- Hey guys. In this video, I'll dust off the memories of this trusty workhorse called HP ProDesk 600 G3. This machine, powered by Intel's reliable processors, offered a balance of performance and efficiency that catered to the professional's needs. Its compact size and various form factors made it versatile, fitting neatly into any workspace while delivering the power required for everyday tasks. But what about today? Can the ProDesk 600 G3 keep up with the demands of modern computing? The answer lies in the exciting opportunities for upgrades that have emerged over the years. I'll explore how adding more memory can enhance multitasking, swapping in a solid-state drive can breathe new speed into the system, and even consider the potential for adding a dedicated graphics card for gaming.

Great Help mate.
Great video, it helped me very much
*Great video, I have upgraded a lot of these office machines, with 1050TI or 1650, I have also used Quadro cards as well.*
What is better a 1050ti lp or 1650lp?

great video!
I have the same. Still have to upgrade it tho
Can you add links to the products that you added to the device?
Any chance anyone knows if this motherboard allows for bifurcation of the PCIe x16 slot?
What were your fortnite settings? I've never seen 150-200fps on 1050ti, not even close.
I just bought a
hp elite desk G4 800 with a
i7-8700
Gtx 1080
32gb RAM
1TB ssd + 1TB hdd
500w
For $500. I’m praying it isn’t garbage. Comes in next week.

@@Beliveinsmile pretty sick so far.
That's a lot
@@SolidNate99 lot of what? Money?
How on earth did you manage to install 1080 on an SFF with 180w PSU? 😮
is it possible to install a Thunderbolt 3 card on this PC ?
Nice video. Can you tell if the psu is a typical TFX sized one that can be replaced? Or is it something OEM with special pins?
Most of those HP ProDesks I found have only a 180W PSU and I think it wouldn't be enough to handle it if I add an GTX 1050 Ti, right?
I think it's a proprietary HP power supply. I wouldn't try to change it
@@NerdyThrowbackTech @NerdyThrowbackTech They actually sell up to 500W versions of this propriety power supply. I have a newer HP desktop in the same form factor (a Pavilion TP01 with a 5700G that comes with the 180W version of this PSU) and have been looking in to them a bit in case I need better graphics in the future. edit: the model nr. for the 500W version is HP L05757-800. Cheers!
Hey i hope you'd reply but i wanted to say that i love your videos also i have a question:
what GPU do you recommend for my HP Prodesk 600 g1 twr? i also have a intel i5 4570 3.20Ghz what GPU do you recommend for me that can run lot of games like Devil may cry 5 or VRCHAT?
Probably everything up to NVIDIA GTX 1660 or the AMD Radeon RX 580. Newer GPUs will be bottlenecked. But it depends of the power supply too.
is 240 Watt good?@@NerdyThrowbackTech
hi! I am going to have this unit and I was wondering if the graphics card is only limited to the 1050TI? Are there any better cards for the unit? I have Intel core I7, and 16 gb for RAM. thanks!
1050 Ti is a good choice. The card must be a low profile build, so it can fit. Another option is GeForce GTX 1650 or Radeon RX 6400
Can i add a gtx 1660 super ? Or will it crash ?? @@NerdyThrowbackTech
Will cpu temperature above 70°C damage the PC? Im getting consistent 70s during medium to heavy loads.
no cpus don't thermal throttle until 95-100. below 80 is excellent
I have an HP Prodesk 400 G4 MT with an i5 6500 processor and 12 GB RAM. I want you to advise me on a graphics card that is suitable for the size of the computer case. Thank you.
You need a low profile graphics card. Something like GeForce GT 730 or GT 1030
@@NerdyThrowbackTechI prefer 1030 over other one. Just be sure picking the GDDR5 variant though.
Good video. I wonder.. If a M.2 pcie ssd/adapter could run on a pcie x1 slot. Booting from it might be the tricky part. That way you could could use a 6 or 8 pin adapter for a video card from the sata cable.. I have a Dell SFF with a 240W psu that I did this with and I ran a gtx 1060 6gb on it with an i5 cpu during the mining boom. It ran for 3yrs straight. (It still works, I just turned it off). If it worked then maybe you could put a gtx 1650 Super or a 1660 seies card. 🤔
just get a better motherboard with a new case eventually ...
4060?
I have the same pc, but I can't seem to find the motherboard model, do you know which one is it?
And if so, could you paste some link with specs? Thx
It's a HP motherboard. They don't share information about their motherboards.
So, how could I know if a component is compatible with the motherboard?
I thought about buying the small form factor version but there’s no way to just slap any GPU in it easily maybe if I cut the case or something and use a sata to pcie adapter I can run a 140w RX 580
How did you solve overheating caused by the case build design?
did u find the solution plz reply
@@Beliveinsmile how about try to swap thermal paste?
@@Samsul1. i want to buy it but that guy is making me have doubts about it
@@Beliveinsmile What is the normal temperature of your CPU or GPU?
I have a HP ProDesk 400 G3 MT with a i5-6500 processor and 8Gb RAM and integrated GPU (slow Intel HD graphics 530 LOOLLLL)...What should I upgrade for cheap and good please ? Second hand is ok for me. THanks
Upgrade to 16 gb ram and get an rx 550 4gb low profile , rx 6400 or 1050 ti low profile and if you can afford more try a 1650 low profile

Is this setup worth $83 USD? HP Elitedesk 705 G4 MT / Ryzen 5 Pro 2400G / 512 M.2 SSD / 16GB Memory / Fully Reset with Win 10 Pro / Power Cord Included. Super clean and nice working machine.
Have got the same PC paired with RTX 2060 now the fan makes noise when gaming
did you change the power supply or you still have the same that comes with the hp prodesk 600 g3
What about his psu it looks liek he kept the base on and thats a 250W isnt he gonna kill the pc or is that not how it works
Bro why didn't you put an nvme?
That is weird, he not try to install nvme
Are quadro p2000 work great at that pc?
P2000 is a full height card. You would have to get a T600 which is low profile… but if you have a dual slot then a 3050 is available in low profile. It’s a gimped version but faster than a 1060 in retrospect. It’s just a little slower than a 1070 where a regular 3050 is just a little faster than a 1070
@@mattdudley3789 about P2000, just to the point

Nice cheap PC
Why do People insist on this as a solution? Throwing $600 at this $50 machine still leaves you with ancient proprietary HP crap!
Because it is cheap...And the video card is second hand and very cheap, so it remains all cheap... And it works very good and fast.
