During the wet season, Yunnan is filled with various colors. Even the fungi have different colors. After a rainy night, the next thing to do is to pick some fungi in the mountains. They come in various colors and great tastes. I picked many different fungi in the mountains and stew them all together. The fungi hot pot is very refreshing. What a happy taste.
(Due to geographic variation, edible fungi may differ. Most raw wild fungi are poisonous. Please do not eat them raw!

Yunnan is famous for its collection of mushrooms, so the local knows what is poison and edible or not. Like the "Jian Shou Qing" mushroom in this video is poisonous and can induce hallucination if not well cooked. But even experienced locals sometimes ended up in hospital with mushroom poison every year during the mushroom season. So for all the kids watching this episode, please just enjoy the video, the scenery, the cooking, don't pick any random mushroom outside your house or on the road

Jackson King my bf is from Yunnan he always shared with me these info. and every year i hear news online about people getting hospitalized by eating random mushroom. So... for ordinary people its best to only eat mushroom from proper vendors. Some mushroom poison can be fatal without antidote
If its white and the gills are brown, it's likely ok, never pick the pretty ones
@@kaliwatson3948 no, some of the most deadly mushroom is white/brown and looks harmless (like Amanita phalloides, aka Death Cap mushroom). All those common sayings to teach you how to differentiate poison mushrooms by colors/taste are just like stereotypes towards mushrooms. The best solution is don't eat wild mushroom unless you are 100% sure what are you picking and how to cook it. A lot of mushroom poison case happened when people mistaken some wild poison mushroom as a similar edible type. So, NEVER judge a mushroom by its cover

It's more like a tradition for many many many years. People there used to live on those things, so they learned how to protect it and make it sustainable.

Never had seen such variety of dishes with mushrooms. Really enjoyed watching you search it in the woods and then making delicacies. It's just a bee lol , don't know about u , but I'm more worried of hornets and wasps.. bees are usually tiny and their poison isn't much.. got bit by one , doesn't hurt that bad , got stung by wasp tho , that hurts as heck

Yup you guess it right, most of the mushrooms are poison. But they handling the mushroom in some special way to detoxify it, but there are still many people were sent to hospital due to food poisoning. So people are adviced not to take the mushroom like Yunnan people. It's dangerous.

I m from Bhutan but work and live abroad, and watching this makes me miss my country and childhood more. I would often go to the mountains during monsoon to collect variety of mushroom and would often end up getting at least 5 different kind. Then my mom would cook it for lunch or dinner. We never had to buy mushrooms. I miss that.!

The proper way to pick mushrooms is to cut it above the root so it can grow back again ... so this is really not respecting the nature by padding back some soil from elsewhere ... no offense tho I love her videos

It reminds me of my childhood. We lived in the city but drove to the farm my uncle owned. It was his farm, but my cousins, I, and his brothers and sisters helped when we could. It never seemed like work; it was enjoyable, relaxing... just like these videos.

I never was able to truly learn my original heritage due to being adopted at a young age by Americans. I do love my life now but I wish I had more ties to my ethnicity and my heritage. These videos have really helped find a sense of belonging
