Just discovered this video and your channel and this video is really cute! You and your grandma! I took the myheritage test about 4 years ago and considered taking the 23andme test ever since, but haven’t yet. But it’s much more detailed. Pretty sure neither of them is 100% accurate (esp. regarding the percentages), but still I think you always learn a lot, either about your heritage, and if the test’s more detailed than even about other stuff affected by dna. (I’m just not sure if I want to learn about diseases and/or “gene defects” that either I might be more susceptible to or that I might carry in my genes. 😳 I know it can sometimes be helpful to know, but rather be scary and make you worry more. But other than that, there’s a lot of stuff one can learn about themselves and find explanations for things they noticed but didn’t know the reasons for (in your case, the chewing thing and the cilantro-tastes-like-soap-thing and the holding-on-to-stuff-thing (which I might have as well 😜)). + your grandma’s lesson is so beautiful and important, to always keep in mind. 😍
Stumbled across this video looking for DNA tests for Hispanic ancestry (I'm half Colombian myself 👀) Such a sweet grandma! And very cool results! Now I'm really curious about mine. 저도 한국에 관심에 있어요 ㅎㅎ
I don't think it's an even 50-50 because some kids look more like one side or the other. Probably depends on the blend for each child. I guess that's why siblings look similar, and some can look very alike, whereas others look quite different. The basic science of ancestry and gene selection we learn in school up to 16 years isn't quite how genetics really is. This video has made me curious. And isn't it strange just how much of a difference there is between her and her grandmother. Which I suppose makes sense considering that her grandmother would be around a quarter of her genetics.
Your features probably comes from your Spanish ancestry because I saw it say that it’s from Asturias, España 🇪🇸 which is in the north. And blonde or reddish hair is more common in northern Spain 🇪🇸 because the Spaniards of northern Spain are of Celtic descent. Celtics of Ireland originated from Northern Spain many years ago. My Galician side are all blonde and blue/green eyed.
Spaniards are celtiberians. Most part have Brown hair (from Light Brown to almost Black hair). Some spaniards have blond hair (same proportion in north and south, only I think there are more red heads in Galicia), but they are a minority as other nations in Southern Europe. You can only find lots of blondes in Scandinavia (not all the people). All Europeans usually have Brown hair.
Beautiful grandma! Words of wisdom I agree with her I feel that doing our DNA shows us how we are all pretty much the same. At the end of the day we are family. I feel it is a good way for people to humble themselves and realize that there is no such thing as a one kind for the majority of us are a beautiful mixture of many varieties of cultures. Lovely video thank you for sharing.🙏😍
Your dad is from the Caribbean, of course you're going to have some black ancestry, even if it's just a little bit. Also, your North African ancestry likely comes from the Canary Islands. A lot of Spaniards who immigrated to Puerto Rico came from the Canary Islands, and the average Canarian is 20% Arab/North African.
My Grandma explained this to me too! My dad has not been in my life, so I wasn't sure what parts of my DNA I would get from him, hence the shock of African and other ethnic results. Thanks for your comment!
@@jmtrevijano9160 Also in Todays Canary Islands there is now Native American ancestry because of reverse migration btw Cuba & Puerto Rico and other S.American countries. So those Canarian people can look totally like Latin American mestizos... Anyways If yall wanna see what pure Spanish family looks like watch Verdeliss DNA results they score 100% Iberian
It's true! Most part of Canarians have significantly Higher north African DNA (bereber/guanche) than spaniards from Peninsula and lots of latin americans have Canarian ancestry. I'm from Spain (Andalusia) and I had results 100% European (mainly west part). I saw on internet videos of spaniards and have a high iberian DNA (usually 60-100%) and a few proportion of other countries, for example Italy (Roman empire?), north Africa (Cartagho o Al-Andalus?), british, jewish, central-Europe, south slavic, middle Eastern...). I think future spaniards Will be more mixed for recent immigrations. I also saw videos of North African People with iberian ancestry (iberians muslims expelled in the Reconquista?). My maternal haplogroup showed lots of traces found in Northern Europe. My father has taken the same DNA test years before and he had about 16% African, 70% Spanish, etc. I definitely inherited a lot of the southern parts from him.
East Asian & Indigenous American is something that many South American get. It does not necessarily mean the genes come from Asia but the ancestors of the South American ancestors share these genes with a common ancestor of the Asian.
