    Once I seen the mixed drums floppy disk and the two little scratches at the bottom. I realized I just bought your MPC 2000. What a coincidence that these are the first tutorials I am watching 😂.

    I got tired of spending money on computer programs to flip tracks. Tired of systems crashing. Copped me a old school mpc and this tutorial, man... it made me realize how much of a beast this old school machine is. Your tutorial put me in a position to dam near master this machine in a couple of hours. You really did a great job with explaining and simplifying how to dig into the functions. You are truly appreciated man!
    GREAT JOB !!!
    Thank you!

    Hey man, thanks for these tutorials, they are very concise and easy to follow.
    I really appreciate the help and I'm sure a lot of other people do too, so big up to that.
    Just wondering if you you could do one on the basics of step editing?
    I'm trying to work that out at the moment and haven't found a video on it.
    Once again, thanks for the time and energy you've put into helping others out.
    Nice one.

      +Shlomo Shekelmaster Yes, you can save multiple songs/projects/programs on one zip disk. I believe you can save about 15-20 full projects on 1 disk depending on how many samples and sounds you use per song.

  • @mathewgodfather
    @mathewgodfather 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    hi, will it split the different sounds by saving the beat like this, in order to mix them in a computer? Also is it enough with the memory of the floppy to save an entire beat?
    Thanks for your tutorials, you are beeing very useful to me

    • @Kwelar
      @Kwelar  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Mathew - La Kaverna In order to mix the sounds, you need to record them into the computer to their own individual tracks.
      Usually, one floppy is not enough to save an entire beat. You'll need to use a few floppies or you can get a scsi drive and some zip disks. Zip disks can save about 15-20 full beats.

    If I can throw this out there as Well, I'd like to see a video maybe of how to connect both (not at the same time) a "real" keyboard with MIDI as well as a MIDI "controller" styled keyboard that uses the computerbased synth sounds. Like how either keyboard style works with the mpc 2000. If that makes any sense?

    hey, i don't have a zip disk in my disk drive. Is it possible to "keep" something with out a zip disk? Thanks

    • @Kwelar
      @Kwelar  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +lacuevadelvampiro No. You need to have a floppy disk or a zip disk in, to save on the mpc. You don't need a disk if you sample something and don't plan on saving it, though.

      If I have a Compact Flash drive do I save a project onto that?

    • @Kwelar
      @Kwelar  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Robert Lancey I think it's the same process with a flash drive as it is with a zip drive. You go into disk mode and save your project and/or sounds to whatever form of memory you are using like zip, floppy, compact flash, etc.

  • @LivingwithoutAir912
    @LivingwithoutAir912 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I followed the instructions, at least I think so. But when I restarted the MPC and loaded my floppy with my sequence, all the tracks (kicks, snare, hi hat, etc,) were consolidated into one track. Is there a way around this or did I do something wrong?

    • @Kwelar
      @Kwelar  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Conrad Gonzalez Not sure.. Along with saving your sounds and sequences, did you save a program too? A program is basically all the information used in your beat such as the bmp, the specific pads where you assigned your sounds to, any effects or volume changes, etc.

    Can you save more then 1 song per partition or can you only save 1 ?

    • @Kwelar
      @Kwelar  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With zip disks you can definitely save more than 1 project per partition. I used to save up to 20 projects per disk.

    So what if you run out of space on your disc and you put in a new disc. Shouldn't you format it 1st? And if so, can you go back and format it without losing what you just made?

    • @Kwelar
      @Kwelar  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +dray10talents Yes, you have to format the disk first before you save on it. If you already have stuff saved on it, you can't reformat it without losing what you had saved on it before.

    Can i save samples on the original akai sound card zip disk? The one that comes in the mpc already.

    • @Kwelar
      @Kwelar  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael Parrish You probably can. I wouldn't do it just because you run the risk of over writing the OS file on the start up disk. I'd keep the OS file on its own disk just to be safe.

    • @Bigbootiemike
      @Bigbootiemike 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea cuz i've tried saving some samples onto it and it just says "write protect". I know I can get floppy disks on ebay or amazon, but i'm kinda thinking what's the point if these things are just obsolete nowadays anyways. Is there anything else I can install in place of that zip disk drive? Thanks.

    • @Kwelar
      @Kwelar  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've seen an mpc 2000 with a flash card drive installed. I'm pretty sure you can find the parts over at mpcstuff.com.

  • @dariusdavis6508

    Are there any other means of saving? A usb flash drive perhaps?

    • @Kwelar
      @Kwelar  10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      As far as saving on or with the MPC itself, no, unless you upgrade the MPC and install a flash card drive.
      To be honest I don't really save anything on floppy or hard disk anymore. I've lost sooo many beats using floppies because they can easily become corrupt and just stop working sometimes for no reason.
      What I do now is just record 4 bar loops of every instrument, sample, etc.; to separate tracks in my DAW and arrange the loops in there and save my beats there also. That way I can store all of my project files on an external hard drive.
      I'm not sure about saving multiple projects on a floppy disk due to limited memory but if your using zip disks you definitely can.
      Hope that helps, Peace!
