hey! its the other switchaxe guy! love both of you and your videos. i agree, i think swaxe needs either more damage, faster attack speed(for certain attacks), or both. id rather they increase the damage and flinch/topple capabilities, as the moveset feels VERY good, just lacks the oomph of world and even rise to a degree. i think they could improve the sfx for the weapon as well. cheers!
Btw I forgot to mention you can press L3 in focus mode to fire your loaded slinger ammo (except big ones like giant dung bomb), so you don't have to sheathe your weapon everytime!
singlehandedly saving swaxe's beta times.. goat.. at any rate i hope sword mode at least gets a substantial buff to it's MVs so it's viable and full release isn't the only method of dealing decent damage. you played practically perfectly yet some of these other weapons blow this time out of the water with like a quarter of the effort.

Hey! New to Monster hunter series but loved playing the switch axe in the open beta. But hearing a lot of people saying that swax damage is not good? If so, do they usually change it in previous installments?
Amazing run! The first 6mins ReyDau by SwithcAxe I have see. This weapon really needs some buff on its energy generation and charging speed for full release.
Nice run , the run is great, it's a shame that it takes so much effort to have such a time compared to the other weapons , I hope we get a slight buff but well done in any case :)

Also isnt this style exactly like old zsd spam, instead of zsd its full release slash now, wish they would buff the damage of everything else, give me back my audible ticks of zsd and let other axe moves regen more gauge not just spiral burst or heavy slam being the most

@tiefighter5564 lol try spamming the new attack against rey dau. He made it look easy but it's such a big commitment attack that it's hard to pull off this consistently
@@mudguppy3823 true but he's not wrong. You'll basically want to use this attack as often as you can because its just by far the best option once you have a decent opening. Every other attack hits like a wet noodle compared to this. Hopefully they'll do some rebalancing and buff other attacks (especially axe mode, right now it seems completely useless aside from recharging your sword gauge with the double chop, and maybe the offset attack as beautifully showcased here. Btw. Freaking awesome run regardless of the weapon complaints

@@mudguppy3823 it’s just as boring imo. at least with ZSD in IB you still had sword combos that rivaled its DPS. swaxe now is pretty much gimped. the time would be nowhere near anything decent if full release wasn’t being spammed over and over
the counters are cool and all, but too slow. the one form rise being faster was just so satisfying to use, i kinda miss it. i hope its just this particular swaxe being weak and not the whole archetype of weapon. Fantastic run!
@@oInstant getting quickmorph 3 was so easy when almudron's headpiece gave you level 2/3 already. Swaxe especially in Sunbreak had such a perfect gameplay loop with the counter, this doesn't live up to it. Of course this is cool and the new moves are awesome, but the gameplay loop just isn't there yet
The gameplay was so smooth but it’s a shame that the damage numbers are looking pretty unbalanced right now. Fortunately, it seems that the issues with swax can be mostly addressed with some value changes and are not tied to the inherent design philosophy of the weapon in Wilds. We’ll see what they do in the full release.
Because they butchered Swaxe in Wilds and the "fixes" they gave it in response to the Beta completly missed the thing that was criticized, which is spaming Full Release.
Great run. It is a bit disheartening to see how stifling it is to regain gauge with the axe... I do agree with their vision of giving more meaning to axe mode, but I expected them to at least make the mode more fun.

The sword counter feels like more of a bailout, it’s really fast and actually combos into two double axe strikes that build lots of gauge but the offset attack is much better if you have time especially with doshu set bonus

Turns out if you actually use the weapon mechanics ie offsets and counters you can do well. Too many people already complaining the weapon feels weak when it’s like you’re basically untouchable if you know the monster. Cheers!

amazing run , I didnt even know luring pod could be used to prevent monsters from fleeing, im certain many other speedrunners also dont know that, they should take notes here! How do you spam that special swaxe spinning move without losinf your entire switch gauge? I've never been able to figure it out and it seems like its the only way to do decent damage consistently as a swaxe player.
@KageMH no, i meant the swaxe finishing move that usually eats up all your gague, your main damage option during the speedrun. it usually takes up alot moee switch gague but you were able to get like 3 off before the meter drained

When you're in amped state for swaxe. Anytime in sword mode you can press the R2+Triangle+Circle (other controllers respectfully the same button areas) to do Charged Unbridled slash if you keep R2 held down. If you don't keep R2 held down you'll just get the basic version for less hits. This will also be the only version you can do while not in amped state. Though it does charge the gauge well

