Youthanasia is super underrated. Dave’s voice was at its peak on that album imo. It’s shame that A tout le monde (I love that song btw) is the only song from that album that they ever play live. So many hidden gems on that record!

When I was around 18-19 years old , I watched rusted pieces on vhs. When I first saw Holy wars I was blown away, it literally changed how I played guitar. From practicing more and learning everything I could, Dave changed my life! I will always hold Dave and Megadeth in my heart.

I have so many comments to make. 1. I am so grateful that Dave beat cancer, is here with us, and continues to rock! 2. I want to give him a big hug for being such a caring performer and taking the time to play at small venues. (especially in places in Europe that otherwise do not get to hear live concerts). My first time seeing Megadeth was in a small venue, and it was such an awesome show! 3. I have seen Megadeth 3 times because they keep their ticket prices reasonable. Not only that, but their t-shirts at the concession stand are also reasonable. Love you for that! 4. Overkill rocks! 5. Now I have to check out House of Mustaine wine.

Regarding the touring part: it’s just the sad truth of the industry now.
Such a shame. I read an article with Rob Dukes (former Exodus) a while back where he was working as a mechanic in addition to his gig with his current band. Thanks Dave! I’d say you’re The Godfather of thrash at least huh ?
A fantastic songwriter too , come on man ?
Hook in Mouth with the freedom acronym , clever AF and oh so relevant still.
RIP a guitar clinic song’s bordering on progressive never getting monotonous
Countdown (my personal favorite) with mid tempo epics Ashes in Your Mouth is a Megadeth musical business card ... and business is good
Then you got your soundtrack songs
    Go to Hell
    Angry Again
    Diadems
    99 Ways to Die
I’d put those against just about any single side of any other album and it’d hold its own
    Youthanasia, Slaps.
She Wolf has one of the best hooks of all time it’s a pop chorus that you swear you’ve heard before and it’s an ear worm
Anyway I could go on and on about all the great Megadeth albums and songs.
Thanks again for all the great music that helped get me through growing up in a home I didn’t always feel a part of , In a world I didn’t feel a part of. Megadeth and Bob Ross got me through some tough and lonely times growing up. \,,/

I don’t think he is The Godfather of metal and would agree with Iommi being The Godfather of metal, but Dave’s influence on Thrash cannot be understated he was in or a direct influence on 3 of the big four, yeah other bands were doing it around the same time and he gives them credit in this interview .

Megadeth, Metallica, and Anthrax, Slayer had the knack of songwriting. Alot of up and coming metal acts had flashes of brilliance, certain songs or riffs. Alot of band would come out strong with an intro, then resort to that fricken blast beat all the time and lose the groove. I think its remarkable how they had the vision to do the songwriting that was within the scheme of the song. I just think people like Dave and James, and Lars had the vision

If Dave is about supporting new, true-to-thrash metal bands, he may want to consider checking into the band called Whydah. Up and coming powerhouse of musicians.

What can rock and metal be to be one of the top genres on music? Right great songs. Chill out with being so technical. When deth did youthanasia they did some of they recorded good tunes. After that most of their stuff has been trying to relive their past glory.
