I'd kind of expect that a full-budget Hotline Miami movie would have action scenes somewhere in between John Wick, The Punisher, and The Raid, considering how fast the gameplay is. But from what you were able to do with what I'm assuming is a budget of zero, you perfectly captured the mood of the game without any action; a dreamlike, semi-creepy conceptual experience. Have you ever played the game Party Hard? I think you could make a really good short film based on that.
Dude this is a masterpiece honestly, the 80’s display resolution, the 80’s practical effects, the lack of synthwave and using music that would actually be in the 80’s, weird 80’s pacing I don’t know it was intentional or not but it was beautiful thank you

I'm not even mad at the less-than-stellar camerawork and acting - it kinda adds to the atmosphere actually, just like the nostalgic VHS noises. This is such a good stylisation it just made me smile all the way through! This is HLM the slasher flick, start to finish :) (I kinda like how slowly and deliberately he moves, too - this is close to how I picture him. Except faster and more alert when the action happens, since that's when he'd feel truly alive and stuff... but I ain't complaining!)

This is really damn good. Really captures the spirit of Hotline Miami and the gore effects are on point. Also massive props for having a cinematic feel along with that grungy VHS quality. Definitely gives it that B 80s Slasher movie feel

Quite an unusal view on HM This film really flows like a 80s movie: angles, pace, music, color scheme and audio design all together create a realistic 80s horror movie experience
I've watched at least 5 hotline short films and none were as detailed and accurate as this was. A solid 10/10. Nice job with the special effects and old style VCR-visuals.
I have seen a lot of real life hotline shorts, but this one I think is the one I like the most. Normally I dont see them through the end, but this was an exception, all was really well done... My only let down was the music a bit but everything else is perfect. good job guys!
just some tips, I feel like Jacket should be more like a Human, heavy breathing after all he did and not moving like Terminator, also the calls should be with a sexy/happy voice, a way to remind that 80s style

Brought me back to the 90s “America’s funniest home videos” or just feeling like a kid playing around with dad’s camera (literally have the same angle of my dad driving) that made it so real. Great camera work. Even though the modern special effects look out of place but it didn’t slow down the whole film. Really great

I didn’t know Hotline Miami was still relevant. Still waiting for that third game. But hey, your video was really good. I almost thought I was watching Kung Fury for a second there. No, beautiful. The effects are really nice, because they are sort of convincing, but at the same time, really b movie like. Amazing.
Well...a third part wouldn't make really sense considering the ending of Hotline Miami 2. And as much as I love the games I think it's important to let a series end gracefully. Just look at all these AAA games with their constant continuations. It's just sad... . Everything good comes to an end. We can still go back and enjoy the games or just think about the awesome moments that they gave us.

For the VHS effects I used Red Giant's Universe VHS plug-in for after effects. I left a comment on your pilot, very good effort put into it.
