I think your tutorial is more thorough than the rest. Real nice work. I still would like to know something: do the drums and bass sections have their own respective filter, or do they share one? And also: Can you assign access to the filter to individual parts?
This is great Gwem. I am a few days late in checking this out, but it didn't disappoint! Great job, I really love watching how you work. You really were on fire, but to me, you always are! Thanks for sharing Gwem! I am glad I have these to look forward, until Feb. 2022! =D
It helped a lot that the DR-202 is a good unit. I was impressed by it. Certainly sounds better than other grooveboxes of its era. Thanks for the comment!
This thing sounds great! I assume hooking it up via midi to something like a beatstep pro is possible and would the bass and drums be on separate midi channels?
The DR-202 is great but the lack of delete on the bass part and external midi part is a HUGE pain in the arse. Would also have been nice to have a backlit display.
Please give and advice: What instrument is better: BOSS DR-202 or BOSS DR-3? Here in Mexico i can buy DR202 for about 1.5 times tne amount of the DR-3. Is there a good investment? Thank You
This was my first piece of music gear (aside from guitar stuff), with an SP202. Worked all summer in a theme park for them, lolz. Obvs it was a budget unit aimed at DJs but it's a shame - if they'd left off all those cheesy presets and given the memory over to user patterns, it would be seen these days as a much more serious machine, coz it sounds great. Diving in and eiting the sounds significantly and making your own kits is key. In my naivety, I was expecting to immediately sound like Homogenic...but I was able to get some dusty DJ Shadow-type breaks and mental Aphex clicky shizz going with it. Coz of the limited user memory tho, when I played a live set, I'd have to have a Yamaha MDF2 data filer to load tracks from coz it could only hold a couple at a time. Great unit tho. I consider it the SP1200 of drum machines, due to the magic digital dust over the ROM samples!
The best DR-202 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
it is a great box :)

It has a cool rotary control where you can select individual parts or useful combinations of them for the filter

I’ve never tried it, but I also presume so. It really does sound good :)

I don’t miss the delete, but it is screaming for a backlight!!

The DR-202 has a lot more features than the DR-3. I would pick that for sure.

There is something really nice about the ROM samples, so much texture! (magic dust?). I just wish that display had a backlight.
@@gwEmbassy Yeah, I had to take a torch for live, lolz.
Super informative thank you
You’re welcome Roisin
Fun synth, I’ve had this since I was a kid, very tricky but it’s a good gem
Yes, it is a gem. I clearly prefer it to the MC-303 etc
1900 or so.. Ye nailed it 👍
