being open ... so he will not be giving Willie and support right now

Prior to this, every aspect of his life was meticulously controlled-from his attire and public demeanour to his opinions on societal matters, Willie's autonomy was nonexistent.
Now, experiencing a semblance of liberty, especially after his relationship was accepted (a battle he viewed as winning), he is feeling like, “Damn, if I just act, it will be okay. I will win. I will be okay.” Willie is navigating this newfound freedom with an eagerness like that of a sheltered child finally stepping into the wider world for college, ready to do everything they were not previously allowed to do, without thinking about why it was not allowed. Simon, like many, has honed his relational and social skills through years of interaction. In contrast, Willie is at the starting line. He lacks a fundamental understanding of how genuine relationships and friendships function because he's never had the chance to form them. For Willie, this period is about living and taking control of his life. He does not have the experience of knowing that even in taking control, he must consider others, especially a partner. It's unfortunate, but like the rest of us, he will have to learn this lesson by losing Simon.
Willie being Public - Have you forgotten Seasons 1 and 2 ..Willie was the one hiding not wanting to be seen and Simon wanted to be public ( not as public a willie as made it but public). I think Willie is 1 riding on the high of being Bold and winning against the Royal Court and 2 i think he wants to give Simon what he thinks Simon wants ... by being public Simon just wanted to be able say we are together or not to sneak in the room Willie interprets that VERY VERY public displays of affection... GOD BLESS HIS HEART

So much happened in one episode! I’m stressed as well…I’m only two episodes in (trying to spread it out since it’s the final season and I will be sad when it’s done) but I already hate the whole school curfew/restrictions storyline. Hoping that part of this is short lived.
