That's what happened to me. I came on TH-cam a day or two after it was broadcast, and there was a video near the top of the recommendations with his picture that said Brief History of the Master. Long before I had an opportunity to actually see the episode. What's really annoying is that the video was from the official Doctor Who TH-cam channel.
The Master = Dies/Disappears Whovians: Ok, so he'll probably come back, it won't surprise us when he does The Master: I'm back Whovians: WHAAAT?!! WHY ARE WE SO SURPRISED?!
I remember watching the episode for the first time and when they were all in the hut and he explains they should look for the spymaster and Thirteen said “Remember, you can’t trust anyone,” I was like “oh, it’s him. Lol, it’s totally gonna be him.” But shout-out for Chibnall because he pulled a double twist and made me shocked STILL which I’m impressed with from him.
Did anyone else get a bit of an evil Eleventh Doctor with this Master? He kind of had the swag allow with the square head & floppy hair of Matt Smith I was kind of in a similar boat to Jess with him as well, I was thinking to myself as I was watching "how is he able to put up that forcefield & capture aliens he knows nothing about?"

Very true, Whittaker and Dhawan were pretty good in part 2, not the levels of chemistry between Pertwee and Delgado or Capaldi and Gomez, but with more appearances between the two it could build and become more iconic and actually give this era of Who something interesting to watch and look forward to for once.
lucas dolding Give it time. But no matter what there won’t be anywhere near the level of chemistry there was between Pertwee and Delgado, both men were very good friends off screen and Delgado’s untimely tragic death in 1973 was a major factor in Pertwee quilting the show......
This story has reignited my love for the show again! 'Spyfall Part One' felt like a traditional Jon Pertwee story in a lot of ways before taking a different approach in Part Two. It was well-paced, it was the most fun I've had with the 13th Doctor (her playing Snap! at the poker table was a highlight!), it was easily Chibnall's best writing to date, and that cliffhanger reveal of the Master was totally unexpected. I just hope the rest of Series 12 gets better and better.
It reminded me of the old 3rd Doctor stories also, the motorcycle chase, the spy themed plot as well as the Master with his Tissue Compression Eliminator. Snap! at the poker table reminded me of the 2nd Doctor; it's the sort of thing he'd do.
I thought it was boring. The poker "snap" was just stupid, people dying and she dont give a toss, other doctors got angry if someone died. The "fam" are useless and do nothing for the show, even bradley walsh is bad this time, i mean c'mon, when he said worst uber ever, i cringed hard. When they were on the motorbikes was laughable and so obvious they were sitting on a bike on a trailer being pulled along. I will still watch but i dont think it will get better, i hope im wrong. Also, im not a female doctor hater, i just dont think Jodie is a good doctor.
@@madjamjar Well i disagree with everything you said. "Other Doctors got angry if someone died". Really? Did you not watch series 2? I'd make a list, but i'll just point to "Tooth and Claw" as an example of the Doctor not giving a toss over people dying. I have a long list, but you go ahead and use that one 3 second moment as an excuse to bash Jodie if u like. It speaks to your own preconceptions. Luckily, you're in a minority.
@@marksaunders7920 Of course you will disagree with everything i said, you are a jodie fan, im not, she just is not a good doctor imo. We all have opinions, they will differ. I do honestly hope Jodie finds her way as the doctor but i wont hold my breath. I didnt particularly like Peter Capaldi at first but he grew on me over time, Jodie however is not growing on me at this time. Probably my biggest gripe are the companions, they bring nothing and are useless. I think Jodie would be better without them.
@@cutthr0atjake oh Simm was much worse in that area, except for his appearance in Series 10. I honestly think that despite his occasional insanity and rage outburst, he's still more calm, collected and calculated along the lines of Delgado, who was just amazing
So excited waiting for your reaction. You did not disappoint. I wasn't a massive fan of the last series, this series seems to have really stepped up from the off. Great. And I love the new Master.
I thought I was so smart figuring out that O was the bad guy. But I had NO idea WHICH bad guy! I was floored. I went around watching a zillion reaction videos the next day just to see everyone have the same reaction 😲😳😄. On rewatch so many of the masters lines made so much sense. I have to say this was the first of Jodies episodes where she truly felt like the doctor to me
so fun fact Sacha found out he was The Master while he was working on a scripted play with Peter Capaldi and found it very difficult to keep it secret knowing the man with all the answers to his questions was right there.
Spyfall Part One: This is just a James Bond style romp in Doctor Who, all just a bit of a light-hearted laugh with a few moments of tension, fun but nothing serious. Also Spyfall Part One, last few minutes: Haha! Psyche!
Makes me smile to see a new Doctor Who vid from you. Rewatch this episode and see how the Master reveal changes his scenes. Not sure how I feel about the Master flirting with Yaz.
The Master has always toyed with the Doctor's companions. Martha's family, Clara, Bill, Nardole and now Yaz. It's just another way to mess with The Doctor.
Gotta say, out of all of the moments in the episode, the comment from The Doctor about her regeneration to a female form being an Upgrade is my favorite. One day, I hope to be able to use that line..
I absolutely LOVE your reaction at the reveal, I pretty much did the exact same thing. I actually heard my neighbors who were chatting outside my window just stop talking for a few seconds after I basically went "SQUEEEEEE!!!!!!!! NO F-ING WAY!!! NOOO F-----------ING WAAAAAYYY!!!!"
Much better than anything in the previous season. But still not up there with the best of either classic or new Who. If the rest of the season is as good it will be OK. Bit of a waste to manage to get Stephen Fry and then only use him for a couple of minutes screen time. Just imagine if Mr Fry was a "companion", even if only for one "adventure". Kia kaha Jess!
Chris Chibnall said in interviews, S11 was meant for a jumping on point for new fans, introducing The Doctor and her companions and creating a bond between them. S12, now that those new fans are familiar with the characters, Chris wants to introduce those new fans to the almost 60 year mythology the show has. One thing I like about it is it gives multiple members of the audience a different point of view on the show. If the only thing you watched was S11, then you're in the same position as the companion trio not knowing much about what's going on. If you've watched more of the show, you're in the same position as The Doctor, being just as surprised at The Master's return as she is. Also, I think the Master returning might have been vaguely hinted at in S11. Chibnall and Segun Akinola (new composer starting S11) both said that they work closely together to find the right sound for the show. I've listened to past themes, and the S11 theme seems like they put more emphasis on the drum beats which is a major part of The Master's story.
This season is definitely looking up. I actually think the new tone to the show could pay off in big ways. It really increases the drama and tension that rarely existed in new who. And now that they've broken away from the traditional formula it's actually a real surprise when they add things back like this.
Like I'm just a little annoyed because like. How is this even possible? Missy was killed by her past self. Like with no regeneration. She died. Like unless there was a regeneration between point A and point B (being this one) it just doesnt make sense why the master would be back. And the way they killed Missy was a BOLD move which is why I was super cool with it, this just takes away from that
I haven't seen anyone annoyed at Ryan for leaving Yaz. It's not something I even thought about actually as it was such an intense scene, but it would have been good if Ryan had referenced it afterwards with guilt when he told Yaz he wouldn't let her die. Who knows? That might still be a recurring theme. We're only 1 episode ahead of you by the way, in case you were unsure.
Who realised that the date this episode was aired on was the 10th anniversary of the masters last episode with David Tennant and the 49th anniversary of the masters first appearance
great reaction sesska but really I saw in your reaction this is what was missing in series 11 the lore connection to all other who and its villians and the story was action and intrigue not boing and preachy. im worried that it be an abberation but right now im looking forward to the next episode i did not have at all in series 11.
3:36 UNIT isn’t gone alright their on hiatus and one of their key people Sam Bishop is going to show up as his main actor warren brown is confirmed for episodes 6 Torchwood was gone but then they reformed again in the official big finish series 5 and 6 So The Woah hold up you’re doing here is so justified

