    Thanks for the video, nice job! It’s my understanding that the vacuum port inside the choke housing should be plugged to prevent vacuum leaks. I installed my electric choke just you did in the video. I did a smoke test to check for vacuum leaks and the only leak was around the electric choke. So now I’m going to plug that port to prevent vac leaks.

    Just bought this kit! I believe the original set up was for a divorced choke and when they replaced the carb way back before I got it they were given a hot air style choke, so this seemed the best/cheapest fix thanks for the great video!

    • @QuadrajetPowerLLC
      @QuadrajetPowerLLC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Divorced choke system has the heating element mounted on the intake and heated by exhaust crossover. Connected to the carb with a rod. Choke and carb and separate so the divorced name.
      Hot air choke is mounted on the quadrajet and heated by hot air piped in to the choke housing.

    Good video. Any idea what could cause the choke flap to not want to close? With the choke turned all the way to where it stops moving the choke closed, I can manually push it an 1\8th inch more to fully close it, but it doesn't want to stay there, moves open 1\8th inch again. Even with choke screws loose and turned fully rich. After engine cools, even with choke unplugged, the choke flap stays fully open. Have to manually knock it closed.

    • @QuadrajetPowerLLC
      @QuadrajetPowerLLC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Make sure the components move freely and in the proper position. The fast idle cam should move easily up and down when installed. Sounds like you have something binding.

      Onto the next issue which is slightly wet gasket at the top. Think the float level maybe too high.

    Wiring question. Bought the conversion kit yesterday and looking for the delivery. The conversion unit uses 1 (one) hot wire that requires 12v. I'd like to tap into the old sending wire to power the choke. Why is there no ground connection on these units like those used on Holley or Edelbrock carbs.

    • @QuadrajetPowerLLC

    • @QuadrajetPowerLLC

      You can set up the choke and adjust on the bench, but need to verify proper operation after installed in engine. Electric choke does not draw much amperage.

    • @QuadrajetPowerLLC

      It can be attached with everything in place. You have to slide rod down and hook it in the actuator hole. It is a little tricky, but can be done. Make sure fast idle cam is down so actuator is up at highest point.

    Okay so i just recently bought a 1986 k10 that has been converted to electric choke it looks like but still had the hot air stuff hooked up. Well i decided to delete the hot air tubing and egr on that side of the manifold and figured the electric choke would still work but it doesn't. How do i test the electric choke element? And should i have the little gasket between the element and the choke housing? Where does it ground? I tried it both ways. And yes i have 12v supplied.

    • @QuadrajetPowerLLC
      @QuadrajetPowerLLC  ปีที่แล้ว

      It should not have the gasket, it grounds to the body. Plug all of the vacuum ports. Apply the full 12v and make sure the choke is operating. If it doesn't you may need to replace the element.

    I bought a 1981 Camaro with a 350 that is not the original engine. It has a Quadrajet with hot air choke but the hose is not on the choke mechanism. Just the nipple sticking out. And it's not capped either. I also noticed after driving for a while that the choke plate doesn't fully open. I have no idea where the hose from the choke would connect to the engine.
