    Oh my gosh! You did it. My husband was ready to head to Costco for a new dryer and I said, "hold up, let me just check real quick to see if there's a video on TH-cam that has some suggestions for troubleshooting." Not only did I find your video on TH-cam showing how you fixed the 'no start' issue on our exact brand of dryer....but you made a tutorial video that covered all the right points of "how to." Easy enough that we were able to follow, order the part from Amazon that arrived the next day, install the part...and VOILA....it works! Thank you so much for taking the time to pass along your knowledge!

    Your video was very helpful and guided me so that I could fix this myself. I knew it was probably the switch because the light had not been coming on for several weeks (but the dryer was still working until this past weekend), but I didn't know how to go about making the repair. Your video also encouraged me to go ahead and order a fuse with the switch to have it on hand because that is probably the next thing that will fail. Thank you.

    Nice video! Well delivered and straight forward. It was nice to see the testing of the thermal devices as well. If you had just done the lid switch some people would be upset if the lid switch did not solve the problem. Nice to see nearly all things tested. An uncommon item that may cause the same problem is the push button to start the dryer.

      The light on mine also went off and the dryer continued to work for another half year or so. A couple of times I opened the door and the dryer continued to spin. today it stopped working. I thought it might be related to the door switch, should’ve looked online and try to fix it but now it’s out on the street for garbage pickup now. Shoot.
      Do all dryers stop working because of this or just Maytag ones. Seems like a good way to get people to buy a new dryer. I’ve had mine for 10 years though.

So I hit the start button and the dryer worked? I started vacuum up all the lent on the back panel and it was pretty plugged up so maybe the motor got hot and shut down. Good new was I found almost five dollars in coins.

      Home Depot won’t have the thermal fuses. You can get them a an appliance parts store or order them online. You will need your model number. It’s most likely the door switch that is bad. Feel the lever on the switch and see if it flops around. The thermal fuses usually go when the dryer is full of lint.

    I am not sure I know how to use the meter properly but if I'm checking continuity and I read zero ohms...doesn't that mean the circuit is open? Also when I looked at your meter...I thought I saw movement or reading when you checked each of the other switches? Please help and thank you

    • @fixthemthings
      @fixthemthings  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zero ohms means a short which means the circuit is good. It’s just like touching your leads together. If it’s say less than 10ohms then they are probably good. If your meter reads OL or a very high number then the devices are bad. The problem with these dryers is almost always the door switch unless your exhaust pipe is plugged up. If it’s plugged up then it could overheat causing fuse failures. Hope that helped.

    I have the same model. Any suggestions as to why after about 10 minutes it turns off? Not all of the time. But most of the time it does. Sometimes I can turn the timer alert to the on position while pushing the knob to start it in and start it. Sometimes I have to wait about 20 minutes.

      Sounds like the thermal is getting too hot and switching off. Check you piping going to the outside. Is there sufficient flow. If not clean the pipes out. Must be flow problem.

      @@theblimpgamrrjaris5511 if I’m reading that correctly it sounds like it is good. It is most likely the door switch that is bad due to slamming the door.

      Your dryer vent hose must be plugged up and needs to be cleaned out. Look outside at vent and see if it is blowing outside. If not, do not run the dryer until it is cleaned out. You don’t want a fire. Hope that helps.

    • @ellalee430

      @@fixthemthings Yes that's the reason it has blown so many times. Stupid design of my apartment has the dryer vent hose going straight up to the attic but I have no access point and there's no vent anywhere on the side of the house. I swapped out the thermal fuse again and it ended up working thank goodness. I just need to make sure and get a renters insurance probably on Monday morning

    I change my thermal fuse like suggested in the video because my dryer wasnt turning on ...now it is working again but i have a weird noise kinda scared to leave it running any idea was it is causing this noise 😢 ? Is it because i put back the wires wrong way in the new thermal fuse ?
