Fun fact: Water Girl is named Heather and Bill is named Bill after Bill Hartnell (aka William Hartnell), and his wife (as seen in An Adventure in Space and Time) was named Heather Hartnell. So you have Bill & Heather flying off, into the galaxy at the end, named after the Hartnells ✨
The most sad thing about this is Missy choosing to stand with The Doctor is the fact that he will never know and will now always think that Missy chose to stay being evil?.
@HamzaReactz actually if you saw how missy grabbed the doctors hand just before leaving it was the hand with the blade, so he could have known she was going to kill him, but it failed
@@finnatikk Is that really he case? I’ve never noticed nor have I ever seen someone else say that this is the case, but it’s really interesting if that is true
The entire "Where I Fall" speech might be the best monologue in Who history. Nardole's parting "I'll never be able to find the words"... My lord. Steven Moffat was absolutely inspired for this script
Can we all receive medals for not spoiling you about the return of the First Doctor, played by David Bradley? We've been sitting on that for WEEKS. It was worth it,though, for your reaction.
Best master & cyber story for modern who in my opinion. Also one of my favorites pieces of music with "I hoped they'd be stars" plus nardoles goodbye was so sad, lots of pluses basically
When Bill points out that "I'm all about girls and kinda people my own age" was her both saying that she loved the Doctor as her travelling professor but also a final attempt at keeping a part of herself alive that is core to her: her love of women as a final attempt to keep the Cyber mind at bay with something that was non cyber, she was just making sure the Doctor knew so she had some validation that she was still herself, she was being brave as best she could
I heard a theory once that every Doctor's next regeneration is influenced by the experiences of their predecessor. If you know who the next one after Capaldi is then you'll see why Bill's words might be relevant 😉
M8 you’re reaction to the first doctor appearing at the end is the best reaction you have ever done!! It’s what reaction vids are all about!! Hahaha amazing!
One of the best season finale's ever. It's a very dark, yet witty and warm episode. Bill's been a very good companion, very well suited to Capaldi's doctor. Thanks for a great reaction!
Been waiting for this :) seeing David again was unbelievable haha. Real tip off is all the references to when the Doctor had fought the Cybermen, yet does not mention the Tenth Planet.
THIS! This is quite possibly your best reaction of the entire 10 seasons we've had to date. I loved every second of it, especially towards the end. I just knew you'd love the Simm redemption, Missy's arc, and the David Bradley bombshell!
I like how they ended the episode with a single cyber-mite surviving. But even if the cyber-mite didn't survive , the whole idea of the Cybermen is that they can arise in different ways in different societies. Also "Where There's Tears There's Hope" might be my favourite song of the whole show. It's a shame series 10 is the only series Murray Gold worked on without an official soundtrack release yet. Although he did promise last year that he will release the series 10 soundtrack at some point in the future, so hopefully that happens soon.
I was waiting for this reaction specifically because I knew you'd love seeing 1 back at the end! This is, in my opinion, one of the best finales the show's done, because the character work is just so strong. The 'I do what I do because it's right' speech is one of my favourites of Capaldi's, and it's made better by the fact that there's no music behind it. John Simm's face right after he tells 12 that he didn't listen to a word of it is amazing, knowing that he's just said the thing that would anger the Doctor the most, not caring whether or not he's actually right. It's just so good, and I watched it over and over when it came out. I think you'll appreciate some aspects of it more once you've seen more of classic who, although it mostly boils down to half a dozen extra references that I won't spoil yet. Very excited to see your thoughts on Twice Upon a Time, although I don't doubt that you'll have already seen it by the time this comment gets posted.
Remember how we first met Missy? She was in control of all that super advanced cyber technology? And now we've just seen the Master, about to regenerate into Missy, heading down into a ship full of rapidly evolving Cybermen? :D
When The Doctor was talking about Cybermen from Cyberspace, thats where Missy got her plan from in Death in Heaven in Series 8. Subconsciously, she must of remembered.
