This is a great video. Thank you for sharing. I just bought a citronella plant but need several. They are so expensive so I only bought one. Now I feel good to propagate it so I can have multiple plants from just this one.
Thank you for watching! Yes they are a very simple plant to propagate. I started with eight 4 inch starts and now have hundreds of plants. If there’s any questions you have or want me to go over in a video about citronella let me know.
Thank you for the very educational and much needed video but please try to slow down each point (or write a script so that you can cut back on all the “um” and “uh” which will drive people crazy in the future 😊
Thank you for the feedback. This was my very first video. I did it knowing it wasn’t the best but wanted to do it so I remember where I started. I’ll be adding some more content soon! Thank you!
@@lanibugorganics879 Well I’ve never done a video and I would probably do the same. I think you did great for your first time. I propagated citronella about 7 years ago with a hundred percent success rate-don’t remember if I used rooting hormone or not. I gave away all those plants during a move. I just tried again earlier this spring and had total failure. Not sure why. Do you remember what soil you used? I may have used seed starting mix but i just don’t remember. Thank you for your content. Enjoyed all the way through!
@@tinaknutsen thank you for watching and your support! The soil I use is Lambert LM-AP. It is very consistent. I never used rooting hormones but may try a few trays to compare root growth. I always propagate from November to March. The greenhouse stays around 55°. I find it better than doing it in warmer months. If it get to hot the rot much easier. Here in Utah the temperature fluctuates so much and a higher risk of loosing plants. In the winter it’s much slower root development but consistent. I also like doing it in the winter time to cut back all the parent plants and save some space in the greenhouse when I have to move them back in. I have 10 in 10 gallon containers. Hopefully that helps a little. I’ll definitely be doing more videos on citronella starting in November.
If you can send pictures of the plant to either my website messenger or my personal contact listed on the website I’d be able to help identify the issue with your citronella. Thank you!
Would you be able to tell me if I can find these in the wild because I see a bunch of these plants well they look like the citronella , All around in my back yard I just don't know if it's this plant lol I don't want to propagate them and have more in my back yard and it's just some weed plant 😅
That’s a good question! My contact info is on my website and you can send pictures so I can help identify. The big give away would be the fragrance as well.
