Thanks for posting this. The acting is amazing. Seeing how seriously they treated this rape just saddens me to think of what rape stories have become on soaps.
If only every sexual assault victim could count on this kind of support and emotional sensitivity after something so traumatic. Andrew and Cassie were so kind, patient and understanding with her, as was Sheila, the doctor and Claire the police detective. What happened to Marty was horrible, but she was very lucky to have such nice friends and resources to help her.
@mac020507 agreed. This was incredibly well acted. Marty is clearly is shock and barely holding it together and its heartbreaking how she seems almost embarrassed by her own fear and vulnerability in these scenes. Very rare to see young actors with this kind of talent these days.
I think Marty is in shock and just can't believe that 24 hours ago she was just going to a party. SH played these with such raw emotion. I just want to give her a hug! Nora should have witnessed this, then tell Marty that she is "making it up"
I agree with the both of you it takes me back to when Andrew told Cassie how this hard tough girl act is a scam. Even Viki said it to her, and told her to let the real Marty Saybrooke out. So she was embarrassed at this point, it was like she was saying "I'm Marty the Party Girl, the troublemaker, how could I let something like this happen to me, what are people going to say to know that I couldn't fight back." She was afraid to breakdown, that is why it finally came out in the shower.
I hate Todd so uch because of what he did to Marty, but there's no denying how amazingly Roger Howarth played this role. I can't imagine how difficult it would be to play such a character.
I just watched an interview with Michael malone as he is a professor at Duke University and he talked about Marty and how good storytelling interweaves all characters and the main character s actions should affect as many people as possible on the canvas. The rape storyline beautifully was spun from the previous homophobia storyline where Marty was lying about Andrew and Billy. it sets up beautifully if she can be believed this time a known liar is she crying wolf again? Malone was a genius as was the ep Linda gotlieb. when she left in 94 the stories got a little sloppy according to some fans . gotlieb believed a story arc should last 3 months but the ramifications should last forever
@@renealexander2703 yea but this was a reflection of the early 90s. This storyline was brilliantly done b/c it was done as serious as possible to real life. I do recall when Powell was revealed as the hospital rapist fans were starting to get upset about all " the dark rape " stuff. The thing was Micheal Malone was a novelist & he told stories in a very long format. He saw soaps as a way to do this. Yes actors also complained that while he wrote well he told one long story at a time. Once Todd apologized to Marty & she touched his scar & said goodbye that should have been a moving on point. Then gottlieb was gone as well as Griffith Malone 's right hand man.
@mimi342901 I agree. I only started watching OLTL around the time Todd (Victor) was raped by Margaret. I never saw this storyline. I have to say I didn't like how they made Marty end up but I'm glad she got to be with Patrick and a chance to put her life back together in the end. I'd like for them to show how she is now before the show ends, but I don't think they'll do that.
SH is such an incredible actress. She does such an awesome job of displaying the diffrent emotions that Marty was feeling.

So disturbing because she looks like a baby when you look at her face. She's so incredibly young, She looks far younger than 18

I'm very impressed at how realistically this was filmed.

The show was depressing and dark around this time.

Right, I showed that at the beginning of this clip so everyone can see how out of control Todd was.
God,susan is such an amazing actress and i hate what they did to martys character at the end-making her crazy like that!
Valerie Pettiford has such presence. I miss seeing her on TV.
@CarlD2
Not to mention how vile it was of them to redeem Todd to the point where he was some sort of romantic anti-hero.
Vick, thank you so much! I have been dying to see these clips! Thank you! Thank you!
The decision to transform Todd into a romantic lead is one of the reasons Roger Howarth left the role.
And one of the reasons I won't watch any episodes after 1994.
@@luzycat7869 I dont blame you
I don't blame him. It was disgusting.
@@luzycat7869 , I feel the same way.
Although I do totally understand why Roger didn't want them to make Todd and Marty a couple
This was hard to warch. I can't imagine how they felt acting it!!!

Omg I loved when shelia said " this time we are on your side " in contrast to the rapists only hours ago. Such little details hit u
@VickRobCal Yes and thank you for showing it in the beginning! :)
Oh, and loved the REAL Sheila in these clips!
Where is Cassie??
Todd: I'm invincible. Nothing is ever going to get in my way!
ROFL!
