      Idk if this Maier is any relation to Bill Maier of Maier racing , but bill built my 289 that I used in 631/2 sprint , back in the early 70’s . One of the things I did was too flair the rear wheel wells , I wanted it to look stock , so the flair never went higher than the trim . Always wanted too move the whole rear end aft between 4-6 inches , the inner panels ( forward ) would jam to big of a tire otherwise . 63 1/2 sprints rule

    Very interesting. My first car was a hand-me-down 63-1/2 Falcon Futura, 2 door hardtop. White with red vinyl bench seats, 170 cu. in. 6 with 3-on-the-tree non-synchromesh trans. I took it to Earl Scheib and got it painted vermilion, which made it look much less mundane. I’m glad to see Falcons getting resto-mod attention. 60 years later their design still looks good.

    I love Falcons. I own a 1-owner (inherited from my grandparents) 61 Falcon wagon. Still has the 170in 6 I put in in 1970. My son and I have a 1980s roller cam 5.0 to put in it. He also has a 64 sedan with a 289. I grew up around SCCA racing. Pete Cordts was a friend who sometimes worked Tech Inspection with me while he was racing his 63 Sprint in A/Sedan and dominated. Then he rebodied it into a 64. And Dominated. I believe that car is vintage racing now. He worked at Shelby at the time. So that helped. In 67 he switched to a 67 Mustang that also was one of the quickest around. My one comment about this video...Get over the donuts. I could do donuts in my 67 Bug with a stock 1600 with just dual Kadron carbs. Donuts don't impress me. Getting down a twisty country road in a hurry or around a race track with a quick lap time does.

    A stock GT 350 made 526 hp. That motor needs oil catchers on the pcv breather lines. Especially on the passenger side. All Coyote based motors blow allot of vaporized oil into the Intake manifold. Great looking falcon nice job! The design and build are top notch.

    • @babaoreally8220
      @babaoreally8220 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes,very high rpm operation,especially if boost is applied,is necessary to prevent oil vapors from contaminating ECU sensors.I opted for one of these when to Stage II Comps and kit in my Whippled 04 Terminator.My boost level was not concerning,but the cams operate at Voo Doo ranges.

    I'm thinking this car 🚙 will create a whole new interest in falcons like what happened with the Chevy 2's and novas and like the guys in the video said it may help create a new chapter in street racers and what's possible to do with a car to make a racer that appears to have come off the showroom floor which is what street racers have been trying to do for years and years the big problem is probably going to be parts availability and prices for the parts

      LOL.. His car is very nice and he has a lot of years developing it and driving it ( and there is no shortage of "Hype" on that one either ;) ,, That said, this car is a track assassin out of the box and will only get better, a lot better.. not to mention the long legs and power of that 8400rpm / 600hp flat plane motor..

      @@rdspeedgarage948 🤣 I agree your car will only get better. All new builds should. However. You said it in your comment and is the very reason I wrote mine. "He has alot of time in his car.". That and the fact your pretty well outgunned now that he has upped his HP. He now boasts a 745hp/803fttq bullet. Good luck pulling him out of apexes. I would love to see a little friendly head to head. Of course,...once you get your car "ready". I could probably help arrange that if your interested. Brent is my uncle. So I could probably help you with that. Just a little friendly competition. 😉👍

    • @rdspeedgarage948
      @rdspeedgarage948  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@theariesexperiment4642 - They are very different cars. The 64 is bigger and wider to start. The 63 is a greater challenge to start with.. HP is not all it takes, chassis dynamics and performance are possibly almost more important.. That is why you will see small cars with 1/3rd the hp smoke high hp cars on a track. Yes our motor is only 600 hp,, which is plenty for now.. this winter that may change...a lot, just need seat time and continued tweaking. While I have road raced for many years, auto-z is somewhat new, so there's that too ;) - Mike Maier really did engineer an incredible chassis.

    • @theariesexperiment4642
      @theariesexperiment4642 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rdspeedgarage948 Yes I agree chassis, suspension, weight bias, downforce and shock set-up are all literally as important. But,.......the horsepower that was raised wasn't raised for bragging rights.lol. It was raised for the power to weight ratio. As you probably know,.....these cars a pretty heavy if left all steel. Brent realized that the power of the car initially,.....did not compliment the performance of the car when under extreme braking and exiting of curves. He also changed the gear ratio as well.
      So,.....through many hours on a computer in a car cad simulation and many equations later,......he had a target # for power. But more importantly,....torque. He got within 43 of the desired hp and 18 of the torque. Which was a huge surprise to everyone. Now the car is as good as it can possibly be we believe. As new technology and new products hit the market,.....I'm sure he will upgrade where necessary. But for now???? He'll take on all comers. Including YOUR best effort. Lol. Just a friendly challenge. That's all. No hurry. And definitelyno disrespect is intended. We simply must ascertain who has the baddest pro touring Falcon on the planet. Shouldn't we???😉LOL
      😉👍

    526hp is what ford claims

      That is true.. This is not a stock engine or configuration. Different exhaust, no cats, custom ECU by Haltec that was extensively tuned., etc. Then you are looking at least 1000+ lbs lighter car....

      Such a beautiful build! Much praise! I have a 59 big back window truck I want to make a gt350r swap. Cheers

    Pretty awesome no doubt but the amount of money spent on that ( I'm sure) and high end builders involved puts it in exotic car territory. Like looking at a Bugatti or something only the infinitely wealthy can afford. Still cool but loses its luster a bit for the average guy and ventures into ridiculous. Not really a Falcon but expertly executed exotic car with style.

      Not really true. While yes, as with any build that required a lot of engineering and countless "build and rebuild' parts & fitment it costs;;; but now that the car is done, Mike Maire now has off the shelf parts based on this at a fraction of the cost.

    Amazing craftsmanship and Maier makes top notch stuff but I think the Coyote motor ruins it. They don't sound right or look right in a classic. A Windsor based stroker would have been more appropriate.

      Not a Coyote. Its a 5.2L flatplane crank Windsor base would be the easier .common route, but not what this car is about.. nothing was easy

    Car is awesome. I just can't get past black or dark "invisible" wheels. I just can't see everybody's obsession with them. It's too trendy and the murdered-out look is too played out. Do something new and different....

      64 Would have been the easier and more common build

    A black car in a dark garage is not the best place to show off bodywork. Couldn’t see anything you were talking about.
