    For those of you watching this video, citronella leaves and flowers are entirely edible. So if you already need to prune it, use the leave for something like tea or stir fry.

    The citronella plant that citronella oil is derived from looks like lemongrass. What we have here is the geranium citronella. The plant itself does not necessarily keep away insects but when the leaves are crushed, they give off the citronella scent that deters insects. The oil derived from this plant is geranium oil.

    How much sunlight is sufficient but not too much? I live in a tropical country - my window is east facing and I notice the plant shrivel when fully in the light for 10 minutes even on a cloudy day!

    • @MattGriffo
      @MattGriffo 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Citronella wants as much light as you can give it. If it’s shriveling up, it’s probably because you need to water it more. It’s less likely that you’re over-watering the plant as they can take a ton of water, but it is possible to over-water so you need to check the soil

      If it’s turning brown and crispy quickly, you need to water it a ton more. They drink a lot of water. They also want as much sunlight as you can give them or they won’t do very well

    I used to transferred it in a pot using ordery garden soil. I thought it was die because of no sunlight.