Man I can't wait to play this weapon sub-optimally because just spamming the new full release looks boring as fuck. don't get me wrong, not that you didn't play well or anything but geez. Hopefully they buff the motion values of all the other attacks. and for a weapon that's called switch axe we still spend an awful lot of our time avoiding the axe mode as much as possible lmao. this was already as problem in mhw and I don't see it changing here. might as well call it Great Sword 2 in the next game and get rid of the axe mode altogether.
I don't like new Switch Axe. Instead of ZSD spam, we spam 1 Sword attack and unbridled slash? Feels kinda lame. Also the Sword Counter makes us take way too much damage...
This is just subjective and at the wim, but I think every move in a weapon should have a time and place. Elemental discharge should lead in to a completely charged full release slash? That way it finds use, and you get more dps out of sword mode? and or just give it super armor, less damage taken, since you can't change the aim, its a valid trade. It also compliments FRS because FRS has more damage and you need good timing and positioning instead. Axe mode should have a passive wound creating bonus, that way it has more utility and damage? + more fun with wound finishers The offset in axe mode should take no damage, since it's harder to use and time than other counters, as well as give more reason to be in axe mode (more defencive option than sword). It could just do way more damage aswell, since basically all its use disapears when the offset animation is on cooldown (5min+ or something feels like) The sword counter should probably just do more damage, because if it combo into full release slash or gave full sword gauge, you would just spam it with FRS and it would be more like LS and undermine other moves. I see Switch axe as a berserker weapon class, so that's why I think its fine trading hp for damage in counters, and the lack of mobility + utility is fine, but the damage should be way more rewarding and also create smarter solution to incorporate the whole moveset in fights. If you play near perfect like Kage you should beat LS, DB and Bow in dps in my opinion, since they have amazing defensive options. Then balance out the last parts with dmg numbers to buff or nerf it, to be in a spot with amazing dps in trade of hp, movement and utility? Just at a wim thinking, thoughts and improvements?
Whats funny is our counter does WAY less damage than LS, has weaker follow ups, isn't a ranged attack like LS counter and still takes chip damage lol Offset cooldown isn't a timer its a threshold, GS can get it back to back because its offset move does so much damage meanwhile swax one does 30 damage

I doubt gauge will be an issue in full game, since axe mode can now be filled manually, it will probably be affected by focus.

They removed the rising slash into 1 swing Wild Swings into Heavy Slam from this game and I hate it.
Are you doing more dmg to the monster when he doenst see you? It zoomed in and then u did some huge dmg at the start.

Yes, all your damage is low except full release. You wanna be doing as much of full release as possible and as little of everything else as possible

Hopefully they buff the motion values of all the other attacks. and for a weapon that's called switch axe we still spend an awful lot of our time avoiding the axe mode as much as possible lmao. this was already as problem in mhw and I don't see it changing here. might as well call it Great Sword 2 in the next game and get rid of the axe mode altogether.

I don't like new Switch Axe. Instead of ZSD spam, we spam 1 Sword attack and unbridled slash? Feels kinda lame. Also the Sword Counter makes us take way too much damage...

This is just subjective and at the wim, but I think every move in a weapon should have a time and place. Elemental discharge should lead in to a completely charged full release slash? That way it finds use, and you get more dps out of sword mode? and or just give it super armor, less damage taken, since you can't change the aim, its a valid trade. It also compliments FRS because FRS has more damage and you need good timing and positioning instead.
Axe mode should have a passive wound creating bonus, that way it has more utility and damage? + more fun with wound finishers
The offset in axe mode should take no damage, since it's harder to use and time than other counters, as well as give more reason to be in axe mode (more defencive option than sword). It could just do way more damage aswell, since basically all its use disapears when the offset animation is on cooldown (5min+ or something feels like)
The sword counter should probably just do more damage, because if it combo into full release slash or gave full sword gauge, you would just spam it with FRS and it would be more like LS and undermine other moves.
I see Switch axe as a berserker weapon class, so that's why I think its fine trading hp for damage in counters, and the lack of mobility + utility is fine, but the damage should be way more rewarding and also create smarter solution to incorporate the whole moveset in fights. If you play near perfect like Kage you should beat LS, DB and Bow in dps in my opinion, since they have amazing defensive options.
Then balance out the last parts with dmg numbers to buff or nerf it, to be in a spot with amazing dps in trade of hp, movement and utility?

Whats funny is our counter does WAY less damage than LS, has weaker follow ups, isn't a ranged attack like LS counter and still takes chip damage lol
Offset cooldown isn't a timer its a threshold, GS can get it back to back because its offset move does so much damage meanwhile swax one does 30 damage

I just think people are too used with ZSD Spamming in World and Elemental Burst Counter Spamming in Sunbreak 🗿
But now the weapon is just full release spam. I'm not sure this weapon has ever been healthily designed in the New World
