- Tutorial on controlling DR 202 w/ MPC via midi. I recorded bass line on 202 and everything else on MPC. These 2 make a great combination. Don't sleep on the bass sounds on this thing, sick drums too!

Had to dust off my old DR 202 this year...works very sick with MPC! Dope drums AND bass sounds!!

My first set up. Boss 202 mpc2000xl and a box of records
my entire setup is all external gear. no computer. i have my juno 60, system 1, yamaha dx 7IIfd, tr-8, tb-3, s950, vp-9000, fostex d2424 lv are all connected to my mpc 2000xl with the mpc being the master--all through midi and extensive use of midi thru. midi offset, midi channels, DCB to midi converter. I have SCSI CD rom, HDD, and Glyph storage drives all with SCSI.

Another Dope Vid ... I love classic gear. I just shipped out a Akai S20, Akai DPS12 digital multi track recorder and a Alesis HR16 to my Good friend because he likes to create with classic Hardware. Wish I had the space to Have and get all the gear I always wanted ...Gear junky man!!

My 1st drum machine was a 808 i still have it to this day. Then I got a 2000 and ive been obsessed with gear ever since

my very first drum machine is the roland tr-505. the drum and hand claps are amazing. i still take it out the box and use those from time to time...
Picked up the 16 Pad Scale Manual as a Christmas present for myself. Really good reference tool for beat makers. You're probably gonna spend $5 at a fast food joint anyways, buy this instead. Save your beats and your health.

Dose your mpc have the floppy drive.
Do you save your projects on mpc or do you dump it right away into daw?

3 - yes
4 - I just dump right away into daw or sequence right into daw (even faster workflow)

@4:38 you are mixing an extra sound from the mpc on the same midi ass the bass. How does that work?
the bass was already recorded on the 202 so i was just tweakin it in real time, the extra sound from the mpc wasn't effected at all
Dope vid as normal. Trying to work out how to hook up my sp303 with my mpc 1000? I want to sample through my mpc then add the dope effects from the 303.? So the 303 will send it back to mpc with effects added?
Ryan Mcmahon hmmm....this is just a guess but try hooking up the output of mpc into the mic input of 303, then sample whatever sound u have into the 303 and add effect to it within the 303..Then sample back into inputs of mpc from output of 303...no midi involved

@verysickbeats how do I get the mpc pads to play the Dr groove pads though to make the mpc play the drums from the Dr groove is this possible ?
would have to try using midi from dr to mpc

I turned on this beast after long time and I have problem. when I push any pad on dr. I hear drum and bass sound as well. it s some like layer function or somethin. what I have to do when I wanna stop this function ?

I used to own a DR 202, the problem is the bass and drum sounds are set to the same midi channel, go to midi settings and change the midi channel of one of them. Hopefully you have already figured this out. Peace.
I've watched all your vids man, u r awesome very talented and creative your beats R SICK! More over though I don't have a Mpc per say I do have impc pro on my iPad 2 and mpc element. How much of your techinques can transfer to the devices I use!
All the vids? WOW thank u! From what others tell me, a lot of the techniques do transfer and this comes from guys who use maschine, mv8000, and even FL studio. My goal is to promote concepts more so than how to use a certain piece of gear.
