I have to say. That shop is freakin sweet.
I think your assessment of what this lineup is all about and who it is for is spot on. While part of me hates to see such a throw away brushless system come time to upgrade, I suppose I would rather have that as a beginner than a brushed system that will wear out before being ready for a performance boost upgrade. Still, I would recommend TA MT10 and Pro4SC or the ARRMA 3S over these Traxxas offerings at the same price point. But that is just me, some folks will want Traxxas all day long.

Not Snake oil, in my opinion, it was a partial business move to hopefully counter the Losi Promoto that's also 2S. 2S is very economical right now and it is probably harder to sell Rc's that requires 200.00 dollars or more for Lipos. I'd already have one if they were faster and i hate traxxas. My Xmaxx is the only traxxas Rc i own and its in my top favorite but their cheap sue happy nonsense turned me away, the first RC i ever purchased was a Nitro Rustler.

There was a lady in my local shop the last time I was in there, and it looked like she was trying to pick something out for the holidays. The sales guy was giving her the basics and doing his thing. I'm like "yeah, this is basically our shoe store" and she had a good laugh at that.

The vxl Platnuim has aluminum shock towers and upgraded axles already I see the give you the pins for the body but a body slip on is cool 😮

Rtr electronics are like the first free drink in a collectible mug. The durability of the physical vehicles and maybe the radio matters. The ESC and Motor? I personally don't use them.

Traxxas is a mediocre at best company who likes to steal innovations while simultaneously patenting what others invented. So far, Traxxas has sued Losi, Hobbico, HPI, Redcat, ARRMA, Maclan, Skulldugery, and probably more. This bully known as Traxxas has patented designs that they not only didn't invent, but have been used for years in the industry. The worst part? While Traxxas was suing for simple things like rubber o rings, double servos, or lay down shocks, Traxxas was stealing things like complete car design by TheJang's Chimera A (including the color scheme) and relabeling it a Telluride. Traxxas is a Texas lawyer with some cheap plastic products to sell you in order to kill the market with RTR's like they did HPI. Anything but TraxxASS
The clipless bodies are a terrible idea now you can't adjust the down force of the body or run different bodies or tires Traxxas trying to make there cars none customizable smh 🗑

Might be an unpopular opinion, but I think Traxxas pricing is an absolute joke. How are your entry level 1/10 scale so expensive. How are those 2s, ancient platforms over $300...
Because if it was more than a 2s it wouldn’t be entry level because the other series have more power and voltage so it will make anything go faster

I mean there are cheaper kits like I just bought a stampede 2wd for 200 and it has a pretty good nimh battery and decent charger for what it is and all you need is double a’s for the controller. It’s really good honestly for only 200 bucks I owned a Kraton 4s and while I like the truggies I’m enjoying the stampede on a more fun side. I think it more or less comes down to what you are wanting out of the rc and each manufacture gives you a different flavor. I don’t want traxxas to just copy arrma or arrma to copy traxxas.
