    Thank you for this video! I had 2 very large plants last summer (I’m in northern Michigan). I had a very plant sit them at her home over the winter and she brought them back dead. I purchased 2 more at $15 a pot and decided they will be coming indoors with me next winter. The cuttings I propagate will go into my greenhouse. I love the citronella along with a variety of Rosemary, basil, Thyme, oregano, peppermint on my patio all keeping my space protected from mosquitoes!

    Hello!
    This video has helped so many questions. We just received our first frost in Canada, I wanted to "save", continue growth indoors over the winter of a healthy Citronella/mosquito plant. We are going to try both options.
    Look forward to seeing a dried leaf tutorial...

    THANK YOU FOR INCLUDING THE TIME ON THIS!!! To buy the plant is so expensive, but I was trying to figure out if I purchase one and propagate if I can get many more before end of summer. Now I know the answer is no. It does not grow near as quickly as mint or basil. Thank you thank you

    Citronella geranium is a cross between a rose-scented geranium and Citronella grass (Cymbopogon nardis), a tall grass. The scent of the rose geranium is like rose, but the Citronella geranium is like lemon scented. So the rose geranium and the Citronella geranium are not one in the same. I have bought rose scented geranium plant few days back and going to buy the other variant i.e., Citronella geranium online.

      u might actually want lemongrass citronella instead.... i assumes from your statement u are referring to outside -- lemongrass gets way bigger and repel a larger area than geranium. also mint of all species and lavender is great. different scents for different moods. and catnip is related to mint. they get rid of fleas and stuff as well, and citronella is the best roach repellent ever.

    I bought 4 polybag of citronella plant and i transferred it in a pot.
    I used to remove the bag and rice cloth in it. I used drag it to the bottom of the pot so that when it grow the roots can hold more soil, fortunately after 3-4 days it slowly dies.

    Geranium citrosa, the lemon scented geranium, does smell like citronella, but it actually only has trace amounts in this plant and they do NOT repel mosquitoes. If you are looking to repel mosquitoes in your garden then you need to buy a true citronella grass.

  • @144ky8

    I am pretty sure that is the "fake citronella".

      What do you mean?

    • @144ky8
      @144ky8 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Search Google for "Pelargonium 'citrosum'" and go to the Wikipedia page, then search Google for "Cymbopogon" or "lemongrass" and go to the Wikipedia page. It isn't the same plant, but some people sell it as citronella anyways.
