Man, Im glad to see this, I love shooting my PMR 30, its crazy accurate, but feeding issues are common, if you put several layers of painters tape across the magazine notch to increase its size it holds the mag tighter and "almost" eliminates failure to feed. Almost. Instead of several per magazine, you get one per several magazines. I love 22 Mag in a semi auto, looks like I'm trading the PMR on this tomorrow to give one a try!

Based on so many positive reviews and my love of 22 WMR I went ahead and bought a Walther WMP. It cycled flawlessly (CCI 40 gr.), had negligible recoil and a unique mag release(s) however on the downside I quickly noticed that the seriously wide grip required to accommodate the 22 WMR length required that i alter my usual pistol grip to allow my trigger finger to reach the trigger sufficiently. I have average size hands and was able to adjust to this but knew that for EDC or for someone with small hands this wouldn't work too well. This is one helluva big piece for the caliber. The other downside is the rear sight which is notched too wide relative to the front side; let's hope that some aftermarket vendor comes up with a solution soon. Perhaps Walther figured that most buyers would disregard the stock rear sight and invest in a red dot anyway. I've heard that the stock front sight cannot be co-witnessed with a red dot but if that could be addressed the pistols accuracy would be first rate That said it's light years better than the 22 WMR pistol offerings of either KelTec or RIA both of which I owned in the last few years but jettisoned off fairly quickly.

Bought one after watching your video. Was excited after watching this within 15 minutes i located one via internet and phone call I bought one. Was all excited!!! It's a dud. Mine is heading back to Walther. Finally shot it yesterday. I had Failures to feed, failures to fire, one light strike with a round not igniting, and non stop jamming for the first 125 rounds of CCi 40 grain HPs milk carton ammo I fed it. I also had 2 failures to eject. I tried both magazines. They both can loosely move up and down a good 1/4" which imo is 99%.of the problem. The failures to eject and a light primer strike is definitely other issues going on with it.. I cleaned all the plastic buffering that walther used to buffer the parts before I shot it. Walther must sponsor your channel. This pistol will be off the market in no time as well if most of them are like mine. I also installed a venom on it. On my 4th venom. The first three had extra dots a quarter inch away from the main dot that stay lit when the venom is powered off.

I was hung hung up on and called back for for a call back from someone else higher up on the food chain . No calls back but an email showing I can return it to Walther for a refund within 30 days. I Called and was told I had to wait for it to be returned and then re rend it back in for a refund. What a joke. Walther customer service is awful. That’s my first and last Walther.

Did a check on the firearm looked ok desided to try the Winchester again fired one round then the second round blew the rim almost clean off. Did another safety check the gun was fine. Went back to the CCI fired 45 more round and no problems.

Hornady, 30 grain, JHP. 2 rounds did not load properly, re-racked and was fine.
Winchester, 45 grain, JHP, no misfires either. Noticeable plume of smoke.
    * I read the Walther list of recommended ammo, but of course forgot what was recommended, so I got three boxes of different grain ammo to try.
I have a Vortex Venom red dot mounted. There is an impressive fireball with the WMP. The guy in the lane next to me with the AR asked me afterwards what I was shooting that caused the large fireball. I didn’t think it was too loud though.

Received last week. Went to range yesterday the 4th. Put about 150 rounds through the WMP. Only one failure to fire with Federal 50 grain ammo. Also ran two mags of CCI 40 grain HP. RANGE REPORT: I must preface by saying that about a year and a half ago I purchased a Volquartsen Scorpion in .22 WMR. I found it to be incredibly accurate, but completely unreliable. Also after Paul Harrell's comments on his experience with the PMR30, I stayed far away from it. I lost all hope in ever finding a reliable .22 WMR semi-auto pistol. I was fortunate enough to purchase a Walther WMP yesterday. I stripped it down last night and got all of the factory grease out of it. I cleaned it with Balistol. Today I took it to the range kinda holding my breath... I purposely did not take a lot of care in loading the mags (a la PMR30). I shot multiple mags of Critical Defense 45 grains and not one problem. No FTFs or FTEs. It cycled 100% and the spent casings ejected far. The accuracy was spot-on (printing holes in holes and no evidence of tumbling). For a fleeting moment I was thinking that this pistol could replace my 9mm. Anyway this was only my first outing with the WMP, but it seems to be completely reliable. Smiling ear-to-ear. If anyone is having doubts about reliability, you may just be completely surprised.

If this is as reliable as you have stated that is pretty impressive and is definitely a rarity in a semi auto rimfire. I know there is literature available from Walther that lists ammo that they tested and the results varied between manufacturers. If this platform proves to be as reliable as your individual pistol that’s a huge win for Walther

    Okay, looks promising!
There are at least 4 more defensive 22mag rounds that have lower flash than the normal/hunting 22mag rounds.
Must test function & jel test , imo
I like cci tnt for flash 💥& Hornandy defense was least flashy in my limited testing.

Enjoyed this video. I just saw this pistol a few days ago on a website for sale and I'm considering buying for several reasons. 1 being the paddle release and second is that it will shoot almost any weight of 22 wmr. I own a Kel-Tec PMR30 and also a CMR30. While I haven't had any problems with either of them but the only thing that bothers me about the PMR30 is that it feels like a toy. But it is one of my favorite pistols to shoot because of the 30 round magazines that also fit the CMR30.
I do believe after seeing this video that I'm going to have to buy this Walther. And also as you stated in your video I know how loud my PMR30 is but I wear hearing protection so that doesn't bother me. Once again thanks for the great review of this pistol.✌🏻

I had the Rock Island 22 magnum pistol and it was a real disappointment. It wouldn;t cycle the higher grain rounds.I sent it back to the factory and when I got it back over a month later,it still wouldn't cycle those higher grain rounds,so i traded it in.So far the best 22 wmr handgun has always been a revolver.Hopefully this Walther will run well.

I picked the WMR up today, it's my new favorite pistol. Why ? Because it does just about everything very well and the fun factor is off the charts.....Great power considering the cal, very flat shooting, nice and loud, almost NO recoil ( slight concussion blast and fireball) AND it's acceptable for a self defense caliber. This gun is a total joy to shoot, time to stock up on 22 WMR ammo lol

    @jasonkeating9958 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

They seem to go for middle of the road with magazine capacity, the first thought i had was the pmr 30 13 years ago but this is probably better made,
if i had to make a guess i would say that walther developed the new WMP pistol for the European market where 22lr and 22 magnum are more legally available and in more models and variety like 30 round magazine automatics where anything else is a bolt action at best,
and even then getting a bolt action rifle in the uk is very difficult and their are all sorts of legal hurdles and other things like medical reports and mental assessments,
and thats just for a bolt action,22,shotgun ect,
you need that same licence for buying ammunition as well,
even a air rifle over 12 foot pounds energy need a firearm licence,
no chance of hand guns expect with something like a 20" barrel ,
but AR15 pattern 22lr rifles and hand guns in those small calibres are allowed and i think 22 magnum,
so i think ths is a European development gun just being sold in the us for extra sales

I like my Walther hand guns, ppq 22 lr and ppq sc 9mm. This mag seems very reliable but expensive to shoot at today's prices. $.35 -.40 a round not reloadable, .22LR $.10 a round and my 9MM that I reload at todays prices $.20 per round. So for me at this time I see no advantage of purchasing one. The gun itself I would prefer just the button mag release. Thanks for the video.