Hahaha I absolutely loved your reaction to this. I am so excited for your next reaction. It’s personally one of my favourites - in a beautiful and sad way. But yeah I’m so glad you enjoyed this! ❤❤
Honestly i had the same reaction as you when we saw the first doctor the first time i watched this also this is by far one of if not the best peter capaldi episodes in his whole time as the doctor
11th: "We all change, when you think about it. We're all different people all through our lives. And that's okay, that's good, you've got to keep moving, so long as you remember all the people that you used to be. I will not forget one line of this. Not one day. I swear. I will always remember when the Doctor was me." 12th: "Did I say that? Nah can't be me. Fk that, I'm not going to change. Never. Who's gonna make me? I'm the Doctor!" Jokes aside, that is one of my favourite scenes for the 12th Doctor. Capaldi really had a lot of the best speeches in Doctor Who period.
Yes, this really helps show how Simms can and does shine as the Master when given the right material. I always liked him, and the insanity he had, but also knew the story didn't highlight it right. There were elements of what I liked in his earlier work (like when he fights Rassilon with the Doctor), but in general, this really brings him fully into the role, even as Nardal is also fully realized.
Missy redemption ark in series 10 was incredible. If you think about it this ending of the 12th doctor is darker as we think. He didn’t know if Bill survive, didn’t know that Missy was going to side with him and didn’t know that he got those kids to safety. Dark ending for 12th Doctor. For any Doctor really.
fact 10ths cyermen with the C are Cybus cybermen (pete'a world) but ones similar to them without the C cin the chests, should be mondasian, since cybermen upgrade, i personally thnk so but they never explained
I love this story, but the next story is really good too in my opinion. There's some really clever call backs in the next episode which not many people notice straight away.
Your thoughts at the end were exactly the same as mine! Absolutely love this one, especially in conjunction with the previous one. A very dark two parter but with a theme of hope and redemption. I couldn't stand Simm during the Tennant era but thought he was fantastic here; smarmy, misogynistic and remorseless in the most horribly entertaining way 😂 he and Michelle Gomez played off each other so well. I also have to mention how good Pearl Mackie was in this. Just a heartbreaking performance and feels like we've known her for way longer than one season. I'm one of the people who wasn't feeling the next Doctor's era but I'll stick around to watch your reactions since it will be interesting to see them from somebody else's perspective. Keep up the great reactions!
Hahah - not going to lie, as much as I was looking forward to the reveals at the end of World Enough and Time, it was the end of this one I was looking forward to most.
This is easily one of the best finales, in my opinion. I love almost every aspect of it. I thought it'd be a little bit more effective if Bill had properly died, but at least it was set up all the way back in The Pilot.
You can watch An Adventure in Space and Time (2013) if you want It's about the creation of the series and Hartnell era With David Bradley playing William Hartnell
Now that you’ve finished the Hartnell era, it’s worth a rewatch, especially if you can find the uncut version w/the 7-8 extra minutes that relate to “An Unearthly Child,” which were cut from the 60th version. You’ll be able to recognize all the other first Doctor companions now, in addition to some of the monsters shown (Menoptra from the Web Planet, etc). You could even look for the cameos from the actors Carole Ann Ford (Susan), William Russell (Ian), and Annika Wilkes (Polly), whom were missed on the first watch-through.
Michelle Gomez is my favorite Mistress out of all the Masters. I really don't like the character of the Master, but she made it fun for me. It wasn't just the fact she was a woman either.
Your reaction to seeing the First Doctor was priceless! 🤣 I agree with you about Simm's Master. Interestingly, his characterisation (and dress sense!) is closer here to what it was like during his first incarnation in the 1970s. I'm not a massive fan of this episode. So from here from here the Master regenerates into Missy, goes back in time and sets up her plan to replace the dead with Cybermen and give them to the Doctor, as we saw last season?
At some point yeah but not necessarily right away. There's been theories that John Simm's Master doesn't regenreate directly to Missy and that all the future Masters we would see are probably between him and Missy, making Missy the final incarnation of the Master and her death final too. I like this theory because it makes sense and because it would avoid having Missy losing all her character development by regenerating.
