switch axe needs buffs. the moveset is great, new moves are excellent, but it needs to either be faster or do more damage, or both. its too weak to be as slow as it is right now. longsword has higher dps, mobility, damage, AND 2 INVINCIBLE COUNTERS WITH ALMOST NO RECOVERY. this is unacceptable, i know the devs favor longsword, but this is just ridiculous. luckily the devs have time to fix this and many of the other weapons before launch.
@DakJD neither did I until I saw one a popup of "upsurge in breakable terrain" popped up and that same area have 4 breakable rocks instead of 3. Safe to say i got a bit excited.
Is it me, or does the hunter attacks have the same type of energy as mounted knife attacks on world? The just don't have impact to me. Only certain monster attacks seem to have that effect.
I haven't played it, but the attacks seem pretty impactful, due to the monster literally moving when you hit them, unless you hit them in some part that he is resistant, thing that happens since older games, if you don't hit in a weak part, you'll feel it dull
Yes only a few moves have noticeable Hitstop. But then again if you play MHW lowrank now without any Crit etc. the hits don´t feel like they have much impact either, depending on the weapon. Sounddesign plays a big role. I can only judge it when we see lategame gameplay with elemental effects and crit. But i think you reguarly have hits that have big impact, when you create a weakspot for example.
@@MrCrypto137 Exactly. Going from a build with crit to a build without crit has a big difference in feel. The only weapon where I significantly noticed less hitstop is the Greatsword and that's explained by the fact that in Wilds the True Charged Slash is accessible in many more ways, so it deals less damage and has less hitstop than the absurd ammount that World had. In World, while you were in your TCS hitstop, the monster could sometimes do entire attacks due to the fact that you were effectively stunned by your own weapon. Wilds has faster combat and faster monsters, so it can't have as much hitstop. I play Charge Blade and I can confidently say that Wilds' CB feels much more impactful than World's CB, due to better sound design and the ability to deal continued tics of damage to a single part while in Savage Axe mode. It's a case by case thing
Nice run! The emote/message spam in the chat was insane, I can tell it would be very distracting. Hope they add a setting to disable it if you are in a hunt or disable it from people who aren't in your friend list.
Dope run! New moves look awesome, just wish the SA sounds across the board were a bit punchier. World had the best sounding switch axe imo, so I'm glad they brought back the phial explosion sounds at least.
@@KageMH Even if you don't want to grind anymore I found this neat little trick: You have to search for criteria for a lobby (for example Veteran, Questing etc.) and then you get the option to choose from alot of lobbies which are all 0/100 so you're the only one in that lobby then. Works for me since the beta startet. Anyway nice run and nice use of the Full Release Slash, I found it not so easy to weave in. Good Job!
I switched to LS for the first time and I’m already outperforming my switch axe. Why does switch axe feel so weak. With the lack of good defensive options it needs to hit way harder.
No element and since there's no gear phials aren't as strong it ain't that weak though you gotta change the way you play ot to take advantage of the new moveset full release and sword focus hit hard also mounting damage and opening wounds. I'd say switch axe is good if played well but it's gonna get outdamaged switch axe may scale better with elemental damage. Swaxe early game tends to not be great in most mh
I could kinda tell from the other previews the offset and counter attacks they've added would have little to no use compared to what we had with EBC in Sunbreak. It's good to see the new Full Release Slash can be useful at least.
Unfortunately, they nerf counter attack to the ground because so many player complain it op in sunbreak, and now also u take damage when u perform it and deal low damage to monster
Offset is absolutely going to be used. It refills like 30% of the gauge when you land it. The sword counter isn't as good but has very generous timing. If you could counter roars it would be good.
I'm learning switch axe from your world and wilds videos and th way you play is so wonderfuk. I'm a bit confused with Full release discharge and ZSD since in world when the monster was down you used to do the full combo into ZSD and here you do it sometiles but you prioritise FRD. Is it bettet to always prioritise FRD for big openings and ZSD for small openings ?
@KageMH no I mean you can full release from neutral sword mode. You don't need to do elemental discharge first. Hold r2 + triangle + circle with amp gauge (then keep r2 held). Instead of triangle + circle then hold r2.
Switch axe feels like a step back from rise, it plays slower and much less damage. Offset attack and sword mode guard point both take damage, cant do it comfortably on strong monster. Very disappointed.
Could be a gear issue. I haven’t seen anyone use them so I don’t know tho. Offset nearly refills meter. Hopefully counter isn’t useless. It’s the only defensive option for the weapon
The impact that isnt there is killin me. Doesnt feel as powerful before but a swaxe is a swaxe. And its beta so its probably gonna be different on release
I think that’s what so many people keep forgetting, it’s a beta and even in the title they specifically say there will be balancing to do. Kinda the point of a beta lol.
No me convence el sonido de los golpes. Lo siento muy debil y es como si estubiera golpeando aire al ver lo poco que reaccionan los monstruos a diferentes de world y rise
You can’t clutch claw onto a monster and go straight into zsd like World. You have to land the attack now on the part you want, but at least you have hyper armor so rocksteady isnt a limiting factor.
