Thanks for the tips Hank. Im looking at purchasing a grill mainly for roasting, grilling steaks and slow cooking beef ribs. What are your thoughts between the PK grill and the weber kettle. Cheers Fitzy from Australia.
Paul Fitz Well Paul, that was easy. I have both, and I’m a big fan of the PK. The only reason to choose the Weber kettle is real estate, the kettle has a slightly larger grill area. On the other hand the PK has an elevated (optional) grill grate, so not sure how much diff in the end. The PK is gonna last a lifetime (literally) due to the cast aluminum shell. I did a PK video very recently that you can check out if curious. Cheers, Hank
@@HanksTrueBBQ Thanks for the quick reply Hank. The size doesn't really matter as i already have a weber q. So i can use both if i need to. Most times im only cooking for 3. But ive recently retired and now i have time i want to start cooking over lump charcoal. I thought i would buy i webber kettle with all the accessories, but then i came across some videos on the pk. Do you think the pk would produce a nice pizza? Thanks heaps Paul
Paul Fitz Well, if we’re talking PK Classic (as opposed to PK360) I personally think it’s just too small. In that case the Weber kettle is a better choice. The same goes for full packer brisket, it’s hard to fit in the PK Classic. The kettle def. has the upper hand there. I bought a used kettle myself, and ordered a Slow ‘N Sear to go with it, you get a lot of bang for the buck that way. And it’s a really nice combo. Tough choices ahead 😄
@@HanksTrueBBQ Thats true, its a pitty its not i bit bigger. The 360 seems a bit expensive to me. Especially here in Australia. I like the weber as well, but i like the thought of cast aluminum. I appreciate you taking the time to give me your opinion. There are so many options. Thank you Paul
Timothy Williams Hi Tim! I’ve bought replacement gaskets for both Big Green Egg and Kamado Joe. Cut them w a pair of scissors to fit. You can buy them from most online bbq stores. Here’s one of them: bbqgaskets.com/
Hi Danny! Yep, I was featured on Baby Back Maniac's "pimp your grill" series. I use several different grills/smokers, and my custom built offset smoker is one of them.
@@HanksTrueBBQ Hello. I sure like your big smoker! I like doing briskets, next would be pork ribs. If I can stay alive long enough, I'd like to build a big one, but a vertical. I will start watching more of your videos up. I like seeing how others do it to give me some ideas. But I like to just watch regardless. Hav a great day.
OSNS Old School New School it’s a local Swedish brand called ‘Clas Ohlson’. Similar to Home Depot in the US. I bought a bunch of them to use for bbq cooking classes.
Hank's True BBQ i was just thinking, since all accesories are ”clipping” on the edge and i have problems geting it airtight. So just wondering if the gasket could ”swallow” the clips and get an improvement.
Ah, now I get it. Yes, either the gaskets will cover the lid attachment, or you can leave a gap there so the gaskets together with the attachments will create a level surface so there are no leaks.
Mod #4 cut a couple grill bars in the middle of the grate towards the ends to enable coal and wood through to the hot coals while cooking
Hakuho Sho I’d rather just buy replacement grates for this cheapo grill. But yes, it would really help.

Hello there Hank; I'd like to give where you can purchase the gasket that you use for your Kettle Grill. Please let me know thank you
Tim

I used the gasket trick also. Love it
Tack för ytterligare en grym video!
Vart har du köpt den sns hållaren du häller i kolet och vattnet i?
Victor Green Kolla AmericanStuff.se, den heter Slow ’N Sear
Great video Hank need to do the gasket mod on my kettle. Thank you
King Kielbasa Yes, it really helps. Have. a smokin’ weekend!
If you modify the grill to install a fan controller, like a Billows from Thermoworks, can you use that with a slow and sear?
Yes, of course. I’ve done that many times, the SnS works great with a fan controller.
You can get narrower widths of BBQ gasket.
Bra tips. Tack Hank!
Har funderat mycket på om jag ska beställaen SnS eller ej... kanske blir så.
Man kan förstås vara utan, men jag tycker den gör livet rätt mkt enklare.
Hello.
I just subbed. I seen you on another channel where he showed you talking about the large smoker you made yourself.

You don't have any issues with the adhesive in that heat?
Nope, not at all. I’m using replacement gaskets for ceramic grills like BGE and Kamado Joe, they’re made for this.
@@HanksTrueBBQ that's what I get for skipping around the video. I probably missed you saying that.
Måste täta min Weber, hittar inte tätningslisten du använder i videon, kan du skicka länken var jag beställer?

Hi what was the grate thermometer you were using and where did you purchase?
Jeevan Sandhu That must be the FireBoard, you can find it at FireBoard.com
great video were did you get the gasket
Thanks, I usually buy replacement gaskets online, for either Big Green Egg or Kamado Joe. I cut them in half lengthwise. Easy peasy :-)
I just use 2 bricks for my slow and sear, some cooks a cheap foil pan of water.
This is a great video! Thanks
What knock off brand is that kettle grill?
OSNS Old School New School it’s a local Swedish brand called ‘Clas Ohlson’. Similar to Home Depot in the US. I bought a bunch of them to use for bbq cooking classes.
What if you have accesories, such as lid holder or weber side table
Staffan Ekdahl That’s always nice to have.
Yes but how does that work with your mods.??
I don’t see any issue. A lid holder doesn’t interfere with any of the mods, and neither does the side table. Or am I misunderstanding your question?

Or...you buy the man himself a beer at your summerhouse and he will fix the gasket for you 😀
Johan Larsson Make that three and we have a deal 😉
Where did u get the gasket?
Tee Eff I bought a kamado joe replacement gasket and cut it in half lengthwise:-)
@@HanksTrueBBQ thanks
Hi! is that the 18" or the 22"? thank you
This is the 22" (57 cm) version.
@@henrikoscarsson4659 Thank you! do you think a 18" would work for smoking or it will be too small for indirect heat?
phernann it will, I’ve done it a few times. At least it works with smaller cuts of meat.
