      @@Temptation666 Personally, I think part of the reason wasn't great in S.11 is because the material was so damn shallow. It's like, I could see her TRYING to sink her teeth intosome episodes, but the scripts were so empty. Here, she finally had a great actor to play off (Sasha) and it looks like they're giving her a deeper, more personal story line to react to. Don't want to spoil it for you, though. Not certain if it measures up to the previous stuff yet, but it's certainly feels like Dr. Who again, as opposed to just random derivative sci-fi. I hope you enjoy it.

    I want Omega to come back n The Other to be addressed. Be awesome in Chibnall does that I thought John Hurt was The Other to start with ..

    • @claireeyles7560
      @claireeyles7560 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The child in the flashback/memory of The Doctor looks like she's dressed in a similar style to the Sisterhood of Karn, who of course as the Pythians were the original rulers of Gallifrey. What if the Pythian Curse of sterility was the lie perpetuated by the Timelords to justify the use of the looms so they could gain more control over Gallifrey, maybe The Doctor in the incarnation of The Other tried to reveal the truth? And don't forget some of the novelisations have womb born children on Gallifrey in the times of the curse being either put to death, or aborted, because they were conceived/born outside the looms, so what if The Master had a family that happened to, like a son or daughter, or a pregnant wife that he lost because of the whole 'we only breed through looms' thing and he's now remembered what he lost and the fact that it was based on a lie. Just some thoughts off the top of my head, but yeah I am definitely getting Cartmel Masterplan vibes from this storyline and I can't wait to see where they go with it.

    9:55 that was heartbreaking. The utter silence. We need more of this from Jodie for her actor to work with the role of the Doctor. She try’s to be loud and scary but it results in being, let’s be honest, a bit cringe. We need less talking and just doing, her facial expressions say a lot.
    Like with her sitting on the Tardis console in silence, perfection.

    • @Seth-fg4ho
      @Seth-fg4ho 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Exactly. She spent the last seasoning running around all shit happy and occasionally becoming slightly irritated, and that's all the scripts offered. I love that she's showing some of the more introspective darkness of the character. She finally has some material with substance.

    • @WHO_is_on_first
      @WHO_is_on_first 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @Seth-fg4ho 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@WHO_is_on_first That worked okay, if I recall. But the past 4 doctors have all had a deep darkness inside them, and they all dealt with it in their own ways. Hopefully we can see her do the same. Unlike some others, I think she CAN do it if the give her the material.

    • @drd2121
      @drd2121 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Seth18 if you recall, in Spyfall Part 1. I don’t mind at all because at the end of the day this is the Doctor we are on about but when she said “I’m really hard to get rid of Mr Barton”, it just wasn’t intimidating. Imagine instead, she had a blank, motionless expression then with a murderous smirk she leant towards him and whispered “I’m not going anywhere”

    • @Seth-fg4ho
      @Seth-fg4ho 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@drd2121 That's a fair point. Her Doctor tends to come off as a bit naive. She almost feels younger and more idealistic than any of her previous incarnations. She fun on the outside, but needs depth under the surface. Someone else mentioned this... I appreciated the empty, heartbroken look at the end of Spyfall Pt2, when she saw Gallifrey, but it might have been nice if it led to a moment of rage, like at the end of 8 when Capaldi realized Missy lied to him about Gallifrey. Would have meant a lot to her character if she flipped out when the companions weren't around. Maybe suggested that she's repressing her darker part.

      Interestingly, shooting on S11 finished late in 2018 (October?) and they started filming Spyfall in January 2019, so most of it - perhaps all of it - would have been written long before the bulk of S11 had even aired. They might have been able to make a few last-minute changes in tone based on feedback from the earlier episodes of S11, but nothing major I'd imagine.

    Torchwood Boy, I believe The Master and The Doctor are fragments of one person based on same wordings The Master gave. "We are not Whole" is one. And that person is The Other.
    The Founders were said work together to create the Gallifrey we knew. But
    Rassilon used Omega The Other and The Woman (my theory, which being those females we see make The Doctor pause and stare in the episode 10th was going to shoot Rassilon and Capaldi return to Gallifrey) to be like a god.
    Rassilon split The Other and made The Woman like a nanny for a family to keep his control. Even with him dying in the classic, he never intended it to be temporary.
    I say The Woman was involve because she was The Doctor's family nanny for many generations. And some reason she agree to marry him? Why? Unless she knew who he was!
    And The Master and The Doctor cannot die without the other. They survive the impossible. Cheat death so many times sometimes assumed with regeneration. No? And if so, that means the universe can't consider someone literally half death. They have to be 100% alive or 100% dead.

    I haven't seen season 11 except for the first episode which played at movie theaters, here, so these two episodes are my first look at the new console.
    So, there's a giant crystal throbbing up and down in the middle of the console, not sure what to make of that design.
    I rather enjoyed it when there would be people gathered around the console having a chat. Now with the giant throbbing crystal in the center the opportunity is lost.
    I can't see you. I can't see you. Are you there? all I see is a giant crystal.

    If The Timeless Child [TC] was one of the founders of the Time Lords, then the TC is either the Doctor herself, or someone who existed before her. So that rules out Susan and Romana for a start. That said, the Master explicitly refers to "the *lie* of the Timeless Child", so perhaps the TC never existed at all.

    I have a theory, what if the other time lords were never actually timelords, instead they found this planet and on this planet was a child that never seemed to age. Out of their lust for immortality they took this timeless child and extracted the DNA etc to make themselves immortal, and the master was the first to be experimented on but the DNA was a bit.. corrupt, hence the master being evil to some extent. Then this whole civilization is built on what the doctor was and is. Or the master was just another timeless child, the last 2 after their real planet or people were destroyed by these invaders who made themselves timelords from these last 2 living children

      Now this master is all of sudden trying to kill the doctor again so it's like why was Missy arc even started if it was gonna be completely ignored. Daniel was hyped up a lot as the big baddie, as were the Kasaavin; who claimed they wanted to 'take' the Universe, and yet, now that they're gone, I have no idea what the point of either of them were. As far as I'm concerned, this episode was a disappointing conclusion to a very strong opener.