Just to warn you and everyone who might not be aware, the credits have a little tribute to Terrence Dicks, who died last year. If you haven't heard of him, he was the script editor for all of the 3rd Doctor's era, co-wrote the 2nd Doctors final story, wrote the 4th Doctor's first story, wrote the 5 Doctors and wrote most of the Doctor Who Target Novelizations, which were the only way anyone could reexperience old Doctor Who stories before VHS was a thing. A lot of fans had fond memories of him, especially those who learned to read with his books, and he had the nickname of "Uncle Terry". Just thought it was worth pointing out.
I'm from that era (1970's) and yes I have very fond memories of my mother picking up Doctor Who Target novelisations from my local library. He actually proved with the Virgin range in the early 90's how fine a writer he could be when he wasn't under a deadline (with Target he was sometimes having to turn three scripts a day into book form). A fine talent along with Robert Holmes and so many others on the early Doctor Who's.
I’ve watched other reactions to this episode but was really waiting for yours. By far one of the best reactions. Glad to learn you are going to do Bond. Might have to be come a patreon for that! Hope your rough start of the year smooths out soon.

Did you recognise that actor from An Adventure in Space and Time, the Dr Who bio pic tv movie that you watched. Also welcome back. Plus the fandom's buzzing from this series 12 two part episode premiere.
This episode was also dedicated to Terrance Dicks, the script editor of the Pertwee era and I like to think he would be very pleased for this to be dedicated to him. Action scenes, gadgets and at the end of it all the Master turns out to be behind it all, it is a pertwee story in all the best ways. And Jodie is amazing in this story, closer to troughton and the Snap moment was gold! Rosa and Demons of the Punjab remain my favourite stories for her, but this two parter is a close third.

Yeah... Warren Brown is appearing. But it's a bit of a leap to think that means he's playing the same character he's played for Big Finish.

Just to warn you and everyone who might not be aware, the credits have a little tribute to Terrence Dicks, who died last year.
If you haven't heard of him, he was the script editor for all of the 3rd Doctor's era, co-wrote the 2nd Doctors final story, wrote the 4th Doctor's first story, wrote the 5 Doctors and wrote most of the Doctor Who Target Novelizations, which were the only way anyone could reexperience old Doctor Who stories before VHS was a thing.
A lot of fans had fond memories of him, especially those who learned to read with his books, and he had the nickname of "Uncle Terry".
Just thought it was worth pointing out.
I'm from that era (1970's) and yes I have very fond memories of my mother picking up Doctor Who Target novelisations from my local library. He actually proved with the Virgin range in the early 90's how fine a writer he could be when he wasn't under a deadline (with Target he was sometimes having to turn three scripts a day into book form). A fine talent along with Robert Holmes and so many others on the early Doctor Who's.

This episode was also dedicated to Terrance Dicks, the script editor of the Pertwee era and I like to think he would be very pleased for this to be dedicated to him.
Action scenes, gadgets and at the end of it all the Master turns out to be behind it all, it is a pertwee story in all the best ways.
And Jodie is amazing in this story, closer to troughton and the Snap moment was gold! Rosa and Demons of the Punjab remain my favourite stories for her, but this two parter is a close third.
